Easter Festival

Forget the Easter Rabbit. The Easter Angels were far cuter in Sam's opinion as he watched the little angels run around the yard. The yard was small, but there was still enough room for the group to go and hide some eggs for the angels. Charlie had dressed the angels up in the typical Easter Sunday outfits. Not bonnets, thank God. Dean had threatened to destroy her entire Star Trek DVD collection when she brought out the hideous hats. Nope, the boys each wore bright colored plaid sweater vests with bowties. It was a bit formal, but it was the only way to shut their geeky sister up. Of course she didn't stop at dressing the baby angels. She had made sure the rest of the house was somewhat dressed in the Easter attire. Honestly, has anyone dressed up for Easter since a billion years ago? Kevin was decked out in a nice white shirt and denim jacket. His hair was actually combed for once, but it still looked untamed. Charlie had somehow gotten Dean out of his favorite jacket and forced him into a green T-shirt and then a dark jacket. It wasn't a suit like what Charlie had found when looking up Easter Sunday outfits, but Dean at least took it. Although, Charlie was still trying to get the bow tie around his neck, saying that he had to match his angels. Sam had been lucky. Charlie had accepted his plaid shirt when he woke up that morning. She had said he matched the angels perfectly. Bobby was the only one that Charlie didn't try to pester about clothing. There are even lines Charlie won't cross. The nerd girl in question was dressed in a bright Easter dress. Sam and the others had never expected to see her in a dress, but she had surprised them. Her dress wasn't the typical flowery dress everyone wears on Easter. Hers was a mix of blues and purples, matching the color of Gabe, Cas, and Balthazar's vests and bow ties. It had spaghetti straps and went down to her knees. In her fiery red hair was a purple bow that pinned her hair to the side a little. The hunters had to admit. She looked beautiful.

"There! Now leave it on!" Charlie shouted after finally succeeding on tying a bowtie around her adopted brother's neck. Dean stopped struggling and glared down at himself.

"Charlie, you've dressed us like we're going to fucking church!" Dean shouted, glaring up at her. Charlie smirked at him and pulled out a flier. Dean leaned close to it, reading the print. "Easter Festival?" Dean questioned. Charlie nodded.

"They've got candy for the kids, games, petting zoos, some awesome bands playing, and some other stuff that should keep the angels occupied for the day and we should look at least a little presentable," Charlie stated, turning her gaze towards the angels. They were running around the yard, flying up trees and climbing under shrubs in search for the eggs filled with candy. Kevin was even helping them find a couple (stealing a few eggs for himself of course).

"I'll go start the Impala then," Dean decided, walking towards the front of the apartment and ripping off his bowtie on the way. Charlie shouted a threat after him and Dean only picked up his pace, disappearing into his car.

The festival was pretty cool for such a small town. It sort of reminded him of festivals in Marshfield, Wisconsin when he and Sammy were just kids. There were a few shops set up where people sold jewelry or handmade objects. One stand was selling animals carved from old logs and another was selling handmade clothes and hats. A few food shops and booths for games were mixed around the small park also. In a field next to the small park were wheelbarrow races and that stupid game where you put an egg on a spoon and have to walk it across the finish line.

"What should we do?" Dean asked the angels as they walked past a few shops. Castiel was sitting in his arms, Charlie had Balthazar, and Sam had Gabriel while Kevin and Bobby carried the picnic basket Charlie had packed for lunch later. The angels scanned the area until their eyes fell on a big stage set up in the center of the park. The group squinted at the sign on the stage.

Pie Eating Contest: Winner gets more pie!

Sam giggled. That was definitely Dean's kind of contest. Dean marched up to the stage, fiddling with the bunny ears currently on his head. Charlie had told Cas to stick them onto of the hunter's head after Dean had pulled off the bow tie she had spent so much time trying to attach to the hunter. Dean had tried to remove the ears too, but Gabe would always zap it back on or Castiel would threaten to cry. The older Winchester had in other words lost his battle against Charlie and her Easter dress code. When there, a woman gave him a ticket and told him to sit at a table. Dean handed Cas off to Kevin before leaving and the rest of the group hung out in the audience. Just as the angels were starting to fidget, a band set up next to the stage and started to play. The Gabriel was out of Sam's arms instantly and the other two tugged Kevin and Charlie with them over to dance with their big brother. A few people stopped to smile at the baby angels and two dancing humans. Soon a crowd was gathered and the lady that gave Dean a ticket began speaking in a microphone, announcing the start of the pie contest. Everyone watched excitedly and a whistle was blown. Dean and six others started eating instantly. The crowd cheered them on and the band started again. The drummer stopped playing for a second to lift Balthazar onto his lap and hand the angel one of the sticks so he could help the drummer play. Castiel and Gabriel in the meantime danced with Charlie and Gabriel. Another whistle blew and the pie eaters halted. One man was bent over at the stomach, one had barely made it past the first pie, and then there was Dean. The hunter had four pans at his side and was still eating! The woman from before stared at Dean with wide eyes before finally announcing him as the winner and handing him a homemade raspberry pie. Dean thanked her and rushed over to his family, holding up the pie triumphantly. They had dessert to go with their lunch now. Bobby took it from his and stuffed it into the basket. Dean's eyes went over to the British angel still jamming out with the drummer of the band currently playing. Dean laughed and walked over to one of the singers, whispering a request. The singer whispered to his bass man for a moment before turning back to Dean and nodding. Dean thanked them and scurried back to the group again. Just like that, the band started playing Eye of the Tiger. Sam rolled his eyes at the familiar tune, but his brother didn't care. Dean reached out a hand, grabbing Charlie and the two started dancing together, looking like any brother and sister having the time of their lives. Castiel and Gabriel scurried under their legs, copping the two humans' movements. Kevin pulled out his phone, filming the entire thing with a wide smile. Bobby and Sam met each other's gazes and glanced at the rest of their family. Damn it. The two of them rushed onto the dance floor and joined the others.

Happy Easter!
