A Mini Trench Coat for Cas
Dean and the rest of the team ran through the apartment. They were currently in a life and death situation. Bobby was looking through the hamper, Sammy was checking outside in the backyard, and the angels were helping Dean search the living room. There was nothing. Everywhere they turned they came back empty handed. Dean ran a hand down his face, trying to think of the last place he saw Castiel's beloved trench coat. Damn it! How does that thing always disappear? A few hours ago Charlie had been whining about wanting to go to some movie called Frozen or something. Castiel had seen the trailers for the show on the TV and instantly started bouncing up and down if he could come too. Charlie had no problem taking the little angel. Dean hadn't been too keen on the idea since it was laundry day and they needed everyone to tackle the mounds of clothes. That was until he noticed something missing from Castiel's hands. The trench coat. That coat was the number one thing that needed cleaning and by the looks of it Cas hadn't noticed its absence yet. With Cas gone they could wash it without worrying about the angel having a hissy fit since Charlie was keeping him entertained. It was a fool proof plan until they realized that the coat wasn't in the washer when they pulled everything out. Now they were running through the house like maniacs in search of Castiel's coat.
"Gabe, are you positive that you threw that thing into the hamper once Cas left?" Dean questioned, pulling off a couch cushion in hope that it had been wedged between the cushions.
"Yes!" the angel repeated for the billionth time. "As soon as Cas left I threw it in!" Gabe explained. Dean plopped down onto the couch, sighing deeply. Alright, maybe it fell out on the way? Dean shot back up from the couch, zigging down the hallways leading from the bedroom to the washer. Nothing. Shit! His eyes flicked over to the clock. The movie should be over now. Cas would be home any minute.
"Yap!" Custos barked as he came floundering in with Balthazar sitting on the great hound's back.
A light bulb winked above Dean's head. His eyes trailed over to Custos as the dog stared at him happily. Dean rushed for the puppy scratching the dog's head.
"Custos! Find Castiel's coat, Boy," Dean ordered the dog, giving it and extra pat. The puppy tilted his head to the side, sniffing the air. Everyone watched as the dog's nose searched for the sent. Custos padded slowly towards the door, yapping as the door knob began to jiggle. Everyone's face turned stark white as the door swung open and Castiel bounded inside with Charlie right behind him. "Cas, I'm sorry, but-" Dean stopped at the sight of the tan trench coat currently in Castiel's arms. How the hell…
"I don't understands. What are you sorry about, Dwean?" Castiel questioned, glancing at the others worriedly. Dean shook his head, smiling pleasantly at the angel.
"Oh, nothing, Cas. It's just that um…super is going to be a little late tonight," Dean lied. Castiel tilted his head to the side, shrugged, and then skipped into the other room humming some very annoying song he probably got from the movie. Charlie smiled after the angel.
"Thanks for letting us go, Guys. He was an angel. Well, after he ran back inside to grab that coat of his before we left," Charlie added.
"What?" Sam asked, brows raising. Charlie, waved a hand in the direction Castiel had vanished.
"He noticed it missing right before we were about to leave and grabbed it," Charlie told them. Dean allowed his face to fall into his hands and glared in the direction the angel had disappeared. They had to do something about that damn coat.
Dean was sick of the trench coat. It got in the way, dirty, and the angel was constantly losing it and freaking out because of the missing possession. The problem was that Dean couldn't just toss it. Cas loved it and if it disappeared the angel would probably scream until everyone lost their hearing. No, there had to be another way. Dean fiddled with the coat while Castiel slept on a pillow laying in front of the TV as Disney's Fantasia. Seriously, that movie could put anyone to sleep. The blue baby blanket Cas usually slept with was tucked around him and his black wings seemed cradle his fragile body. It was only natural for the angel to be tired Dean supposed. Cas and Charlie had gone to see Frozen in the cinema and then had to help finish folding and putting away the laundry.
"What you doing with that?" Kevin asked, plopping down on the couch next to Dean and reaching out to steel the remote. Dean snatched it away from the prophet, nodding at the currently sleeping angel. Kevin frowned, glaring at the television as it played music and Donald Duck led several animals onto Noah's Ark. "Dude, he's not going to wake up if I change the channel," Kevin tried to say, but Dean hushed him and went back to inspecting the trench coat.
"I'm trying to figure out what to do to this thing without pissing Cas off," Dean explained, answering Kevin's previous question. Kevin looked over the trench coat as well.
"You don't have many options then do you?" the prohet retorted. Dean sent a glare his way and Kevin held up his hands in defense before taking the trench coat and looking more seriously at the object. Dean watched as Kevin flipped it around, eyes calculating and gears turning to find an answer. "Why don't you just stitch it up so he can wear it?" Kevin offered at last. Dean pondered over the thought, head tilting to the side and then blushed when he realized who he was mimicking. Jeez, he was spending way too much time with Cas if he was picking that up already. Dean forced his head to straighten taking the coat back and holding it up to the light.
"Yeah, I would if I knew anything about making clothes fit angels," Dean murmured. Kevin wiggled uncomfortably in his seat, drawing Dean's attention. Dean eyed the uncomfortable prophet up and down. What's he so antsy about? "Kevin…"
"I know how to make costumes alright?! How and why is my business, now do you want me to show you what to do or not?" Kevin snapped before Dean had time to finish. The hunter blinked at the Prophet, processing the words and then shaking them to the back of his mind to bring up later. Right now Cas' coat was needing a few little tweaks.
"Alright, Seamstress, show me your stuff."
Dean was positive that Kevin was secretly Cinderella's fairy godmother from how his fingers seemed to fly over the fabric of Castiel's coat. Dean was pretty good at making stitches, but he sucked at trench coat stitching compared to the prophet of the lord. Kevin was even stitching tiny warding symbols into the fabric to protect the angel.
"How does it look?" Kevin questioned, holding up the coat at last. Dean looked over the tiny trench coat eyes glittering. It was perfect.
"DWEAN!" Castiel screamed from the living room. Dean and Kevin bolted to the angel to see that he had woken up from his nap and was currently in search of his trench coat.
"Calm down, Cas. We've got a surprise for you," Dean said as Kevin held up the tiny trench coat. Castiel's eyes widened at the sight of it and Kevin gingerly helped the angel into it. It was a perfect fit for the little angel.
"Thank you!" Castiel cheered, reaching up and hugging Kevin around the neck. Kevin smiled at the angel, hugging him back and Dean silently dared the trench coat to attempt disappearing now.
The coat has been miniaturized! Thanks to whoever requested the mini trench coat. I forgot to write your name down with the chapter so sorry about that. I was going to post this yesterday, but my internet cut out so you get it today. Oh well. Enjoy the chapter!
