"Faelyn," Eric tries to call out in a level tone as if to sooth a beast.
The head lifted, tilting to allow light to better flash upon her. Dark liquid was splashed about her mouth, covering her chin and neck along with some of her shirt.
"Are you full now?"
A tongue shot out, flicking over bloodied teeth, seemingly thoughtful. Sookie let her eyes look about more. One of the downed guards was trembling and silently crying with a whole arm missing. His fangs were down, heaving in breath with the pain. The arm looked to have been ripped off.
"Say something," Bill lowly hisses to her.
What? Say what to this?
"Fae?" Sookie attentively watched as she gently called out.
The panting paused, ear tilting higher as if hearing something.
"The one time we really need him," Eric growls under his breath.
"You mean Godric?" Sookie questions, keeping her voice a whisper. She sends a hard look to the two, steeling before pushing around Bill to be seen. Fae's gaze was on her like a hawk. "Fae. Everything's fine. Promise. I'm here now."
The pupils moved in and out, alarming to see. The stance relaxed some though.
"Faelyn," Eric tries. Those eyes and her form shifted to face Eric standing near to Sookie. "Count." His voice was soothing, hands where she could see them. "Can you hear the heart beat?"
Those eyes fluttered shut as if in bliss, head tilting the ear up again. Sookie felt her fear ease. Fae wasn't hurt. But she wasn't in the right mind.
"Good. I know you can sense she is yours."
Sookie shot a hard look to Eric. The hand between them, palm facing to quiet, had her saying nothing on it though. "She's safe. But you're worrying her." A whine escaped her, eyes opening to look toward Sookie with a hint of pain. "Control it."
There was a number of cracking sounds from her, like bones shifting. Sookie's hands covered her mouth to stifle the alarm at the sounds. Her head rolled about as if to ease a tension. That was some of the sound. But her body straightened and Sookie could see the body where the blood clung the shirt to her. It looked like something shifted under the shirt.
A hand rested on her to calm Sookie. "Her bones are resetting. She is fine. Eric had to throw her to save the guard."
"Should have let her eat him," Eric lowly snips, trying to keep the anger from his tone.
Fae's eyes were normal, teeth human aside from the oddly sharp canines like a cat. The claws were gone and her power wasn't disturbing her hair and clothing. Eric moved forward, hands out.
Fae frowns, looking over his clothing then at his face. It was a look that got a bark of laugh from Sookie.
"The fuck are you doing?" Fae snips, hips cocking as she looked up at Eric like he were retarded.
Eric's form relaxed, hands grasping her and pulling her to him fast. He curled her in against him in an uncharacteristic hug that looked odd for all watching. Sookie moved forward, shooting a glare at Bill.
"Fae? What happened?"
"I camph breff!"
Fae's hands shoved, one pushing on Eric's face to get her face back. The breath of air pulled in was a sharp gasp, hand still pushed to Eric's cheek in a comical sort of way. He sent a bland look down at her. She shot the bland look back.
"Don't smother me."
"You're being an idiot."
"Old habits die hard."
"Then I'll help kill it quicker."
She let out a startled sound, face slamming into his chest again. This time he was pointedly holding her head close as if to smother her. She squawked, shoving. Then she was sort of climbing him, one foot lifted high to push on his hip and the other on the front of the opposite leg just over the knee. Her rear was in the air, looking like a skit from a comedy as she tried to loose her head. She was yelling into him, words muffled. But Eric looked greatly amused as one hand swatted at his cheek.
And he let go of her head with little warning. She would have gone tumbling without his hold at her ribs. She was flushed, heaving in air with a nasty glower aimed at him. Her feet still pushing on him. Her hands grasping tightly aside from the one on his face pressed there.
"I'm dying your hair pink."
"I doubt you would."
The next words sort of died as her eyes caught his shirt. There was a bit of blood on the white shirt that was his with gashes in the cloth. But where her face bad been was a big mess. She seemed to trust his hold on her, hand pulling from his face to carefully touch at her face. Cool, sticky, and drying. She stared at the darker blood, confused.
"What happened?"
Her eyes looked up at him, the most weakness he'd seen in her. She looked to be hiding it, but he saw the fear and uncertainty in the expression and eyes.
"Return home with Sookie, Faelyn. Stay in the house."
