Five
Avery
Avery yawned walking out of the conference room. It was a standard meeting about the cleanup in China. It's been about a month since the happenings. Avery wasn't there herself, but the pictures, videos, and files give her the chills. She made her way back to her suite and flopped onto the sofa. The female soon realized she had laundry to do unfortunately and stood up. Making her way to her dirty clothes hammock and dragged it along with baskets. She glanced at the boxes around her suite, realizing that she has to unpack and settle in still.
Avery is less than happy to find out the laundry room in the Back Hall of the building is currently out of service, so she'd have to take her laundry to local laundromat. The drive wasn't a long one, and it was nice day as well.
Avery was happy to see that she and another girl were the only two there. It wasn't crowded like usual. Avery took her e-reader with her to catch up on some much needed recreational reading. It will help her take her mind off of some things. Starting the chapter, the woman sat down on the chair. The other female in the facility was loading up her clothes in the wash. The woman turned to the counter but to her dismay she had forgotten detergent for her garments.
"Dammit!" the woman said aloud, she was annoyed. Avery locked her e-reader and glanced up, the woman reaching over to grab her own detergent and handed it to the other woman.
"Here use it." giving her best charming smirk. Avery looked at her with calm eyes. The woman nodded and smiled back.
"Thanks so much." she paused, putting the detergent in the wash, then starting it. She eyed Avery for a moment. "I'm Ivy."
"Avery." putting a hand out for Ivy to shake. She did. The female handed the other the detergent and Avery put it with her baskets. Avery sat next to Ivy.
"So, you're apart of the BSSA?" Ivy asked suddenly. Avery blinked, "No, I just looked that you put your uniform in the wash. Sorry.." Ivy blushed, apologetic.
Avery only smiled, "No it's fine. And yes, I am." Avery laced her hands together leaning forward as she sat casually. She had her own boyish swagger about herself that made her even more attractive. "So what do you do if you don't mind me asking?" Avery was curious.
"I'm a writer." Ivy replied casually.
Avery grinned, "That's awesome! Publish anything yet?"
"Well...I write columns in the local newspaper." she laughed, "I haven't gotten my big break yet." Ivy stuck her tongue out playfully. Avery noticed her tongue was pierced and thought it was hot. And that's when she noticed Ivy's features. She was utterly gorgeous. She had long black hair with a contrasting green highlights, her bangs where in a fringe. She wore tight skinny jeans and black shirt to match to fit her curvy figure. Ivy wore black jelly boots as well, her style was cute and very fitting.
Avery laughed, "It's totally fine. I get that. I'll read one of your columns." she was serious. The woman loved to read, one of her favorite pastimes.
"Really?" Ivy was grinning.
"Definitely, I actually love to read." Avery ran fingers through her light brown hair. It was short, and cut short to her head.
A pause.
"So what's your profession in the BSSA?" Ivy ran fingers through her hair, her smile alluring. Avery bit her lip.
"I'm a Special Forces Pilot and nurse. I only get into combat if needed. I'm a pilot first nurse second." Avery said calmly. Ivy had a look of thorough impression.
"Hm, you're the type I can bring home to the parents." there was a sense of blithe in her voice. Avery laughed as a response.
"Maybe." Avery winked.
Another pause.
"Hey, would you'd like to go out for some coffee sometime?" Ivy said, her face was red.
"I'd love to."
Piers
The male woke up at dusk. Carla's subordinates waking him up at the exact hour. Piers was used to getting up this early, reminding him back in the day when he was in the academy. They allowed him to shower, and actually gave him an edible breakfast. The food containing real eggs and real bacon. Even giving him toast and orange juice. Not bad. They gave Piers an attire that consisted of all black, cargo pants and combat boots, as well as shirt and coat. The man was in a bathroom getting ready, Carla walked in.
"Haven't you ever heard of knocking?" Piers was rather agitated, looking at Carla's slender frame through the mirror he was standing in front of.
"The helicopter is ready." Piers nodded, as he grabbed his coat and headed out with the female. It was a silent walk to the landing strip with Carla. It was freezing, snow on the ground. But it wasn't something foreign to Piers, having to fight in Edonia a bit had him messed up. The helicopter was already started, and the pilot waited for Piers' arrival. Although it was cold, Piers took his time to get into the helicopter. Being that he was inside for who knows how long he felt stuffy. The air smelled fresh and crisp, but eventually reaching the helicopter he groaned inwardly.
Piers climbed onto the helicopter begrudged. Carla grinned at him, and he rolled his eyes. She gave a wink to him, "Remember what I said about Downing's well being." she had to yell this from the machinery being on. Piers just nodded stiffly as a response.
The helicopter took off, and Piers got a headset. He looked down, as they left the facility and he took in the barren terrain. It was all snow. He saw Carla and her face was smug, as usual. Bitch. "Mr. Nivans I suggest you make yourself comfortable, it's a long ride to Nevada." the pilot said.
