I bet you guys thought I forgot about this story...or this site in general. But nah, I'm still here, just very busy. I'm honestly so sorry for making you guys wait for so long. I feel terrible, especially with the amount of love and support this story's been getting so far. I mean, I nearly have 200 reviews, and thats insane! So seriously, I can't thank you guys enough.
But anyways, enough about me. You guys are going to love this chapter, I guarantee it.
I walked outside where the rest of my friends were and they all proceeded to congratulate me for advancing into the next round. But all the while, I kept Serena's words in mind and I started to grow nervous. I bit my bottom lip in worry and fumbled with my fingers.
"Hey, we should all get ice cream to celebrate!" Drew exclaimed in excitement. Gary and the others nodded in agreement. I watched in silence as the group got into Drew's car and then Ash looked at me expectedly.
"You're invited too 'ya know," Ash said.
May approached me and grabbed my hand. "Yeah we can't have ice cream without my best friend. Besides, I know you can't resist your favourite flavour: chocolate chip," she said, giggling in delight.
"Yeah, that sounds great, but I…I'm just kinda tired. Maybe next time?" I suggested, and May eyed me suspiciously, narrowing her eyes.
Misty seemed to have the same reaction. "Oh, come on Dawn, don't let a little fatigue get in your way. I heard its discount night too," she said and the others nodded in agreement.
I shook my head in response. "You guys go ahead. Really, it's okay, I'm just not feeling it right now."
May sighed. "Well…alright, but I'm still gonna buy you a cup and I'll give it you when I get the chance," she smiled. I grinned in response and then watched as the gang got into the car. The vehicle started and within seconds, it was on the road.
I turned around and nearly jumped off my feet when I saw Ash crossing his arms. "Shit, you nearly gave me a heart attack," I said, my heart beating out of my chest.
"Okay, Dawn. You can fool all of them, but you can't fool me. What's going on? Is something wrong?" he asked. Before I could reply, he widened his eyes. "Oh…is it your 'time of the month'?"
I raised my eyebrows in confusion. "What? No, no!" I sighed. "Look, I would tell you, but…we probably need to talk somewhere else," I said.
Ash placed two fingers on the sides of his forehead and sighed with frustration. We were currently in Ash's house, seated on one of the couches in the living room. "This is exactly why I didn't want Serena to know we were dating. Now, she's threatening you, Dawn."
"I don't care about her threats, Ash. I'm worried about you," I confessed. Ash looked at me with curiosity. "There's no telling what Serena could do. Like, she could do anything at this point! She's a psychotic bitch." Ash nodded in response and then I gasped in realization. "…What if she reports you and you go to jail? Ash, I can't let that happen!"
Ash caressed my cheeks with his palms. "Relax," he said, kissing my forehead. "I'm a bit worried too, but I'm honestly not sure what we should do about this."
My eyes were a bit teary-eyed. "I don't wanna lose you, Ash," I said, my voice breaking. Ash had a saddened look in his eye and he couldn't do anything but hug me tightly for comfort. "Wait," I said, releasing him and wiping my tears. "I have an idea. What if I speak to David? Maybe he could help you get out of this."
"Dawn, don't be naïve. What I did with Serena at that time is a serious crime here. There's no way that Officer David, let alone any other police officer, would let me off the hook," he said.
"But there's no harm trying, right? I mean, David practically treats me like a daughter. So he would treat his daughter's boyfriend as his son," I said, but then Ash gave me a 'really' look. I sighed. "Look, I know what you did was bad, but Serena's been blackmailing you for years and she cheated on you too," I pointed out.
"Well yeah, but cheating doesn't get you in jail…though I seriously wish it did," Ash said, rubbing his chin in thought.
I stood up and put my hands on my hips. "Well, I'm not going to sit around and do nothing. I'm going to speak to David about this and hopefully he'll just charge you a fine or something."
Ash stood up to face me. "And what if he doesn't? What if he decides to take action and put me behind bars? Are you willing to risk that?"
I took his hand and rested it upon my palm. "Ash, remember you told me to take the risk of reporting Kenny? I'm trying to do the same thing. I wanna help you, Ash."
"I know, Dawn, but…it's too big of a risk, okay? I don't know how much you know Officer David, but that doesn't guarantee that he won't fulfil his job first and think of punishing me."