Her eyes flick down to him, mind racing as the hand that touched her face carefully touched near a closed wound on his shoulder. The expression closed after he saw a hint of hate. Fae shoved from him more gently, trying to get down to her feet. He let her go, flats muddy and caking up the stockings she wore. She looked a mess, eyes averting from Eric pointedly. She marched from him, striding quickly toward Sookie.
Sookie extended her hand, accepting Fae's as she neared. Sookie shot a sad look toward Eric before turning to follow Fae's quick pace back to the SUV.
"Fae?"
I didn't say a word, music actually off and staring blankly at the road as I sped back to her house. She was buckled up, looking to me with worry.
"You alright?"
The vehicle let out a loud protest to the sharp turn into her drive, slamming to a stop in the end of the lot. Oh, yes. I remembered alright. The door was ripped open, car hardly off before I was dropping. Ben was jogging out of the house with Niall and Jason. Sookie dropped out quickly, extending her hands in a silent way to stop Ben and the others. Ben was the only one to step off the porch though. Sookie carefully moved to stand before the SUV.
"Fae?"
"FUCK!" I bellow in pure emotion, letting it all out. The force of it had me bent forward. The little willow that had been so pretty and not far off ripped from the ground, hurling as if a strong force had hit it.
"Sook?" Jason cautiously questions.
She waves a hand blindly behind her. I pant, hands lifting to my hair and fisting. A laugh left me, pained and teary as I dropped to squat with my back to them still.
"Was it him?" Niall calls out.
"No!" Sookie hisses back at him. "Just stop."
My breath shuttered, fighting off tears and emotions. A loud sniff escapes, hands furiously rubbing under my eyes.
"Jase," Sookie calls back, not looking from my back. "Start the shower by my room. Real hot. And get a trash-"
I jerked, arching forward as my stomach heaved. Sookie was there in a moment, holding my hair back as I puked. Her eyes widened, a hand smacking over her mouth and looking away fast.
"What?" Ben asks to something she must have thought.
He came quickly then. I trembled fingers grasping gravel almost desperately as my stomach tried to push more out. But it seemed to refuse. Metal glinted with black cloth in a mess of thick liquid that looked nearly black in the dark. But the copper sent was unmistakable. I was crying now, jerking from Sookie with a hand over my mouth.
I avoided looking to any of them, rushing into the home. Jason cursed as I slammed the door to the bathroom in his face.
Sookie had both hands over her mouth, eyes so wide as she stared down at the mess on the gravel. Ben was wide eyed, back of a hand over his mouth.
"That's a watch," Ben whispers.
Sookie's eyes shut, pulling in a shallow breath. "That's a finger," she whispers in horror. "That's the fabric of the guard's top."
Ben's eyes were sharply upon her. "Guard?"
She waves, striding to the other side of the SUV and putting her hands high on her hips and looking toward the night sky while breathing deeply. A number of deep breaths later, she finally spoke for Niall and Ben to hear. Jason was inside, yet to come out.
"Bill brought me to a hiking park shy of town, the usual way she takes back from work. Car was left running, front doors open, abandoned. We got there and she wasn't right. She apparently was fighting Eric who was trying to save some guards. I don't know what happened but she wasn't in her right mind. One of the guard's arms was ripped off, a vampire." She motions with a small swing of hand back. "She ate it. It does explain why Eric asked if she was full." Sookie pauses, eyes closing as she covers her mouth a moment to calm her stomach again.
"It's what she's been scared of. But she had a whole group of vampires scared for their lives."
"She ate his arm?" Ben questions as if he didn't believe it.
She motions back pointedly to the mess of black fabric, a finger and a nice watch. The hard look was enough to get a hissed curse from Ben, looking toward the house.
"She didn't seem to understand what was happening when we got her calmed down," Sookie continues, looking to Niall. "But as she looked to Eric, cut up and clearly having been injured, she seemed to get it. Something happened and it involved Bill and these guards."
"Sook?"
Jason leaned out the door, sparing a wary look behind him. "She's gone quiet."
"Shit."
Sookie barreled forward quickly. The door to the bathroom was tossed open. Fae huddled on the bottom of the shower, water sizzling as it touched her. But she was soaked, staring vacantly at the wall. Sookie kicked the door shut, pulling things from her pockets to keep from getting wet.
"Come on, hun'. Let's get you cleaned up. Yeah?"
There was little response as she moved in to grasp Fae under her arms and lift to start washing the mess away. The ruined clothing left at the bottom of the tub.
