"Scarlett Odessa Stone."
Morty's brain clicked and closed the glass door to the vat where the label had been. "Look grandpa. SOS. That's her name." It had to be something, at least she was telling the truth. Rick looked over at the label not really giving a shit about it when Morty had pointed it out the first time. His eyebrows knitted together, there was no way she was older than 40. "Aren't you a little young to be in the –urpp- GFRM." Scarlett's muscles tensed. Her head was swimming as her memories flooded back to her. "Aren't you to old?" She snapped.
A small smirk played on Rick's face, his gun lowering ever so slightly. "Tell me if you're actually part of the RM, what division?"
"Intel." She mumbles not sure if she should trust the man. "What's the G-GFRM?" Morty looked between the two. "Yea Grandpa Rick why don't you tell the kid." Scarlett's words laced with sarcasm. "Why don't you tell him?" Rick said still not believe a word she was saying. There stare off lasted a few more seconds before Scarlett finally started to move about looking for her things. "If you are really one of us tell me your identification code?" She muttered pushing some boxes a side to find her locker. Rick glanced over her shoulder trying to see what she was doing.
"M-make me. –urpp-" Rolling her eyes she was able to get the thing opened. She was able to put on some dark kaki capris and a black tank top and grab her back pack. Her wet black hair sticking to her back was annoying and she looked around for anything to put it up. "His name is Rick Sanchez."
"Damn it Morty. You want to die?" Scarlett froze for a moment her eyes glazing over as her mind was kicked into over drive of names and numbers, one of her specialties. "Richard Sanchez id code EC-137.101917." Shaking her head Scarlett looked over at the man with her hand out, "SOS id code EC-137.071790." Rick looked down at her hand, letting out a burp before shooting at her. Scarlett didn't move, the shot just skimming her cheek, making a hole in the wall behind her. "Rick what the hell?!"
"Want to try again sweetheart?" Cynicism leaked from his lips. "You want me to believe you're from the Resistance movement but –urpp- you'd have to be in your fifties or sixties by now if you were in fact from earth dimension c-137." Morty looked between the two before deciding to take a safe spot behind his grandfather.
Scarlett's eyes knitted together tightly. "What year is it?" Her voice soft and rushing, "Back home. On earth what year is it?" Her finger twitched, lips parted. "2013." Morty knew his grandpa was a pain in the ass at answering simple questions.
"Oh no no no no no." Scarlet grabbed at her hair tossing box after box till she found a desk. The computer sitting there looked so old it was nothing more than a paper weight. Slapping open the side she grabbed at a few wires cursing under her breath while she tinkered. "Rick?" Morty mumbles under his breath. His head started to hurt.
"Gotcha." She said as the screen turned on, her fingers typing slow but started to remember what they used to do. After a moment she paused, shoulders slumped. "They said 3 to 5 years." The red word glaring at her broke her heart.
Walking over he glanced at the screen, her file open on the GFRM database, he didn't even know it still existed. "Fuck!" She yelled smashing her fist down on the key board. She pushed some boxes, the content flailing about just to release some frustration. Rick took the time to read her file as much as he had access to, the screen flickered and he knew it wouldn't be long before it gave out. Her photo looked like it could've been taken yesterday; the big red letters over her face spelling out abort had to be what set her off. "Operation Delta-nam." She said before falling down on her butt, defeated. "I was supposed to be volunteering only three to five years of my life." Her face fell into her hands, Morty being the good kid that he was rubbed the women's back, "Hey don't get u-upset. Im sure Rick will help you out. Right R-Rick."
"I need a drink." She mumbled before giving the young boy a small smile. "We have to go Morty." Rick put his gun away before walking toward the door. If this was an old GFR base then there had to be a portal control room somewhere. "Im not going anywhere without Scarlett." Turning around quickly the man sighed. "Fuck me Morty, F-fine."
The three started moving about the ship, "If you tell me what you're looking for I can probably help you." She rolled her eyes at the silence, the man was infuriating. "He is still m-mad. I hit the control panel messing up the portal that was supposed to take us home." Rubbing his arms a click of realization hit Scarlett. She went down the hall ahead of Rick toward the left.
"Portal control room?" She said smugly holding the door open. Avoiding her eyes Rick pushed through and started fiddling with wires and microchips on the panel. Going behind the arch where the portals materialized Scarlett hummed, "You want me to plug it in?" He looked up at the women, her smirk made him want to slap her in the face. Plugging it in the machine purred with life. "Everything is working on a backup generate, we don't have all the time in the world."
