AN: Wanted to change the direction of the story a little so I deleted a few chapters.
Once down the hall we turned into a parlor. As we entered, I saw five faces staring back at us specifically me. Nicky was the first to get up.
"Cat! I'm so glad you are up," exclaimed Nicky. As she pulled me in for a hug she whispered, "We need to talk after this in private."
I gave only the slightest of nods. Rhett who had been seated next to Nicky on the couch just nodded at me. Iwan now turned us to an older couple, probably in their 40s, seated in matching armchairs near the fire place.
"My Laird bràthair-athar and Lady bràithreag, may I present Cat, what is your last name again," asked Iwan.
"My full name is actually Caitlin Rowe."
He looked a little shocked but continued, "May I present Caitlin Rowe. Caitlin may I present the Laird and Lady of Inverarnie."
I did a little curtsy or something that was supposed to be a curtsy.
"My dear, welcome," said the Laird of Inverarnie. "I hope you are recovering well?"
"Yes, my Laird. Thanks for being so kind as to opening your home to Nicky and I."
I noticed another older woman in her 40s seated next to the window. She had looked up from a book when I had come in, but now seemed engrossed with the book again. Iwan now maneuvered me towards this woman.
"Uhm, màthair may I introduce Caitlin Rowe. The other young woman Rhett and I discovered when near the stones," Iwan exclaimed.
"Really, Iwan you make it sound like you discovered a new country when in fact my dear you and your cousin kidnapped two women," she replied with some sass. This left Iwan speechless and Rhett snorting. She smiled, "Now my dear it is nice to meet you. My name is Aileen. I'm sorry if my oaf of a son and nephew caused you any offense."
"Well now that everyone is introduced let us have tea," declared the Laird. With that he pulled a little tassel and within minutes tea was brought to us. Iwan and I position ourselves across from Nicky and Rhett on the other couch.
Tea was taken in silence mostly. I think I was being sized up by the Laird and Lady, but I wasn't going to provoke any conversation. Small talk was made about the weather and how my health was fairing, but I didn't say anything about my personal life as I didn't know what Nicky had already said about us. After tea was finished, I was starting to tire so I asked Nicky to help me upstairs.
As we left the room I heard soft voices start conversation most likely about Nicky and I.
