Nightmares and Dreams
"Hello, Poppets!" the witch cackled. Gabriel and Balthazar stepped back, pinning themselves against a wall as the witch approached them. Her eyes blazed darkly in the candle light and the two angels felt their blood run cold.
"Leave us alone!" Gabriel and Balthazar shouted, wings bristling as she came nearer. The witch lashed out with her powers, lifting the two baby angels off the ground and into the air. They choked, trying to call for help, but the weight around their throats stopped them. Dean and Sam burst through the doors with Castiel right behind them, guns ready. The witch turned on them, zapping them with her powers and sending the two hunters into a wall. Castiel yelped, reaching for Dean's gun and lifting it at the witch.
"Shoot, Cassie!" the angels screamed. The little angel did what he was told, but with a wave of her hand the bullet jammed and exploded in the barrel. Castiel screamed as the shrapnel from the weapon embedded itself into the angel's skin. She cackled, turning her back on the stuck angels and flicking her wrist at Castiel and pinning him up in the air as well.
"That's better," she hissed, eyes glancing at all three angels hungrily. "Are we ready?" The angel's struggled under her hold and the witch lifted her arms. Bright light exploded throughout the room and-
Gabriel and Balthazar both shot up in the beds Charlie had laid out for them after the angels started to need sleep once again. It was only a matter of time now until they took the form of baby angels again soon. They scan each other and then look to Castiel sleeping soundly on the bed closest to the door. They sighed in relief that it had all just been a dream.
"Shit. I thought Cassie was supposed to be the one with the visions," Balthazar moaned, rubbing his temple. Gabe did the same as a headache ached behind his eyes.
"Damn witch. What is she planning?" Gabe muttered.
"Maybe the same thing as the demons?" Balthazar offered. "Maybe she just wants to kill angels or crack us for information?" Gabe shakes his head.
"Then why hasn't she came after us yet? If she's so powerful why aren't we already dead-" The door opened up and Dean peeked into the room.
"You two alright?" Dean questioned. The angels were silent. Had they been yelling in their sleep? They look over the hunter and realize that there is no worry on Dean's face. Maybe he just heard talking.
"Couldn't sleep," Gabriel stated. "Still getting used to everything after all." Dean nodded.
"Well, you two might as well come help me with breakfast then. Should we make waffles or pancakes?" Dean asked. The angels grinned.
"Pancakes," they both cheered, following Dean out into the kitchen. Dean took out the mix and the angels got to work in helping mix food together. They were all silent as they worked and that was probably what tipped it off that something was wrong with both the angels.
"You two going to tell me what the real reason you both were up this morning is?" Dean asked as he flipped a pancake into the air and onto the plate.
"It was just a nightmare," Balthazar mumbled. Dean frowned at that.
"Yeah, I think we all know that just a nightmare is not just a nightmare for angels," Dean told them. "What happened in it?"
"The witch, she had found us. We don't know what she was going to do to the three of us, but I doubt it was going to be anything good," Gabriel stated, trying to be as vague as possible. He didn't want to worry the hunter. Dean still blamed himself for the last fiasco after all and after Cas' little freak out at the cinema the hunter barely lets the angels leave his sight. Balthazar and Gabriel share a look before flipping another cooked pancake on top of the plate. Nope, the less Dean knows the better. Dean scratched at the back of his neck, thinking carefully over what the angels just told him.
"Has Cas been having these dreams too?" Balthazar and Gabriel both shake their heads, remembering how peaceful Cas had been in his sleep. He may be dreaming, but he definitely isn't dreaming about that damn witch. Dean frowned again, but didn't ask any more questions. Instead he just handed Balthazar and Gabriel each a full plate of pancakes and they set them down on the table.
"We better wake up those sleepy heads before they sleep the day away," Dean said. The angels nodded, following Dean back to their bedroom. "Rise and shine, Angel!" Dean shouted, shaking Castiel's shoulder. The blue eyed angel let out a tired moan, folding a wing over his head. Dean raised a brow at the sleepy angel and then smirked in Gabriel and Balthazar's direction. "You two handle him while I kick the others out of bed," Dean orders them before walking out of the room and heading towards Sam's. Balthazar and Gabriel jump on top of Castiel's sleeping form as soon as the door closed.
"Hey!" Cas yelped as his brothers piled on top of him and began to shake him awake.
"Come on Cassie! Pancakes are getting cold!" Balthazar shouted, grabbing Cas by the legs and dragging him onto the cold floor. Gabriel tossed his smallest brother his trench coat and Cas wrapped himself in it. A long yawn left Castiel's mouth and his wings stretched out, almost breaking through the window looking out over the backyard of the apartment.
"Why didn't you say so?" Cas asked, folding up his wings again and walking out into the hallway.
"Did you have any nightmares lately, Castiel?" Cas looked at Gabriel for a moment and smiled.
"Nope, I've been sleeping well. Actually, I was just dreaming about all of us in some sort of garden before. We were small again, but everything looked fine. Why do you ask?" Gabriel frowns. Garden? Happy? Gabriel and Balthazar's dreams had been in some old rotting house and they were far from happy. "Gabriel, Balthazar, what's wrong?" Cas questioned. The two shake their heads smiling at their brother.
"Just wondering," they say as they finally make it to the kitchen. Bobby, Sam, and Kevin are all sitting tiredly by the table, chatting softly while Dean and Charlie are cooking some more pancakes and bacon.
"About time!" Dean shouted, tossing a pancake into the air. Cas flapped his wings, zapping over to the waffle and catching it before it could hit the floor and gobbled it up. Dean chuckled at his angel and handed Cas a plate before giving one to Balthazar and Gabriel. The three took their plates, smothering them in syrup by the load. Dean walked over to the two with his own plate and looked them over before smirking. "Let's keep this nightmare quiet until we learn more," he whispered. The angels both nod in agreement. Looks like Dean was on the same track as they were. The last nightmare hadn't gone to well for them, but that doesn't necessarily mean this one is going to happen either right? Still, they didn't want to chance it.
"Whatever, Dean-O," Gabe sighed, munching on a piece of his pancake. "So what's the plan for today? A movie, some Mario Cart? Hey, maybe a few pranks?" The archangel snapped his fingers at that and Dean waited for something to happen, closing his eyes.
"Gabriel!" Cas called and Dean turned to see the angel dripping head to toe in sticky syrup. A laugh burst from Dean's lips, only stopping when another click was heard from Gabe's fingers.
"God Damn it, Gabriel!" Dean swore as syrup covered him head to toe as well. The angel let out a hearty laugh and both Cas and Dean tackled the trickster, pulling him into a syrupy embrace. All former horrors disappeared then and the angels forgot about their nightmares.
Thank you Princess Aziza for the Request. Next chapter the angels will be babies again! YAY! I just put up a new SPN fic today if anyone is interested in reading it. It's called Ruffled and it's a Tangled AU. Yeah I know. What am I doing writing new fics when I still have to finish the ones I've got? I couldn't help it. I was watching Tangled and boom! The fic exploded into my face. Anyway, thanks for reading!