"Don't you think I know that?" He snapped, fingers working feverishly on the keyboard. A moment later the green portal opened before them. "Let's go Morty before your anal cavity complete dissolves my seeds." The boys cheeks flushed pink when Scarlett gave him a once over. "Oh geez, Come on Rick."
They didn't hesitate to walk into the green light. Toward home.
The cafeteria table was hard when they landed on it. "Fuck," Scarlett mumbled before getting back on her feet ignoring the looks of the kids trying to eat lunch. She was quick to follow behind Rick and Morty through the halls. "Oh, look, honey. It's our son with Albert Ein-douche."
Scarlett stopped in her tracks and stayed behind the corner so she wouldn't be seen. "What?" Beth eyeballed her husband for a moment. "I'm an angry father, not an improviser."
"Oh, hi, Jerry. Oh, my goodness, Morty! What are you doing out of class? We talked about this. Your your parents and I are very disappointed in in this behavior. No? No takers?" Putting her hands up to her mouth Scarlett had to keep herself from laughing. Jerry grabbed his sons arm dragging him out of the building. "We will finish this discussion at home Dad."
Once the coast was clear she walked over to Rick, arms crossed over her chest, "Nice family you got there." Without replying he started to walk out building and around the corner. His little space ship brought a smile to her lips. With a small beep the doors unlocked. Scarlett was quick to get in the passenger seat, kicking over a few empty cans of beer in the process. She wanted to make sure she didn't get left behind. Rick seemed like to type to just leave people behind.
It wasn't long till he parked on the side of his house behind some rather tall bushes. She watched Rick jump out and started to walk toward the garage but then turned back again and looked at her. "You should stay –urrpp- put." He mumbled before locking her in. A large sigh escaped her lips; fiddling around a bit she was able to push the seat back to a more comfortable possession. The fog in her brain was almost lifted and she was sure her mind was almost functioning at full capacity. The last day before she was sealed away was playing over and over in her mind.

"SOS, are you ready?" Her blue eyes glistened as her lips curled up into a smile, "Was born ready chief." She rocked on the balls of her feet for a jiffy. This was the moment she had been training for for the last 6 months. "Alright now remember when you come out of stasis there is a chance of memory lapse or loss, limited mobility, temporary blindness." She nodded already knowing everything by heart; this was starting to get a little redundant. "With in the weeks following your awakening you will be given a dream journal to long any and all nightmares or visions you might have, Sleep will be more frequent then you're used to as your body catches up with being awake after so long."
"Yes sir." She said giving him a small salute. "Scarlett, I want you to know you have my deepest gratitude and I am sorry that this was the way things turned out." Shaking the ill thoughts from her head she flashed her pearly whites. "It's not a problem, it's an honor to serve and protect the freedom of the Galaxy." In these moments Scarlett didn't care about her cover as an agent for the Galactic Federation being blown. Shit happens, it happened all the time. This is what she needed to do, to disappear for a couple of years in hopes of coming back with a new identity and again be able to infiltrate the GF.
Locking her clothes and backpack into a metal locker the woman took a deep breath before stepping into the vat. Cold electro pads scatter throughout her body and finally the mask was handed to her. The chief giving her a once over; "May good luck be a friend to you and trouble always be a stranger." For the first time since signing up for this operation Scarlett felt a lump in her throat and a pain in her chest. She knew what it was, fear. Fear of the unknown, of whatever lay ahead of her five years from now.
"Stay strong, Stand true. Fight for liberty, Die for freedom." She mumbled with a quick salute before placing the mask over her face, door closed, water pooling at her feet, rising up to her ankles, calves, and thighs. Deep breaths in, mind fuzzy, eyes droopy.

"Scarlett!?" Her heart fell into her ass hole as she shot up. Looking down trying to see how far the water was up to, she was ready to change her mind. "Hello anyone there?" She looked over next to her and it came back. "Sorry I must have dozed off. They told me it would be a side effect from the awakening." Rick gave her a once over, his lips knitted into a tight line before he started the cruiser. "Where are we going?" She asked receiving only silence.
Groaning she sat back with her arms crossed over her chest, "You know we were once comrades you could be less of a dick." Looking over to the women for only a moment Rick put his eyes back out to the windshield. "You were on a base giving out orders, memorizing numbers –urpp- Doesn't make us anything."
