The Picture
Charlie lay sprawled out on the floor with a glue stick in hand and surrounded by photos. In front of her was a small scrap book decorated with angel wings and an occasional Star Wars sticker.
"Watcha doin?" Balthazar asked as he walked into the living room. His hair and feathers were wet and still slightly covered in soap. He was also only wrapped in a fluffy white towel. Dean must be giving them their daily bath. Well, was would probably be more accurate. Charlie patted on the carpeted spot next to her and Balthazar sat down, looking at the book while playing with his dripping wings.
"I'm making a scrap book," Charlie explained, flipping to a page. Balthazar perked up at the sight of the page. He recognized the pictures covering it. They were from when they first turned into little shrimps. One picture was of Dean sprawled on the couch with all three angels cuddled on his chest. Another was of Bobby and Sam with Gabriel and Balthazar flapping above their heads.
"Why you making it?" Balthazar questioned, flipping another page. Charlie simply shrugged, picking up a sticker and pressing it onto Balthazar's rosy cheek.
"Just wanted something to look back too when you guys grow up and leave."
"Why woulds we leave?" Balthazar asked. Charlie was silent for a minute as she stared at the scrap book. She opened her mouth to answer, but was cut off by a scream. Her and Balthazar looked up to see Gabriel and Cas running out of the bathroom, towels thrown over their tiny bodies and water dripping from their skin.
"Son of a bitch! Get back here damn it!" Dean shouted, chasing after the angels. He was covered in suds like he had taken a nose dive into the angels' bath and judging on how pissed off he is that's exactly what happened. Gabriel took off to the air and Cas ran into Balthazar, hiding behind his big brother and giggling. Dean glared at the baby angel, lifting the angel up away from Balthy and attacking the angel's sides.
"Surrender, Gabe, or Cas gets eaten by the tickle monster!" Dean threatened, pretending to nibble on Castiel's fingers as he tickled the baby angel.
"HELP, GABBY! HELP!" Cas screamed through shrieks of laughter. Gabe sprung out from his hiding spot and raced towards his little brother, only to be captured as well by Dean. The hunter tickled both angels, stopping only when the click of a camera went off. Everyone looked to see Balthazar smirking as he held up Charlie's camera.
"Whats dats for?" Cas questioned, popping his thumb into his mouth as Dean held him. Balthazar turned to Charlie with a toothy grin.
"Scrapbooking," the angel said proudly. Charlie ruffled Balthazar's hair and began to flip through the pages again.
"We want to help!" Cas and Gabe shouted, struggling in Dean's hold. The hunter rolled his eyes, sitting down on the floor next to Balthazar.
"Fine, but after this you two are finishing your bath!" Dean told them. The angels weren't paying attention though. They were too busy watching Charlie flip through the endless pages. She stopped on one particular page. It wasn't a photo of the angels when little. They were pictures from way before they even ran into the damn witch that did this to them. The first pic was an old one of Sam, Cas, and Dean. The three were at Bobby's smiling into the camera. In the mirror off to the side behind them a woman with long blond hair was snapping the picture. Dean's face fell at the sight of her and everyone turned their gaze to the next picture. This one was with Gabriel and Sam. The two looked like they were playing poker or something.
"I remembers that!" Gabe shouted triumphantly. Dean ran a hand over his face. He remembered too. When Gabe decided to grace the hunters with his presence after declaring himself not dead he was constantly popping up with things for him and the two hunters to do together. How much Halloween candy had they lost to that damn angel? Too much to remember.
"Here we are, Balthy!" Cas squealed, pointing excitedly at a picture of the two angels sitting in an old hotel room clearly having a drinking contest. Balthazar licked his lips, pouting slightly.
"Now I'm thirsty," Balthazar grumbled, crossing his arms as he pouted.
"Have a juice packet," Dean told him before flipping the page to the next page. The angels stared at the pictures of their older selves, reminiscing about the glory days as full grown angels.
"You three miss being like that don't you?" Dean asked them. The angels stared at the photos for a moment.
"A little," Gabriel admitted. "But we missed being like this when we were older."
"Well, as soon as that witch pops up you three will get to be all grown up in no time," Dean stated, not looking too pleased with the idea. In fact, no one did.
"Whats about you guys?" Cas questioned. Dean nodded at the scrap book.
"We've got this I suppose, but...well, it's not the same is it?" the Winchester sighed. Cas tilted his head to the side.
"Is that why you don't corrects me when I says your name wrong anymore? You missed it when we got big and didn't do it anymore?" Cas questioned curiously. Dean stared at the pictures for a moment before nodding. He had been terrified after staring at the angels' dead bodies that he would never get to hear his name called out by the little angels again. He figured them screaming for him and the others would be the last he ever heard the mispronunciation.
"Dwean?" Dean didn't answer. "Dwean?" A small smirk made itself across Dean's lips as he glanced at the angel in the corner of his eye. Cas wrinkled his nose at the hunter. "DWEEN!"
"Sorry, who are you calling for?" Dean questioned. Cas smirked at him, sticking out a pink tongue. Dean did the same back before turning the page again to a blank page. The group stared at it, wondering how many pages would get to be filled.
"Whats if we don't wanna leave?" Balthazar asked, imagining the book completely stocked full of pictures. Both Charlie and Dean stared at the angels, slightly hopefully. Dean rubbed the back of his neck, smiling slightly.
"Well, then you three better get used to bath time," Dean stated, before swooping at the angels and grasping them in a big bear hug. The angels squealed as Dean dragged them towards the bathroom and Dean flashed a grin at Charlie over his shoulder. "Come on, Charlie. This ought to give you some more pictures for your book!" Dean shouted. Charlie smirked, grabbing her camera and rushing after the Winchester and the angels.
Thank you darkeyesgirl for the request! I've been writing like crazy so hopefully i'll have some more done soon. Enjoy!
