A loud knock on the door jerked Tsubomi awake. "Huh?" She rubbed her eyes sleepily, looking to her clock in confusion. "It's already eight?" Another knock had Chiho out of bed as well.
"Don't worry. I'll get it." She opened the door to let in a bustling group of Tsubomi's friends.
"Spill now!" Miniko bounced happily on the pink head's bed. "Did she really chase you down?!"
"Yeah! I heard some girls say they saw her force her way into your room!" Suzuki pulled a chair up close to the sleepy girl for the interrogation. Before answering, she noticed Hanai standing behind the other two shyly.
"H-Hi." Hanai looked up in surprise. She hadn't expected Tsubomi to pay much attention to her now.
"Hey. How was your night?" Her hands were clasped in front of her and her eyes diverted to the floor.
"I don't really remember. I think I fell asleep pretty early yesterday." Chiho giggled quietly, drawing the group's attention.
"You were asleep when I got back. So I'd say you two fell asleep rather quickly."
"Two?!" Suzuki and Miniko shouted simultaneously while squealing in delight.
"Geez. What is with all the noise out here? It's still early you know." Every head snapped around to the bathroom doorway. Yaya stood in a towel, fresh out of the shower. Her hair dripped tiny droplets across her skin, and steam filled the air around her. She took her tooth brush out of her mouth before mouthing off again. "I know you young ones have a lot of energy, but some of us have a hard time getting up of a morning. Can you keep it down some?"
"Y-Yaya!" Tsubomi flew out of the bed to push the older girl back into the bathroom. The rest of the girls shrieked in happiness. The pink head slammed the door closed behind the brunette in embarrassment. "Baka! I didn't even know you were still here!" She almost fell backward when the door opened behind her.
"What was I supposed to do? Walk around campus without a shower or in my clothes from yesterday? I think not." She smirked at the younger girl who grew redder by the second. "You know you could join me." Watching the embarrassment pour out of her made the snarky comments worth it for Yaya. She chuckled at the reactions of Tsubomi's friends. "Calm down Pinky. I'll only be a minute." She returned to the bathroom, leaving Tsubomi to the wolves.
"Tsubomi!" Miniko laughed whole heartedly at the pink haired girl's expression.
"So I guess you officially have a girlfriend?" The room instantly went silent. Hanai shuffled her feet by the bed. "Right? She's not just playing with you right?"
"No. I would never string her along. I promise." Yaya came out of the bathroom, already dressed, and wrapped her arm around Tsubomi's waist. "I really am sorry. I know I broke her and you did your best to pick up the pieces. If I could change how everything happened I would. But that's how it had to be at the time. I really am grateful to you for keeping her together Hanai. I mean it."
"Yaya." Tsubomi furrowed her brow, not knowing exactly what to say.
"I didn't do it for you." Hanai looked up at Yaya angrily. "I did it for her. Because I love her and would never hurt her. I didn't do it for you. I did it to keep my friend from breaking completely. I did it to keep her sane after you destroyed her."
"Hanai…" Tsubomi knew this wasn't a pleasant situation for anyone.
"Tsubomi deserves more than you can give her. She deserves someone who is going to choose her over everything and never waiver. You chose to leave. You didn't choose her. Yet she still chooses you. That better tell you how special she is. Screw up again and I'll make sure you don't come near her again. You better work yourself to death trying to make it up to her. You owe her that. You are still worthless to me, but she seems to be happiest with you. So I will work with it until you break her again. Because I know you will. You're too selfish not to. So I'll wait until she needs me again. Until then I'll be by her side like always." Hanai finally dropped her gaze from Yaya and quickly left the room. The room stayed silent for a while. No one knew how to continue from there.
"I didn't mean for that to happen…" Yaya sighed heavily, knowing it was going to be a long time before Hanai would come around. "Either way, Tsubomi, if you don't mind I think I need to steal you for a moment." Catching everyone off guard, Yaya took Tsubomi's hand and pulled her into the bathroom, quickly locking the door behind her. Everyone stared in silence at the closed door until they heard a crash from the other side. The three girls rushed to check the door for sound to make sure the couple was alright.
"Baka baka baka!" Tsubomi lay pinned on the damp floor of the shower. She lowered her voice knowing her nosey friends would be listening. "What are you doing?! They are still out there!" Her harsh whisper barely making it out before Yaya pressed her lips to the younger girl's once more.
"And?" Yaya seductively stroked Tsubomi's cheek with her finger.
"Yaya!" Tsubomi turned red quickly at the thought.
Raising her voice enough to earn a squeal outside, Yaya playfully continued to tease her girlfriend. "Oh Pinky, you're just too cute to stop." With every nibble and butterfly kiss against her skin, Yaya could feel her companion trembling more and more in quiet anticipation. "Do you want me to stop?" Yaya breathed softly into her ear. The pink haired girl bit her lip tightly, holding in the involuntary moan that threaten to escape. "All you have to do is say so." The older girl slowly brought her hand to the trim of Tsubomi's shirt, letting it slip under gently.
