Hey everyone I know that I have been saying this a lot but I am glad that I am finally getting back into my writing and I hope that you like the twist that I have in store for this coming chapter.

WARNING: If you haven't read The Search Part 1 or any of the Avatar comics from Dark Horse, that came out after the Avatar: The Last Airbender came out then you will be really lost at there this is going at it contains some SPOILERS. Sorry but I just read The Search recently and I have to find a way to incorporate all this new information into this story since I haven't really gone anywhere with this yet like I have with Fire Lord's Daughter. Yes, I have contained some ACTUAL content from the book just because it fits with how I am taking this story.

Anyway! On with the show!

Kyoshi Fire Lady

Let The Cat Out Of The Bag, Part 1

Suki sat in Zuko's office helping him by organizing the paperwork that he had to take care of, he appreciated that she helped him keep things straight since there was no way he was going to get that all done on his own along with sending letters to Aang and others to help with his restoration movement. Paperwork was always the worse part about this job but it had to be done in between his love life and his traveling life which he seemed to be doing quite a bit of. They worked in the office all day only leaving for bathroom breaks and for food but there wasn't much that they wanted to do, they called it quits after the sun had long gone and the paper work started not making sense to either one of them.

Zuko was famous for his late night walks that he took to go see his father, Suki accompanied him and she had known about his little adventures since Mai packed up and ran. Suki waited outside the door waiting for Zuko to finish talking to his father, it was mostly a one sided conversation and usually left Zuko angry so he had to go and cool off. Tonight was somehow different he came out and quickly rushed past Suki and back to the palace, Suki had to pick up her robes so she could keep up with the fast paced Fire Lord.

She found him in his office writing a letter and quickly sending it off on messenger hawk, he had a look on his face that she hadn't seen before and it was starting to worry her.

"What was that all about?" She sat on the sofa in his office and looked at him, her green eyes filled with concern.

"I have to go find my mother but I have to find a way to get my father to tell me where she is." Zuko was completely serious about his request, but his face softened when he seen the look on his wife's face. "I am just asking Aang for some advise is all and for him to come down so we can discuss some further plans."

"I know that finding your mother is very important to you Zuko, but who will stay behind and keep the palace in order while you are gone on your quest? I would like to come and honestly I don't know how to do most of the jobs that you do." Zuko sat with her on the little couch and held her close knowing that she was completely right and that he would have to figure that out as well.

"I will figure it out so you can come to, I wouldn't want to leave you behind any way." He kissed her deeply, "Plus who will be there to kick my butt when I need to get straightened out again?"

"Hmm, I have no idea." Suki laughed and kissed him again, she didn't know what she would do with out him in her life and it was definitely hard to try to picture it in her head.

Zuko and Suki traveled to Yu Dao for a meeting on how to better the Earth Kingdom, they were dressed up in their formal robes proving that they were well representing the Fire Nation. Suki felt odd that she wasn't in her normal Kyoshi Warrior uniform when attending a meeting but she was learning to change her ways, Ty Lee and a few of the other Kyoshi Warriors escorted the royals to the meetings as there had been previous threats made on them but nothing ever became anything real. Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph were at the meeting already and were seated in their assigned seats, others from the different nations also filled the remaining seats.

At one point in the meeting Sokka, Aang, and Katara had a whispering argument over something, Zuko blocked it out while he was listening to every word that the lecturing guy was saying. Suki hadn't ever noticed Zuko so interested in any of the meetings he was apart of, she sat and listened closely or as close as she could while the guy continued to talk about nonsense that she probably wouldn't understand but she did try hard to stay focus. It was a little hard to do when Sokka got hit in the face with a snowball but she had to keep herself composed for the sake of her new title.

Zuko's attention was caught by something said and he raised his hand to speak. "Professor, can you repeat that last part?"

