chapter 13
Some how, beyond any understanding, Kagome had convinced the cold hearted demon she was currently traveling with, to travel with two more humans, a bakeneko and a kitsune. Given that the daiyokai hated humans, he now had four in his company with two lesser demons and one faithful - yet annoying- demon servant. Kagome could still not believe that somehow he had let this happen, let alone the fact that Inuyasha had not been seen either, but she knew it would not last long.
"I think we need to split ways soon." Miroku said that night, as if reading Kagome's thoughts as they sat around the camp fire the set up that night. Rin was already out and curled up into Ah-Un's side and Kagome was sitting on her sleeping bag near by.
"What do you mean?" Kagome asked frowning, she didn't want them to leave though she figured they would have to at some point.
"Inuyasha needs us." Miroku said and looked to Sango who nodded.
"He is alone after all." She stated adjusting her self in her own sleeping spot with a yawn.
"You guys talked this over?" She asked, looking to shippo who was looking away from her. "You too?" She asked with a frown, Shippo glanced her way, then quickly back at the ground. "I don't wanna risk leaving with out them and Sesshomaru telling to leave.. I don't wanna be a lone." He then looked to Kagome with a smile. "Plus someone had to keep the hanyou in his place." He gave a grin and Kagome smiled a small sad smile.
"It's true... It would be bad if he was alone.." Kagome trailed off.
"We also know you need to figure our self out and we don't want to burden you or Sesshomaru." Sango begun.
"So we decided to go with out you for now, till you are ready to come back." Miroku said with a smile.
"yea! WE know you need your space. WE are just thinking of it like you went home for a break!" Shippo chimed in cheerfully next Kagome look to eeach and nodded with a sniffle.
"Thanks guys you are the best friends I could ask for." Kagome smiled and got up to hug each in turn. They each talked for a while longer before they all decided o try and fall asleep, during their conversation they paid no mind to the missing Daiyokai, even when he had returned, in middle of conversation, they never knew he was there listening, but looking elsewhere. They did this every night, for afraid they addressed him, they would anger him and they could be possibly killed. He knew this, it was obvious as none looked him right in the eye, other then RIn, who never seemed afraid of him ever. He enjoyed that little fact, the fear he could fill them with so easily, it feed his power. Though in thought his eyes traveled to little sleeping girl, he always would wonder at night what had went though his mind when he took the girl as his ward, why he -if he even did - care about her to begin with.
Then his amber eyes moved from the younger sleeping girl, to the new older women - hanyou- laying near by. He also questioned why he had also let this human.. no Miko.. No half demon into his group as well, thinking him self insane, he stood up to walk away. They could defend them sleeves, he just needed another break. TO many humans around was boring, and annoying in itself , he had to find something to do, anything. So he went hunting for some demons who knew where near by, to have some "fun".
The next morning Sango, Miroku and Shippo packed up their things and said good bye. Kagome was sad to see them go, but she also knew she would see them again, that and what they said last night was true. Inuyasha needed someone to be with him. 'Though I can't be right now' She turned her brown eyes to the silver haired male that walked before her, then to the little girl skipping at her side. 'Right now. Being here is where I'm needed.' She thought with a small smile, her ears twitching upon her head as a bird chirped as it flew over head.
Five days later, Naraku finally reared his ugly head. He was attacking a small fishing village off the coast, where apparently there was a Jewel shard hidden. Apparently a little girl currently had it in her hands and was running out the village when Kagome and her group had arrived. Sesshomaru said nothing as he went about attacking the strange white cloak with the bamboo face upon it, and avoiding the tentacles that shot out after the young girl.
The young girl had to be no more then four or five, had long blonde hair with blue specks in it. Her ears where pointed and her eyes where a coral green as she ran past Kagome who ran after her. Noting that her hands where glowing the familiar light pink of the jewel shard.
"Wait! Little girl!" Kagome said after her, then looked to RIn. "Rin, Go hide back in the forest line." The young girl bobbed her brown hair and darted off into the forest line behind a tree, while Ah-un was guided farther into the Village, Jaken set on helping out his lord.
Kagome took off after the girl, catching up to her quickly, as the girl trip and fell. Turning she faced Kagome and begun to scream. "Leave me alone!" She screeched out, making Kagome wince.
"Wait.. I mean no harm." Kagome held out her hands defensively, and the girl shook her head.
"Noo. You want the shard. You will hurt me. Stay away!" The girl screeched again, , like the sound of nails on a chalk board, causing Kagome to wince and step back as the girl got to her feet and ran off again. Muttering under her breath, Kagome chased the girl once more. "Please! Wait. I don't want to hurt you!" Kagome pleaded but the girl kept running.
"Stay away from me demon!" The girl screeched once more, and Kagome froze, she forgot. SHe was no longer a human, her appearance was that of a demon, and she sighed. It was no use. but she had to get that shard. About to run after the girl one last time she froze when her eyes met red. Standing before her was Inuyasha, the shard in his hand and a crying girl on the ground. Kagome blinked as their eyes met.
"Kagome.." Inuyasha said out her name in a breath, as Kagome shook her head and walked up to the girl. "I'm sorry little one. I really did not mean you any harm." She tried explaining to the girl who only cried harder. She turned to Inuyasha. "Why are you so mean!" She yelled out, her hands in fist at her sides. Inuyasha blinked and held out the shard.
"She had this." He showed heer, when she reached for it, he snatched it back, Kagome frowned, then glared at him.
"That was still uncalled for. Now hand it over." She offered out her hand. Inuyasha shook his head.
"I got it fair and square, and since you no longer travel with us, it's now mine." He stated, stuffing his hands inside his sleeves and glared her down. Kagome froze at his words, speechless, before anger consumed her.
"Inuyasha... SIT!" She yelled out, then turned and walked away. 'Stupid. Heartless Half demon!" She yelled out, moving back to the village. If he didn't want her help. Maybe Sesshomaru would. When she got back to the village, most of it was on fire, Jaken was trying to shot flames at flying demons over head, as villagers scattered around screaming. 'If Only I had my bow." She cursed out, ducking an attack of a demon flying over head. She was about to turn and run when she saw a flash of silver near by, and the demon fall in half by her side.
"You can't do anything right." Inuyasha muttered, pushing past her, and went to fight off some demons. She was about to turn to curse him out when she felt a tap on her shoulder, and turned to see her bow being handed to her. She blinked, and smiled looking to sango. "We figured you would need this if we ran across you again." She smiled and went to attack a group of demons near by. Inuyasha had moved to on to Follow sesshomaru in fighting off Naraku.
"Lady Keadea said we would met again. And gave it to us." Miroku stated as he walked by, a hand on her shoulder before throwing sutras at more demons. Kagome was nearly beaming. Even if she wasn't traveling with her friends, they still had her back. Smiling she turned and took aim at the white cloaked man, and fired a large blast of spiritual energy around the arrow she had notched, and straight for her target.
Hours later, they had come to find out that the cloak was nothing more then a simple cloan of the bees that followed Naraku around. Sesshomaru and Inuyasha had begun fighting once more, and took forever to get them to stop, which caused Kagome to step in, then her and Inuyasha to fight again. Resulting in him sitting face first in the ground. After a quick round of good byes, Rin came out of hiding, Kagome held a new shard in her hand, that she stole from the knocked to the ground Inuyasha, and once again her travels with her newer company began.
AN: Sorry for taking so long. MY laptop broke and I finally just got a new one... But Im still getting used to this upgrade lol.