I nodded. "Okay…" I said, then my eyes wandered as my mind was full of thoughts. "Then I'll just tell him Serena's blackmailing you; simple as that."
Ash chuckled a bit. "Trust me, it's not that simple. You'd need proof for that," he said. I sighed in frustration and rested my head on his chest. "This is all my fault, anyway. If I hadn't been stupid that day, then…none of this would have happened."
I looked up at him, tears starting to fall from my cheeks. "But, there has to be a way out, right?" I asked, my tears probably wetting his shirt.
"I don't know, Dawn. I really don't know. I'm sorry," he said, hugging me tightly.
My eyes fluttered open and the first thing I noticed after my vision cleared was how peaceful Ash looked in the morning. My eyes widened in realization when I noticed Ash and I slept next to each other in the couch. His left arm was around my waist and he was laying down on his side, fast asleep.
I attempted to very carefully remove his arm from my waist without waking him up. With that, I slowly got down from the couch and looked at him, my lips forming into a smile.
I decided to brush my teeth before I would go back to my own place. Before I could use Ash's bathroom, he grabbed my hand from behind and I turned around to look at him. "Oh, you're up?"
He rubbed his eyes as he adjusted himself into a seating position. "What time is it?" he asked.
I looked up at the clock hanging on the wall. "It's 8:30 in the morning," I said.
Ash's eyes widened. "Oh…wow. I didn't know you were here all night."
I waved my hand in dismissal. "It's cool. I enjoyed being in your arms," I said, giggling a bit. Ash chuckled a bit. "By the way, where's your mom?"
He shrugged. "Probably at work, she's usually working almost all the time." I nodded in understanding and then Ash went to the bathroom, most likely to brush his teeth.
My phone rang, and I immediately answered once I recognized the caller ID. "Hi, David," I said, bringing the phone to my ear.
"We were able to locate Kenny," he said. "He's in the hospital."
I raised an eyebrow. "How did Kenny get to the hospital?"
"We're not too sure about that. My guess is that a few hours later, he woke up or someone clearly brought him to the hospital. And, I'm thinking the second option is more likely. He's got a severe head injury and he's been there for several days," he explained.
"Good!" I exclaimed. "He deserved it for what he did to me. He broke my trust and tried to rape me, and I will never forgive him for that," I said. "I wonder who brought him to the hospital though?"
"Do you have any idea? Any person you might be suspecting?"
I shook my head. "Unfortunately, no. Will Kenny go to jail though?"
"I can't make any promises until after he gets discharged. And that will probably be in a few more hours, according to what I saw from the reports I was shown here," he said.
"Okay…" I said, trailing off, deciding whether to tell him about Ash or not. I knew I would be taking a huge risk if I told him, but I was left with no other choice. "David, would you be able to help us out with another case? It's about Ash," I said, biting my lip.
"Sure, what's the case?"
"Well-" the phone was snatched away from my hands and I turned around to see Ash hanging up the call. "Ash! What are you doing?"
He gave me a look. "Dawn, I know you're trying to help, but I just don't want things to get worse, okay? I thought we talked about this last night," he said, returning my phone back to me.
I sighed. "I know, it's just…I feel like he's the only one that can help you right now. He may be a police officer but he can-"
"Like I said before, there's no promise he'll let me off the hook. Look, you're the only one I told about what happened that night. And that's because I trust you."
I exhaled and then looked at him. "Fine. I won't tell David about this. But I know Serena's going to report you," I said and then caressed his face. "Then you'll go to jail and we'll be separated. Are you okay with that?"
His chocolate eyes bored into my sapphire ones. "I can't handle being without you. But I did make a mistake and there's nothing I can do about it. I'm sorry," he said.
I leaned in to kiss him and he reciprocated easily, my hands moving from his face to the back of his head. His hands snaked across my waist and he deepened the kiss. As usual, my heart started to race and heat travelled throughout my body.
We were so lost during the kiss, we didn't hear the doorbell ring.
Ding-Dong! (A.N: Throwback to chapter 7 of that dream Dawn had of making out with Ash)
My brain registered the bell after a while, but we both chose to ignore it. Until it was followed by Serena's voice. "Open up Ash! I know you're in there!" she yelled and we both released, looking at each other with widened eyes. I looked at him with pleading eyes, begging him not to open the door.