"I was explaining Fire Lord Zuko, an ancient Earth kingdom philosophy: Family is in essence a small nation, and the nation a large family. Do you understand?" The professor gave Zuko a rather irritated look, Suki tried to hide her confused face as she didn't know what to think of the jumble of words that popped out of the professors mouth. "In treating his own family with dignity, a ruler learns to govern his nation with dignity."

Aang and Suki both took notice in Zuko's new interest in whatever it was that the professor had said, after the meeting was over they both confronted Zuko about what happened in the meeting as Katara and Sokka had one of their usual sibling arguments.

"Are you alright, Zuko?" The two asked in almost perfect unison.

"Didn't you hear him? I put my father in a prison and my sister in a institution. My mother's been banished for years. What does that mean for my nation?" Zuko was dead serious when he spoke and Suki could tell that this had been troubling him for a while, he talked about finding his mother for a long time and has asked his father about her location almost every time he went to the prison. She hated seeing him disappointed when he didn't get the answer he really wanted, she tried to make things better but there really wasn't any way she could. All she could do was promise that she would stand by his side and help him to find his mother, no matter the price.

"Zuko, that's not what-" Suki cut off Aang as he spoke.

"We will find your mother together, you're a great Fire Lord and your- Our people should be more than honored that you are trying so hard to make things right for them." Suki gave him a loving smile and placed one of her loving hands on his shoulder, Aang knew that Suki was right and was amazed at her control on the situation which caused Zuko to relax and actually smile.

When everyone was able to finally leave they all went their separate ways promising to stay in touch even though none of then were ever good at doing that. Suki and Zuko sat in the War Balloon as they headed home, it was a long way to travel but it was quicker than taking one of the ships. Suki had fallen asleep, wrapped in one of the blankets that was laying in the basket. Zuko sat and watched the fire making sure that it kept them at a certain height, Ty Lee and a few other Kyoshi Warriors were also asleep in the basket like Suki was.

Zuko took this time to think about what he was going to do once he got back to the palace, he had to find his mother and he had one thought on how to get her back. Getting his father to tell where she was, and how he was going to accomplish this was still uncertain but the thought of using his psycho sister crossed his mind a few times. He would have to talk to Suki about what his plan when they had the time, right now he was just focused on getting them home and that was still a long flight away.

Suki and Zuko Sat in the dining hall enjoying the breakfast as usual and catching up on what happened while they were gone, thankfully nothing happened which made less paperwork which meant that there was nothing to do for that day. They could finally have a them day, it had been too long since they could just be themselves.

"Isn't it nice to finally be duty free for one day?" Suki smiled as she sipped on the cup of tea in her hands, she was really enjoying herself because for once she was wearing lounging clothes and not formal Fire Lady attire.

"It is very nice, plus I was wanting to talk to you about something that I have been planning." Zuko grinned as he looked at Suki.

"You did? What's on you mind?" She tipped her head as she became interested in what he wanted to tell her.

"Well while we were on our way back from Yu Dao, I began thinking about how I am going to find my mother and how I was going to get my father to tell me her location." He paused as the servants came and took away their empty plates and refilled their tea cups, once they were gone he continued. "I was thinking that I may have to use Azula to find out, since father really only talks to Azula-" He stopped not really knowing where to continue the whole getting the information process.

"But Azula is still dangerous, I know that she is wrapped up like a mummy at the moment and talks to walls but don't you think that getting her to do something for us is going to come with a price?" Her bright green eyes looked at him with worry and understanding.

"I know that she is going to ask for something, what is the question. It's all that I can think of to get some information out of father." Zuko looked down into his tea.

"Well lets see how things go and work on the problems as they arise, I don't assume she will ask for the position of Fire Lord again." Suki placed a loving hand over his. "We should start our plan before the day is completely over."

"I didn't think you would be this excited about this plan." Zuko chuckled

"Hey I would like to meet my mother in law even if it means working with my crazy sister in law." Suki laughed

"If you say so." Zuko laughed with her filling the room and halls with laughter.
