A/N: Hiiiii guys! Wow… It's been a bit.

F: Fascinate

The word 'fascinate' is defined as "to draw irresistibly the attention and interest of someone".

One of the things Amelia found fascinating about him was his hair. It was a deep chocolate brown, the same color as his eyes. It went almost to his shoulders, and he refused to have it cut. Amelia had casually mentioned the length of it before, and Delbert had gone off into a ridiculous tangent about how he was "so tired" of people complaining about his hair.

Amelia laughed to herself when she remembered how the only thing that had shut him up was her scratching him behind his ear. He had melted against her, his tail wagging furiously as she explained that she liked how long it was. He had then apologized for going off on her, his face reddening sheepishly.

The main thing Amelia found fascinating about his hair was the way it felt and moved. Honestly, Delbert had just the softest hair. For someone so focused on books and learning, she'd been pleasantly surprised to find his hair soft as silk. Delbert used to complain about how often she would run her fingers through it at random moments during the day, but now he apparently welcomed it. Sometimes he would come home after a long day of mapping out new constellations and giving long speeches at the Academy, and would just collapse on the couch, dropping his head in her lap. She would roll her eyes, then automatically run her fingers through his hair as she read her book.

His eyes also fascinated her as well. Although brown is the most common eye color, something about Delbert's eyes gave her a warm, tingly feeling that made her smile no matter what. The way he looked at her… She always knew when he was, and it still made her laugh when she would catch him watching her with that lovestruck grin of his, and those eyes would go wide with embarrassment.

She had no idea that her eyes fascinated him as well. Those sharp emerald windows to her soul had been what initially drew him in and captured his heart. How something so simple could convey so much emotion was beyond him.

He remembered the first time their eyes had met, and remembered how the fire in her eyes had intrigued him. All the determination and pride he'd seen in the few moments of eye contact he'd had with her was mind-blowing to him.

Thinking back, he remembered how enamored he'd been on Treasure Planet when her eyes met his once again.

They were sitting in BEN's home on Treasure Planet, both of them well aware of the dropping temperature. Amelia had been shivering in her sleep, and Delbert hesitated before draping his coat over her small frame, allowing her to use his chest as a pillow. He had struggled to explain why he moved her into his lap when she finally did wake up, and she had let him ramble until he noticed her deadpan expression. Her eyebrow had been raised, but amusement with a tinge of adoration had sparkled in her eyes.

Upon their return to Montressor, before they decided to pursue a relationship, he remembered longing to just stare into those eyes of hers. He had just laid in bed, hands behind his head, thinking about her. He would wake up the next morning, rest-broken but in a deliriously good mood.

After they had agreed to start a relationship, he loved those 'awkward moments' where they would just stare into each other's eyes and smile, and after they got married those moments weren't quite so awkward.

The funny thing was, he found himself fascinated by her at the oddest moments. They'd be out buying groceries, or he'd hear her name in a passing conversation from his students, and it was as if something flicked on in his brain. Memories of her uncontrolled laughter, the way her eyebrows raised when he said something she didn't get, or the slight pink tinge in her cheeks when he would compliment her… He'd completely zone out and forget what he was doing until someone snapped him out of it.

Sarah had been the main one to observe this behavior in him, since he'd spend his free time with her when Amelia was off in meetings or on a quick voyage to a nearby planet. She'd mention something Amelia had done or said before, and he'd suddenly zone out completely and she'd have to snap her fingers in front of his face to get his attention back.

"You know, what you have borders on obsession, Delbert." she laughed after she finally got his attention.

Delbert laughed uncomfortably, his face a deep crimson.

"I d-don't know if I'd call it that…"

"I would." Jim scoffed, getting himself another serving of stew from the pot on the stove in the Benbow's kitchen.

"Jim…" Sarah said warningly.

"I'm just telling the truth." he shrugged. "Half the time your mind is somewhere else, Doc. And when she's around, you're either holding her hand or glancing at her every 10 minutes. And don't get started on when she talks…"

Sarah rolled her eyes as her son took his third bowl of stew and left the room.

"Well, I think it's adorable." Sarah said, giving Delbert a sincere smile. "I hope she knows how fortunate she is to have someone so in love with her."

Delbert smiled, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.

"I try to make sure she knows." he chuckled, then sighed playing with his wedding band. "I still don't understand the effect she has on me. She's just… She's so special, Sarah. I find new things to love every day."

He let out a long sigh, then gave her an awkward smile.

"Am I crazy, Sarah?" he laughed.

Sarah laughed with him, and took the empty seat across from him.

"No, Delbert. Just fascinated."