"Y-Yaya." The younger girl was breathing shakily at this point. She watched as an empty smile came across Yaya's features.
"I understand. I'll let you take a shower now." She stood and strode out the door before Tsubomi could even get up on her elbows.
"Yaya." The haunting look in her eyes as she spoke sent chills down Tsubomi's spine. The three younger girls stared in shock at Tsubomi on the shower floor, and back to Yaya as she grabbed her jacket and left the room.
Tsubomi raced after the upperclassman in fear. Her three friends were hot on her tail, not wanting to miss a thing. "Yaya! Wait!" The dark haired girl cooly fluttered down the stairs to the main entrance of the dorms. Tsubomi caught up to her just in time to hear the brunette answer her phone in a hushed tone.
"Yes. I made it fine. I told you I'll call if I need you. Otherwise don't call me. I need to study." A long pause while the person on the other end of the line further questioned her. Yaya's face contorted in annoyance and anger. "Yes yes. After I graduate. Geez all you do is talk about marriage. I'm in high school. I have other things on my mind." Several more seconds and a long sigh passed before she spoke again. "I understand. I appreciate that you feel that way for me, but as I told you before I can't say it back if I don't feel it. So please stop saying love."
Tsubomi's heart stopped. Who was she talking to? Someone confessing that they loved her? And what was that about marriage after graduation? Her mind was filled with questioned she was too scared to ask. One of her friends had overheard as well, and seeing the panic on Tsubomi's face only enraged her more.
"So you're getting married after you graduate?!" Tsubomi and Yaya both snapped out of their world. Hanai stood next to Yaya fuming.
"I have to go Luke, this is why I say not to call." She hung up the phone and turned around to face her young opponent. It didn't take but a second to notice Tsubomi feet away as well. "T-Tsubomi…"
"So you are just stringing her along! After everything you've put her through you are going to give her hope and then ditch her again as soon as you can get married?!" Hanai shoved the older girl backward.
"T-Tsubomi its not like that! I swear! No one was supposed to hear that conversation…" Yaya took a step toward her pink headed girlfriend but instantly grabbed her face in agony.
Hanai slapped her as her as she could. "Whether we heard it or not does not defeat the point! You are just playing with her!"
"I'm not I swear!" Yaya dodged another blow from the younger girl. "Luke has confessed to me yes! I fully admit that! I had to work for his family after my father's accident and my father couldn't pay his debt. But I'm not going to marry him!" Yaya put up her hands in defense.
"Then what marriage were you talking about after graduation?!" Tsubomi screamed in a panic.
"W-Well… that… I mean yes… okay… I was talking about me getting married…. but not to him I promise!" She pled silently to the pink haired girl to call off her hound.
"Then who?" She took Hanai by the arm to calm her. A deafening silent pause filled the air. "Yaya?" Tsubomi let go of the raging girl and took a few steps closer.
With a defeated sigh, Yaya continued. "Whoever I manage to get to fall in love with me by then." She rubbed the back of her neck nervously. "My parents are forcing me to get married within the week after graduating. They say since they have so much debt and me being over seas is too costly, I need to find a husband to support me financially since they can't afford it anymore…" She could see the hurt in the younger girl's eyes. "B-But… um… I don't think they w-would care if it was a husband or a wife as long as they didn't have to financially support me… they aren't that close minded… Luke is just a favorite of my dad's since it would clear his debt. I didn't even give him my number to call. My dad did because last time we talked I still didn't know if I would come back to you and you feel the same or not…" A deep blush had formed on the brunette's cheeks. A mirror matched on Tsubomi's as well.
Clearing her throat to gather the courage, Tsubomi shyly took Yaya's hand. "M-My family already l-likes you. S-So I don't think it w-would be hard for them to accept you…" She couldn't finish her statement. The red haze spread to her burning hot ears and even her neck was becoming a bright shade of scarlet.
A shocked expression covered Yaya's sorrowful face. "You mean you wouldn't mind marrying me?!" Tsubomi covered Yaya's mouth hastily.
"Shhh! Baka! Do you want the whole world to hear you?!" Yaya scooped the younger girl into her arms.
"I don't mind." A smirk formed on the older girl's face. "I really do love you Tsubomi." A breath caught in Tsubomi's throat. She had never heard the girl speak that way before. "Be mine forever?" Tsubomi couldn't speak for embarrassment. She nodded her head into the older girl's shoulder.
"Did I just hear that right?" Tsubomi whirled around to see her pursuers had finally caught up.
Chiho giggled at the sight. "You and Yaya are already talking marriage?"
"Well I need to lock her down or someone else will try to steal her." Tsubomi could have died.
"Baka! Baka! Baka!" She pelted the brunette with her fists in protest.
"Don't worry Pinky, you've got a lot more to look forward to." Yaya chuckled as her girlfriend's protests increased from embarrassment.
