Author's note: So it's been a while since I've posted anything. I recently held a Saria week over on Tumblr and wanted to share some of the entries here.

Fairy

Each of the Kokiri children has their own guardian fairy. These fairies are destined to watch over their child, guide them through life, protect them from harm and most importantly, be an invaluable friend. Every fairy begins life as a simple golden sprite, twirling their way along the breeze amongst the forest creatures. Those chosen to become guardians will then be presented with a specific colour, depending on their personal traits. Purple fairies are stubborn and mischievous, green are calm and laid back, red are often warm and friendly, orange can be outgoing and adventurous while blue fairies are loyal and wise. Despite their differences, every fairy's main purpose is to provide their child with the best guidance possible. However, not every Kokiri gets a guardian fairy right away...

"How much further?" An aggravated young Link asked as he was being led by a giggling Saria who had her hands over his eyes.

"We're here, you can look now!" Taking her hands away from his eyes, the Kokiri girl grinned at his reaction.

A rainbow of coloured fairies greeted the pair. Deep reds, light blues, forest greens, sunshine yellows, soft pinks and so many more danced through the air and skimmed the surface of the glistening water of the fairy fountain. Running into the centre, Link threw his arms out and spun around joyously, laughing as the tiny beings landed on his shoulders and head.

"Hiya Link!"

"Hey Link, come platy with me!"

"I want to sit on his head too!"

Link beamed at all the attention they were giving him. "Hi, you don't have to fight, I've got time to play with all of you!"

Standing near the fountain entrance, Saria smiled. It wasn't often she saw Link looking genuinely happy.

"How dd you get so many fairies to show up?" Her own fairy, Nori asked, landing on her shoulder.

"I just asked the healing fairies if they'd bring some friends along to spend time with someone special."

He may not have had his own fairy but for a few short hours, Link was able to forget his differences.

"Thanks Saria," he said as they made to leave for the village before throwing his arms around her neck. "You're the best."

"You're very welcome." She returned the hug.
