Cough. Cough. Cough.
The coughing has become too violent now, blood staining my cloth. I feel my left hand being squeezed, I look and see my crying daughter. My Fionna. I caressed her face, trying to comfort her but my hand falls to my side. As breathing becomes increasingly difficult. My son is on the other side, standing tall, the fate of our kingdom will now rest on his shoulders. It's a shame I have to pass on the burden of the crown to him so soon but I cannot fight this illness any longer. I hope they can understand why I have to leave them, my time has come. I rest my head back and close my eyes, calming myself until death comes to claim me. When I open my eyes again, I am not in my chambers with my grieving children, I'm in a meadow. I am no longer suffering, no longer in pain, everything is tranquil. I put my hand out to block out the sunlight, these hands look younger than the ones I had left. It is like I am young again in the great beyond. I stand up and walk around and come up to a brook, where am I supposed to go now? I wonder. I stop dead in my tracks at what I see. A young girl in a light purple dress, kneeling by the water's edge, letting the water flow through her fingers. Golden hair shining in the sunlight like spun gold.
"Anya?" I hear myself say but I can't believe it. Is it really her?
She stands up, turns and looks at me. What at first was confusion turned into a loving warm smile.
"Hello again, Adam. I've missed you."
My heart lifts up in the greatest joy, a joy that I haven't felt in a long time. She holds out a hand to me, I gladly take it and we walk to a bright light in the distance. I know not where it goes but I know that everything will be alright. I close my eyes, feeling the warm sun on my skin, smile at Anya and we walk into the great beyond together, not looking back.
Finally after 6 long crazy years I have finished this story. Thank you all for sticking it out with me this long, it means the world to me. Writing this story was really fun and I hope you all loved it as much as I had writing it. I am honored by all my fans for supporting me in writing this fanfic and those who kept motivating me to get this done. Thank you all for your love and support, it really means alot to me. Now, on to the next story.
