A/N: I got the sudden urge to update this story so...here you go lol ENJOY!

I: Irresistible

Delbert silently cursed his keen sense of smell. No matter where he went on The Legacy, he could tell just when Captain Amelia had been there and for how long. When she had asked him to come on this voyage as her resident astrophysicist, the first thing she had mentioned to him was the importance of her keeping up appearances.

"Can't have my crew knowing I fancy you, now can we?"

She'd said it with a smile, knowing how difficult it was going to be for both of them. In fact, when she'd brought it up, they were lying on the couch, his fingers running lazily through her hair as she relayed the details of the voyage to him. Lately, there was hardly a moment where they weren't in some kind of constant contact. Whether it was cuddling on the couch, holding hands while reading, or Delbert holding her from behind as Amelia tried (and failed due to Delbert's constant meddling) to get their lunch together…

Even now, they'd only just parted after morning roll call, where Amelia had to bite the inside of her lip just to keep from smiling at the hints of a goofy grin tugging at the corners of Delbert's mouth...And Delbert had to force himself to move to the entirely opposite side of the ship from her stateroom to keep his sanity. That was where he stood now, contemplating how long it had been since roll call, trying to stick to her "at least an hour" break between his visits.

He chuckled to himself. Sarah had mentioned something about them being worse than Jim and his new girlfriend, and Delbert was starting to realize just how true that was. He smirked, allowing himself to remember what Jim called the "incident" that occurred a week before they had departed.

"Doc? Captain?"

No response. Jim shrugged. Thankfully he wouldn't be seeing anything life-scarring happening in Delbert's observatory today. He turned back to the task at hand, walking down the hall to fetch the mop for his mom, humming softly as his hand touched the doorknob to the supply closet.

*creak*

"Oh, hi James."

"Jim?!"

"...oh come on!"

Sarah almost dropped the dustpan she had as she heard the yells from upstairs. She hurried to the living area, raising an eyebrow when she saw Jim coming down silently.

"What was that about?" Sarah walked over an amused smirk on her face. Jim looked at her, his face was bright red, giving her blank look.

"I...need...eye bleach."

"For what...exactly?"

"Supply closet… The Captain and Doc…"

Sarah's eyes widened, then she burst into laughter.

"Oh, Jim..."

A minute later, Delbert and Amelia came down the stairs, Delbert chuckling awkwardly as he tried to smooth out his clothes. Amelia on the other hand, made no attempt to do so, her own lounge shirt hanging haphazardly off of one shoulder.

"You couldn't have waited until later?" Jim asked, crossing his arms indignantly.

"You shouldn't have opened the door." Amelia said plainly, running her fingers through her disheveled hair.

"I needed the mop!"

Amelia shrugged, breezing past Sarah and Jim to the kitchen. Delbert followed sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck as he glanced at them.

"It was Amelia's idea."

Delbert smiled. They'd been more careful after that, going back to cuddling in his observatory and actually closing the door. Poor Jim had needed a day or so to recover, which Amelia had found absolutely hilarious seeing as he hadn't seen much more than some heated kissing.

Coming out of his reverie, Delbert bit his lip and checked his pocket watch again. That little walk down Memory Lane had killed maybe 10 minutes. He still had to wait over half an hour before he could go see her. Letting out a deep sigh, he made his way to his cabin where he would spend some time going over his charts. On his way there though, he caught a glimpse of her on the bridge, talking to her First Officer, Frederick Cariolla.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

She liked Cariolla well enough, although he was started to drone on and on about things she already knew. Usually she would make an excuse to leave, but right now her main objective was to kill time. And if this man wanted to take up the next half hour relaying the extensive history of Montressor to her, he could do so.

The rest of the crew was going about their duties as usual, but she saw movement and a flash of brown off to the side on the main deck. When her eyes met Delbert's, a lovestruck grin threatened to spread across her lips. She managed to keep it away, biting her lip as hard as she could without being obvious. She gave him a curt nod, silently cursing him for smirking at her the way he did, the chill that ran down her spine almost making her facade crumble in full view of the crew. He walked out of sight, more than likely on his way to his cabin.

"Don't you agree, Captain?" Cariolla was grinning, obviously glad that someone was finally listening to his extensive knowledge of war.

Amelia jumped a bit but recovered quickly.

"Ah, yes, I do." she nodded, turning back to him.

Cariolla squared his shoulders proudly.

"If you'll excuse me Ma'am, I believe that was the lunch bell."

Cariolla saluted, turning on his heel and walking away briskly. Amelia let out a soft sigh, watching as the rest of the crew went below decks for lunch. She removed her hat, glad to be alone with her thoughts at last. She chuckled softly, reminding herself to give Delbert a stern reprimand for what he'd done with that smirk of his.

"Amelia."

The feeling of his arms wrapping around her waist from behind sent all sorts of chills through her body. His voice was a husky whisper, and she laughed to cover up any other sound she might have made.

"Did you miss me, love?" she smiled softly, reaching back and playing with his ponytail.

Delbert chuckled, burying his face in her neck.

"Unequivocally."

Amelia smiled, closing her eyes as he placed a small kiss on her neck.

"You know, I have half a mind to lock you in the brig."

Delbert pulled his face away, turning her in his arms to face him.

"For what?"

Amelia raised an eyebrow, stepping backwards out of his embrace and crossing her arms.

"You know what you did and what that does to me. Cariolla could have noticed something. It's hard enough sticking to the one hour rule as it is."

Delbert let out a laugh, rubbing the back of his neck.

"I see. I apologize, Captain."

Amelia rolled her eyes, dropping her arms and turning her back to him to grab her hat from the railing.

"You're forgiven. Don't let it happen again."

Delbert sighed and pulled her back against him, smiling when she let out a small uncharacteristic squeal.

"I won't make any promises." he whispered into her hair, his arms around her middle. "You know I find you irresistible."

A/N: This chapter stressed me out for some reason. XD Hope it's okay! Review, there's plenty more to come!
