Chapter 15
"Going back home"
"Hmm.. So she has switched parties." A dark voice said, staring through a mirror to glance at the figures he sees through the shinning glass. Before him, he watched as a a young female dressed in short green cloth with long brown hair as she travels around with a demon with silver hair, a young girl with hair that matched her own, and Imp demon. Though the others he paid no mind to, his gaze set an locked onto the young female as he watched her with renewed interest.
"Wont it cause some problems to acquire the jewel shards from while she is traveling with.. him?" A female voice snapped him out of his thoughts as he narrowed dark eyes on to the dark hair, red eye female before him, who stared at him from over her fan she held in front of her face.
"Are you insisting that he is stronger then me?" He snapped out, his eyes narrowing dangerously. The female snapped the fan shut and rolled her eyes at him and turn her back to him.
"I never state such words. I only stated he would make things more difficult.." She snapped back, He stared at her back for a moment, then turned a glare to the mirror before him.
"Hmm. He is stronger then that simple half bred. Though no stronger then my self." He mumbled in thought. "Kagura!" He called out.
"Yes.." The female mumbled, narrowing her eyes upon him now, wondering why he snapped her name so loud when she stood before him.
"Fetch me the girl. The Inu had proved to be no trouble before you once before." He stated with a wave of his hand, as dismissal and kept his gaze upon the mirror, as the images shift to take in the view of a different party. Of a prty that consisted of a certain silver haired half demon that was clad in red, and the priestess who traveled at his side. "Hmm.. It seems things are changing." He mumbled as he watched the images before him. The red eye female ignoring his comment, and followed his command and left the castle in a flurry of wind.
"Lady Kagome!" The girl called out, causing the brown haired female to stand from her crouched spot near a bush, as she was currently picking berries, to walk over to the younger girl and kneel beside her. "What kind of flower is that?" She asked out, pointing to a yellow and white flower. Kagome eyed it, and picked it up with her fingers and placed it behind the girls ear. "They call this one a daisy." She smiled at the girls wide grin, as she moved to another plant and asked yet another name.
For the past few days as they traveled, Kagome had taken up the role of teacher, as she taught the girl of many different plants she knew about, and the properties of each one. She taught the girl which plants where good with tea, made a nice smelling soap, ones the healed upset stomachs, and cured headaches. It was fun teaching the girl, as she learned quickly and was always eager to learn more. Kagome made a note, that if she was able to return to her home, he would grab a book or two to bring back with her, that would tell her more about different types of plants and how to make healing herbs as well. Kagome knew in this time, it was a good idea to be prepared and knew what plants where around her, for any type of situation, and the girl would need a good teacher as well.
Smiling to her self, Kagome stood, unaware of the watchful eye that had been set upon her being from an unknown source, but she was aware of the amber eyes that stared at her from the tree line of the small field she and Rin where currently standing it. She raised a brow in question, but all he did was met her gaze, then look away. Turning so that his white clothing fluttered behind him, giving the sign, it was time to move on. "Rin. Time to leave." She ushered the girl from the grass ground, to follow after Ah-Un who was being lead by Jaken. Nodding quickly, Rin gathered her pile of flowers and skipped after them in silence.
Night wore on quickly, and Kagome was feeling antsy. Enough so that Rin took notice many times and kept asking if she was okay, and Jaken complained that she was shaking more then the shaking earth of a large demon walking by. Kagome ignored his complaints, but could not shake the antsy feeling inside her. The new moon was arriving, and she did not know how it would affect her, but what affected her more, was that the Bone Easters well was no more then an hour or so walk from their current location, that the moment she realized how close it was, she started feeling her beat increase in speed. Her arms could not stay still at her sides, and her hands felt a tad clammy. She really wanted to go home, but all cost, she really wanted to avoid Inuyasha, though she also dreaded to see him. Just knowing he could be anywhere near by, set her nerves on fire. The feeling of electricity at the not knowing if he was near by, if she was going to see him, made her want to turn and run, and at the same time. Run till she found him and into his arms.
Letting out a heavy sigh, she stopped in her tracks as the sky darkened above them, and she felt an odd sensations take over her form, as the sun shrank in the sky, and the light faded, her skin tingled, and she could onl guess what was happening. A gasp from Rin near by had confirmed her suspicion. "Lady Kagome.. Your ears! They are gone!" Rin said half in shock, half in joy.
"What nonsense are you babbling about Rin. They can't simply just be go..." Jaken turned and paused in mid sentence as he took her in, making Kagome feel odd under their watchful gazes as they looked her over. "Your human!" Jaken blurted out, nearly falling over where he stood in his shock. Kagome gave a meek smile. "
"Half demons turn human upon the new moon." Sesshomaru said, his own gaze looked her over once, before looking away as if suddenly not interested. Kagome eyed him and gave a small nod. "As far as I know, yes. Though I've only met one Half demon who has turned upon a new moon." Kagome muttered out as she rang her hands a fold of her kimono.
"Why are you so antsy still?" Rin asked lightly, apparently thinking that the transformation was they only thing the older girl was worrying about. Kagome shook her head. "It's just..." She paused, and eyed the amber eyes that looked to her then. "It's just that... The way to my home.. my real home.. Is near by and..." She paused. "I would like to go home.. For a small bit." She finished, watching the demon before her, as he looked to her a moment more, before turning and walking off, Kagome sighed and looked to Jaken who huffed and followed after her.
"Don't worry Lady kagome.. I'm sure you can visit your home again one day." Rin said, trying to cheer up the sad look the girl had upon her face, Kagome nodded and followed after the demon and his traveling companions.
As the night wore on, Kagome started to fidget even more. It was dark, and the trail the where traveling upon was dark, and hard to see, yet they kept on walking with no sign of making camp. An hour passed and Kagome froze, glancing at a near by tree. She knew that tree, she was sure of it. The marking of it, marked the way to the bone eaters well. She traveled past it many times. Hope leaped into her heart, as she followed after her lead with a quicker pace. When they neared the small clearing, her head had sped up, and a smile plastered upon her face.
"I can go back?!" She said with such happiness, the demon she had been following paused and glared back at her. He said not a word as he looked back to the well then to her. She took that as a sign, though hope dropped quickly as it replaced by a hit of sadness. She suddenly thought about something. She looked back to Rin and knelled to talk to the girl. "When I return. IF.." She drew the word out, glancing at the demon once. "If you are still here. I have some things to give you from my time." Rin smiled, wished her a happy travel and that they would be here. Hoping the girl was right, Kagome walked towards the well, to the Lord Told a quick thanks as she walked by, afraid of staying back and being told she was no longer allowed to lead, she nearly skipped to the well before climbing upon the lip of it. She faced Rin, waved good by and jumped into the well, and the calming presence of the magic that allowed her travel through time.
When she reached the bottom of her well and its darkness, she felt around for the rope ladder and climbed up to the top. Using the cracks in the wood, that shone light into the dark well house. She stumbled up the stairs, and opened the old doors. Smiling at her house before her. Kagome nearly ran for the door, stopping only to slip off her shoes at the door before running into the house. "Momma! I'm home." She said, dropping her yellow bag in the hallway, as she made her way towards the light in the kitchen and found the familiar head of her mother cleaning at the dishes in the sink. About to walk towards the older female for a hug, she paused as her eyes caught the familiar red, and her gaze shot towards the dark haired male sitting at the table before her.
"So... It is true..."
