The Whiskey Thieves Part 2
"Call me a tattletale or just a guy that likes to watch a good shout, but I wonder what the mama bears are going to think of this?"
Not even an hour after Crowley's appearance, Kevin and Charlie were woken up by shouting. When the two crawled out of their bedrooms, meeting each other in the hall they peaked their heads into the living room. In a chair next to the television sat Crowley and a glass of whiskey. The one doing the shouting was Sam, but it wasn't Crowley he was upset at. Bobby, Balthazar, and Custos were at the center of his attention at the moment. Kevin and Charlie walked into the room, stepping next to Dean- who was currently trying to master the cross parent look. In his arms were Castiel and Gabriel. Gabriel was sharing his ice cream with Cas as they watched their brother and uncle get yelled at.
"Um…what happened here?" Kevin whispered into Dean's ear. The hunter shrugged, nodding at the whiskey Crowley was sipping at.
"Those three stole booze from Crowley's personal supply while we were gone," Dean shouted over Sam's yelling so he could be heard. Charlie and Kevin both raised their brows at him and Dean once again shrugged. "Hey, it wasn't that bad of an idea," Dean said behind a smirk.
"…could've gotten hurt! Right, Dean?" Sam shouted over his shoulder, looking pissed off beyond any normal protective parent. Dean straitened, looking sternly in Bobby and Balthazar's direction.
'Huh? Yeah, what you said, Sammy!" Dean shouted, still failing at the scary parent look. Sam turned back around and started shouting some more. Dean let out the breath he had been holding and watched his little brother with wide eyes. "Sammy needs a day off," he said, watching the tense muscles under Sam's shirt. Gabe frowned.
"He had a day off! We went for ice cream," Gabe informed the hunter while Cas shoved the entire ice cream cone Gabe had been sharing into his cheeks like a little trench coated chipmunk. Dean whipped some of the ice cream from Cas' cheeks with a brush of his thumb.
"I heard it was far more exciting than just that," Dean stated. Gabe shrugged innocently.
"Not my fault the ice cream stand blew up," Gabe informed the hunter. Dean rolled his eyes at the archangel. Yeah, course it wasn't.
"Dean, are you listening?!" Dean turned his attention back to his brother, flinching when he realized that he was now the one in trouble. Sam glared at his brother, turning his back at his last victims and turning on Dean. Jeez, Sammy needed a chill pill and a nap. "Dean, this is serious! Five year olds shouldn't drink or steal!" Sam yelled, face turning red as a tomato. Dean licked his lips and took a few steps back from the angry grizzly bear currently glaring daggers into him. What did Sam want him to say? It was Crowley they had stolen from. That wasn't all bad was it? It sounded more like a triumph. Sam looked into his brother's eyes, anger slipping away and being replaced to one of worry.
"What if Custos had been followed by a demon other than Crowley?" the younger Winchester questioned. Both Gabe and Cas flinched in Dean's arms and the unworried look in Dean's gaze shattered. The guilt, fear, anger, and self-hatred swam to the surface and broke through. His eyes scanned over Balthazar, Bobby, and the hellhound puppy currently hiding behind Bobby's legs. He hadn't gotten over that night that seemed hundreds of years ago. He never would. Some nights the screams returned with the scent of fresh blood and death. Dean opened his mouth to speak, shaking slightly, but a soft squeeze on his arm stopped him. He shut his mouth and looked down to see Cas and Gabriel currently hugging one of the arms holding them. They were looking up at him with small smiles and forgiving eyes. Dean let out a small sigh, looking over the two and then Balthazar. But then Dean remembered that the angels were okay. They were safe and there was no way in a hell a demon was going to lay a finger on any of them again. Not when Dean Winchester had them in his sights. "Dean?" Sam questioned, bringing his brother back. Dean shook himself and looked in the three culprits standing in the corner.
"It's in the past," Dean decided, earning a glare from his brother. "No one got hurt, Sammy. Anyway, I'm sure they would never think of doing something like this again, right?" Dean stated, glaring at the culprits with a look that could scare hellhounds. In fact, it did.
"Yep!" Balthazar shouted, jumping out of Bobby's hold and gliding into Dean's arms next to his brothers. "We'll be good. Scouts honor!" Balthazar stated, crossing his heart and smiling widely. Dean rose a brow at the angel, pointing out that Balthazar was no scout. "I'm over a thousand years old. How do you know?" Balthazar questioned. Dean bobbed his head side to side in consideration.
"Touché, Angel," he finally decided. "Now, I think you and Bobby better serve us our bacon before it burns," the hunter stated, smelling the faint sent of burning bacon. Bobby and Balthazar both looked to the kitchen currently billowing out smoke and dashed to save their lunch. Dean, Gabriel, and Cas laughed as they watched the two go. Custos ran after the two as well, hoping to be given the burnt bacon. Sam let out a long sigh before plopping down on the couch.
"Parenting is way too much work," he moaned, burrowing his head into a pillow. Gabe popped out of Dean's hold and jumped on top of Sam's back. Sam grumbled as the angel crawled up onto his shoulders and played with the brown strands of hair.
"Yeah, but it does have its perks," Dean smirked, swinging an arm out at Crowley and yanking the glass of whiskey from the king of hell. Crowley stared daggers at the Winchester and Sam gladly took a sip of the whiskey. Crowley smiled then, watching as Dean's face fell.
"Apple juice?" Dean murmured, frowning at the drink in his hand.
"You can't steal from the king of thieves," Crowley stated before clicking his fingers and disappearing from sight. Dean scowled at the apple juice, handing it to Charlie to drink before going into the smoke infested kitchen.
"Custos, here boy! We've got a hoard of liquor that needs thieving!"
I'm a sucker for puppy eyes so here's part two thanks to The Mysterious Shadow's review. Enjoy guys!
