Happy Daddy's Day
"HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, BOBBY!" Bobby looked up, surprise in his eyes as two small boys came running towards him with open arms. His smile grew wide at the sight of the two and he pulled them into a tight embrace. "We got you something, Dean whispered, pulling back slightly. Bobby stared at the two with his brows raised at them. Giggling, the Sam pulled a small pie out from behind his back. The crust was slightly burnt, but Bobby could tell by the smell that it was a good one. Bobby took the pie from Sam and breathed in a big puff of the delicious smell. Dean's freckled face scrunched slightly as he smiled even wider and Sammy was practically jumping up and down with glee. Reaching out a big bear arm, Bobby pulled the boys into a big hug and swept them off their feet. The boys laughed as Bobby carried his two sons into the house.
"Thanks, boys," he whispered softly as they walked. The boys continued smiling.
"Anytime, Bobby!" Dean shouted, pressing a kiss to Bobby's scruffy cheek. "I hope my kids will surprise me too for father's day." Bobby stiffened.
"What?" he questioned. Dean frowned slightly and Sam shared in on the look.
"We will have kids one day. Don't you think so, Bobby?" Bobby grew silent, knowing better than to answer something he couldn't promise.
It was that memory that returned to Bobby's mind as he entered the kitchen. Sam and Dean bustled around in the kitchen, doing hell knows what.
"What are you idjits doing up so early?" Bobby questioned as he shuffled into the kitchen. Dean popped a big, fat cherry pie out of the oven and held it up towards Bobby while Sam threw his hands up in the air.
"Happy father's day!" they shouted. Bobby smiled at the two widely and Dean set the pie on the table while Sam dug out a knife. When they were kids, John was never around for Father's Day. The boys would always have something for him when he returned, but they would spend the day with Bobby. Eventually it became a constant for the boys on the holiday. Even when on cases the boys would give him a call or drop everything and visit.
Sam began cutting into the pie and Dean recalled that they were still missing four members of their family. Kevin had gone home to visit his Mom. It had been years since what happened to his Dad, but he never let his mom spend the day alone. Charlie had stuck around, but it looked like she was sleeping in today along with the angels. Dean had thought about waking the little angels, but decided against it and had let the three sleep. Well, it was time for that to end!
"Charlie, Angels! Pie is ready!" Dean shouted as he put a slice on a plate for Bobby and then took one himself. They waited for the four to come running in, but nothing happened. Dean frowned glancing at his brother and Bobby. "Wonder what's keeping them," he muttered, slowly getting up from his chair. Bobby smiled into his pie covered fork, knowing exactly what was keeping them.
"Why don't you go see for yourself?" Bobby suggested. Sam and Dean shared a look before nodding and moving their way towards the bedroom the angels slept in when they weren't napping with Dean or Sam. Dean slowly opened the door to the angels' bedroom and he and Sammy walked inside.
"Surprise!" the angel's screeched. "Happy Father's Day!" The two hunters jumped, hearts jumping out of their chests. Charlie and the angels had popped out from under the bed, smiling up at the hunters.
"What's this about?"
"It's Daddy's Day!" Castiel shouted, jumping up and down and clinging onto the hunters. Dean and Sam both shared a look of confusion. Gabriel smirked at the two hunters while his younger brothers jumped around excitedly.
"What? You're spending the day with your adopted Daddy. Why can't we?" Dean and Sam both stared at Gabe with wide eyes. Gabe only smiled and Charlie lifted him up into her arms.
"Come on, Bitches! I smell pie!" Charlie announced, pushing herself and Gabe out of the room and down the hall for the pie. Cas and Balthazar raced after them, leaving Sam and Dean standing in the bedroom dumbfounded. A smirk quirked across Sammy's face and Dean raised a brow at his little brother.
"Want to share with the class, Sammy?" the older Winchester questioned. Sam waved a hand towards the open doorway, directing Dean's gaze back to where they angels and Charlie had just exited from.
"Nothing…just never thought anybody would call me their dad." Dean felt his heart squeeze, momentarily remembering Jess and the fact that Sammy had planned on getting married and having kids of his own. Dean cleared his throat, forcing the memories towards the back of his mind and focusing more on the fact that he and Sammy are, in a way, dads. Dean felt himself smiling. It was weird to even think about being a dad. Dean and Sam always knew deep down that they would never grow old or get a chance to live their apple pie life, but they were wrong. They were living it now. More or less. They had their family, a home, and much more than what the two hunters ever thought they would get in a life time. Now they were chocking parenthood up to the factor.