Her blue eyes darkened and snapped over to him, "You don't think I got my hands dirty Sanchez. Just because you were running around fighting on the front lines does not mean I wasn't balls deep in enemy territory." Her tongue stung and Scarlett instantly shut her mouth. Regardless of her status now and the status of the resistance all the information in her head was classified. Rick let the moment of silence drag on giving her an opportunity to share any more information she might have. He was worried, exactly who she was and what she did all those years ago was still a mystery. Rick didn't like mysteries.
It wasn't long till the ship stopped for a moment, the old base out before them, floating in the large abyss of space. "You know what we have to d-do right? If the galactic federation ever found this place –" She flinched; eyes glazed over at all the memories, "Yea." She mumbled before they continued on making their way back on base. Rick let her help him move the neutrino bombs off his cruiser placing them in strategic areas around the base for maximum impact. He didn't say anything when she stopped here or there and got lost, probably in some type of memory. Dusting off his hands Rick looked back over at the woman. She had been quiet, her chest heaving up and down faster the longer then were on the base.
Wordlessly they got back on the cruiser and moved some distance away. Scarlett sat up a little straighter looking at the detonator in his hand, this was it. "Here." He said handing her his flask. Her eyebrow cocked up but she took it, smelling it first before taking a long gulp and handing it back to him. She leaned back and when he pressed the button they watched space light up. Each explosion illuminating in her eyes, like thousands of little stars.
Taking a sip Rick handed the drink back to her. Her eyes glistening with what he knew were tears. There was a tug in the center of his chest. He knew that look; they were all so young and hopeful back then. They were sure with all the faith in the galaxy they would be able to take down the federation but they had lost so much. Too much, and part of him didn't want to tell her the resistance was over and that even after all these years they were still fighting for freedom.
Scarlett said nothing as they drove thru space and time back to the Smith home. The lack of alcohol in her system for so long made the liquor go straight to her head. When the cruiser stopped she stumbled out almost falling to her face till a hand rested on the small of her back, guiding her into the garage.
With a small giggle she plopped down on the couch that was pushed against the left side. Wall to wall gadgets and gismos were scattered around making her eyes go wide. If she wasn't so drained, Scarlett would be up and about tinkering. "You can stay here -urpp- for a while." She watched Rick rummage through some things on his desk before grabbing a bottle of scotch. He sat on the other side of the couch, taking a swig before handing the bottle over to the already tipsy woman.
Without hesitation she put her lips to the bottle and drank, the warmth spread from her throat to her toes and for a moment the sadness was gone, "I was sure you'd leave me out on my ass Sanchez." She said with a small hiccup. "Yea well Morty likes you and I'd never hear the end of it, y-ya know." Glancing over at the man her eyes softened a bit. "What –urpp-?" He asked when he saw her staring at him. The left side of his lips turning into a smirk the longer he looked at her, and she was beautiful.
She shrugged her shoulders and grabbed the bottle out of his hands before leaning over and putting her body weight on him. Rick tenses for a moment before he let himself relax. "The Resistance is gone isn't it?"
It seemed Rick didn't have to tell her anything, "Yea pretty much." He mumbled taking the scotch from her. "I was a double agent." She said flatly and Rick tensed again. Shit. "I was working for the Galactic Federation for years before my cover was blown and I had to disappear. That's when I signed up for Operation Delta-nam." He rested the bottle on his knee and looked down at her ebony locks. "Damn." He said needing another mouthful if he was going to have this heavy conversation. She literally gave the resistance everything; double agents had no family or friends.
"How long were you in the cryo-chamber?" He felt her go ridged against him before she sat up and turned to face him. Her eyes dark and distant, there was a pregnant pause before her lips parted, "Twenty five years."
There were very few things that made Rick speechless. This was one of them. They left her there for twenty five years; if dumb Morty hadn't messed up she might not even be awake. "So I guess I owe you my life." She was back to being playful grabbing the bottle back from him. She took a few gulps more than a tiny woman should before giving him the bottle and laying back her head in his lap. She moved a bit before finding a comfortable position a yawn escaping her heart shaped lips.
"They told me I'd be tired all the time but man am I beat." She muttered eyes half closed before they fluttered open for a moment. "Good night Rick."
He watched till her breathing became regular and drank till his mind slowed down. Occasionally looking at the woman, trying to figure out what his next move would be. "God d-damn. –urpp-."