However, he didn't heed to my words as he turned around. "Wait, Ash. Please, don't answer. Maybe-maybe you can escape!" I suggested.
"Dawn," he said, resting his forehead on his, "I'm sorry." He said and then walked forward to open the door.
I gasped slightly when Serena appeared, crossing her arms, slightly smirking. Behind her was a police officer and I could notice two more police vehicles. Serena noticed me behind Ash and started to laugh. "Oh, wow! This is perfect! You're here to see your boyfriend get arrested! How fortunate…for me, that is," she said.
"I have an arrest warrant for you, Mr. Ash Ketchum. For impregnating this victim under the legal age," he said as he subtly pointed towards Serena. "She presented me with her pregnancy reports which serves as proof."
Ash said nothing, as he motionlessly walked towards the officer, and then the officer placed handcuffs around his wrists. I ran up to him and hugged him tightly, crying onto his shoulder. "Please, please, please, please, please, don't go. Please!" I cried. "I love you, Ash, don't do this to me!"
Serena rolled her eyes. "Yawn. Can you hurry up? Geez."
I looked at her, anger infiltrating my eyes. "Why are you doing this?! Why can't you just let us be?" I spat in her direction.
"Because, Ash deserves it!" Serena lied. She couldn't be any more of a hypocrite right now and when she saw my tears falling, she smirked once again. "Officer," she said, looking towards him. "You can take him away," she said.
I saw a tear fall from Ash's eye as well, as the officer began to drag him along. I couldn't control my tears anymore and my face was probably a mess at this point. Serena satisfactorily smiled once she looked at my horrible state and began to exit, when the door opened once again.
I couldn't form a proper statement and backed away a few steps when I saw Kenny. My jaw had almost dropped. His head was covered with bandages and I could still notice the purple bruises on his face. Serena looked at him, appalled. "Dawn, Ash did nothing wrong that night," he said.
I raised my eyebrow, utterly confused. "Shut the fuck up," Serena said, and I scrunched my eyebrows, even more confused.
To add to the complexity of the entire situation, David entered and grabbed Serena's hands and placed it behind her back, while she was struggling. "Let go!" she yelled, but David easily covered her mouth with a gag.
"Go ahead, Kenny," David urged.
He looked at me with sympathy. "I know we didn't exactly leave off on the right note," he said, referring to when he nearly raped me. "And I'm sorry. But I'm even more sorry because neither you nor Ash knows the entire truth."
I didn't interrupt, but I was intrigued, as I wiped my tears. "That night, Ash didn't sleep with Serena; I did."
My jaw dropped in shock. "What?"
I could notice Serena struggling and attempting to escape from David's clutches, but she didn't break free. "Ash only thought he did because he was drunk and because Serena made him believe he did. Truth is, Serena's been playing a sick game and that is, she's been trying to save me and put the blame on Ash instead."
It was extremely hard to process this information. I was so shocked, I couldn't form a coherent sentence, let alone think. Then, I saw Ash at the doorway, shocked and flabbergasted. He slowly walked towards Serena and looked at her with unbelief. Serena ignored his gaze, but if I were her, I would feel extremely intimidated. "You know, I always thought you were a bitch, but I never imagined you'd stoop this low. You're a fucking hoe! You were cheating on me with Kenny and Clemont too?!"
The gag was removed and Serena scoffed. "No, I couldn't care less about Clemont. He was alright, but meh. And yeah, since this dumbass can't keep his mouth shut," she said, looking at Kenny spitefully, "Then yeah, I've been trying to save his ass this whole while. And it almost worked too. I can't believe you were that dumb enough to believe me too. You were way too drunk that night to remember anything anway," she said.
"This whole while I thought I did something wrong! I thought I was being blackmailed for a legitimate reason, but I did nothing at all! What the hell, Serena? You bitch!" He exclaimed in anger, but Serena just continued to smirk devilishly. "Why were you obsessed with me in the first place then?!"
"Because it's called acting. I couldn't let anyone know that Kenny was my boyfriend first. Duh," she said, rolling her eyes.
He looked like he wanted to punch her, but he refrained himself from doing so.
I looked at Kenny. "So why did you date me? You never had feelings for me at all did you?" I asked.