"Especially three angels over thousands of years old," Dean added at last, bumping his brother's shoulder with an elbow. Sam laughed and Dean followed quickly after. It was only when Dean's eyes widened when they stopped. Without warning, Dean ran out of the bedroom and back to the kitchen, muttering something about pie devouring angels. Sam only chuckled, following his brother back into the kitchen. The angels were all seated with a plate of the fresh pie. Bobby was already halfway through his and Charlie was cutting pieces for both Sam and Dean. The two Winchesters took a slice, sitting on either side of their three angels. In the meantime, Gabe flicked his fingers back and forth, changing the channels of the TV they could see from their kitchen. Gabriel stopped flicking the channels when he landed on some animal documentary on PBS. Some expert was currently explaining the purpose of the bill on the platypus currently swimming in the water of a river.
"Ugh…Gabby, I can'ts believe Dad let you makes that," Balthazar gagged, staring at the platypus while sticking out his tongue sickly. Gabriel flung a piece of pie at his brother and then nodded at the creature waddling on the screen.
"What you talking about?! I like 'em!" Gabe announced. Dean held up a hand silencing the angels immediately. This was going way too far over his head.
"What?" Dean questioned. Castiel pointed his finger at the TV screen and then towards his brother.
"Gabby was botherings Father so he was given a bunch of parts and Gabby made the…Platerpus," Cas stated.
"Platypus, Cassie," Balthazar corrected. "Dear old Daddy let Gabby keep it, but had him store it in Australia with Gabe's other creations." Dean thought about asking what the other creations were, but he decided it was better he didn't know. Instead, he asked what the angels wanted to do today for the special day. The angels all shared a look and Gabriel's fingers snapped together. The TV screen flickered to a different station.
"Marvel!" the angels squealed. A proud smile fell over Charlie's face. The angels were becoming bigger geeks than Charlie by the day. First it was Doctor Who, then Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Walking Dead, and now they have moved on to the heart of geekdom. A few days ago Charlie introduced the angels to Marvel. The goddess of geeks practically raided the comic store that just so happened to be a block down the street and right next to the movie rental where she purchased every Marvel movie she could get her hands on. The angels were hooked on the Avengers instantly. Gabe loved Loki, Balthazar was a fan of Iron Man, and Cas…well, you could tell just by watching him run around with a cardboard shield in his hand. Kevin joined in on the Marvel marathons too and Dean once or twice came out of his room dressed like batman. Finished off with his plate of food, Dean scooped Castiel up into his arms and rushed for the couch.
"Angels assemble!" he cried. Balthazar and Gabriel squealed with excitement, hopping out of their seats and flying after Dean and Cas. The others quickly finished their pie and followed quickly so they could grab a seat before the angels and Dean hogged the couch.
"What are you going to do when we run out of shows?" Bobby questioned, plopping down on a rocking chair next to the couch. Dean curled up on one side of the couch with Castiel and Gabriel in his arms while Balthazar climbed by Charlie sitting on the opposite end of the couch.
"You can never run out of shows, Bobby," Charlie explained. "Even if we did…we would still have Doctor Who."
"Except during hiatus!" Sam jumped in while putting the Thor Into The Dark World DVD into the player. Charlie shushed him, reminding him that she and the angels were still emotionally damaged from the 11th Doctor's regeneration. Sam shushed her back when the movie began, laying down on the soft carpet since all the seats had been taken. Cas cuddled closer to Dean, pressing a kiss to the hunter's cheek. Dean smiled down at the angel and Dean stroked Cas's soft feathers with one hand, while the other tickled Gabriel's feet. The archangel attempted pushing the hunter off, but Charlie joined in and helped hold Gabe still. Bobby watched in the corner of his eye, taking in the little family he had gained. For a man that never wanted kids he had somehow gotten himself two sons and eventually two add-ons. Now his two sons had adopted their own kids. All those years ago he thought it would be impossible for the boys, but look at them now. Bobby's smile widened. He couldn't have wished for a better family.
darkeyesgirl, I couldn't only do Mother's Day now could I? Thank you The Lady Geek for the Marvel request! I know it's not Father's Day, but I loved this and had to post it right away. It's not like I really have a timeline for this fic anyway. Things just seem to happen randomly.