He sighed. "I'll be honest, it was a game at first. But I did really like you as time passed by. Then when I found out you didn't return my feelings, I got possessive and out of control."
"Yeah, the dumbass was supposed to just be with Dawn and not get possessive, but no, you had to go and try to rape her. Idiot," Serena said again, rolling her eyes.
"For Arceus's sake, shut up, Serena! I'm done with you and I'm done with this shit! I've hurt way too many people doing this and I can't take it anymore! And if that means confessing to what I did and going to jail, then so be it! We both deserve it anyway."
Serena scoffed. "Whatever, I don't care. I got over your ass anyway," she said.
Both Ash and I remained quiet, unable to process all this information. We watched as David dragged Serena along and the other officer taking Kenny with him as well. Ash looked at me, tears in his eyes, and I walked up closer towards him.
"Serena would make me feel like shit all these years, Dawn. Like I was the one who ruined her life. And I've been thinking the same as well," he said, looking at me. "But no, it was all just a game. She was just trying to save Kenny's sorry ass. She was blackmailing me for nothing!"
"Hey," I said, tilting his face for him to look at me. "Look on the bright side. It's over, Ash. It's finally over. You don't have to worry about Serena's threats anymore. You're free."
And as I said that, Ash looked at me upon realization and his eyes wavered a bit, before he said. "You're right. I am free. I'm free!" he exclaimed with excitement. He closed his eyes with relief. "It feels so good," he said, hugging me tightly. I grinned, as I eagerly reciprocated.
David cleared his throat and we released. Ash turned around and looked at him with gratitude. "Officer David, you have no idea how much I appreciate what you did for me. Thank you so much."
He smiled and placed his hand on Ash's shoulder. "Of course, kid, I'm a police officer. It's my duty to help the innocent."
"But…how did you know? We didn't even tell you," I said.
"You didn't have to. Once Kenny was discharged, I interrogated him and he sang like a lullaby because he felt guilty. He mentioned how Serena was the one who brought him to the hospital and of course confessed that he was the one to sleep with Serena."
"I can't believe Kenny would do that," I said.
"I guess it was eating him alive or something?" Ash guessed, and David shrugged in response.
"Whatever the reason may be, in reality, Kenny saved you, Ash. Otherwise you'd have been in the slammer by now."
I nodded in agreement. "But how did you know I was getting arrested?" Ash asked.
"That other officer Serena filed a complaint to is one of my buddies. He told me about the warrant right after I finished interrogating Kenny. I rushed here as soon as I could."
"David…thank you so much. If it weren't for you, then, I don't know what I would have done," I said, as Ash hugged me from behind.
He smiled. "Again, not a problem, kiddo. And don't worry, Kenny and Serena are going to be punished accordingly. You two won't have to worry about them for a very long time." Hearing that being uttered from David was so relieving.
"We should celebrate," Ash suggested, and I nodded in agreement.
David seemed to grow interested. "Actually, I was thinking of having dinner with your mom, Dawn. You could invite Ash, if you desire."
"That'd be perfect! What do you think, Ash?" I asked, looking behind him and he just kissed my cheek in response, signalling a 'yes'.
"Okay, you kids join up then. I'll be at your place, Dawn," he said, closing the door behind us.
Ash kept hugging me from behind and I couldn't contain my grin. "Today has certainly been an interesting day," I said and Ash nodded in response. I turned around, his hands still on my waist. "But it's also a good one, because we can finally be together with no restraints."
"Finally," he mumbled before connecting his lips with mine.
It was at that moment where we were both at peace.
Finalllyyyyyyy Serena and Kenny are done for. At first, I was going to drag this chapter and add more drama but I decided to scrap it. I thought it would be way too unnecessary, to be honest. Besides I'm pretty sure you guys are done with Serena as well.
Unfortunately though, I am going to be ending this fic soon. And there are probably only two or three chapters left. Originally I wanted thirty chapters but I honestly don't think it's needed. Also, yes, the plot of Kenny and Serena secretly having a 'fling' or whatever you wanna call it was planned from the very beginning of this story. In fact, there are some readers who caught onto it, even though I but subtle hints throughout the story. So good job for whoever made that conclusion!
Thank you guys so much for reading and I hope you guys continue to stick around. Leave a review and let me know your thoughts. And hopefully, I'll see you guys next time! :)
