Cabin Sweet Cabin

Dean stretched as he, Sam, Bobby and their angels finally parked the impala to rest after finally making it to some little town in Wisconsin. They weren't on a hunt or anything of late. They were just taking a little road trip to clear their heads. Dean opened the back door of the Impala, quickly being tackled by all three angels. He chuckled carrying them towards the little cottage they had decided to stay at until they moved on again. Usually they stayed in old motels, but this little cottage was for rent at the moment and the old woman living next door that owned it said that if they helped her fix the pipes in it she'd let them stay for a few days. When they made it past the white painted gate the angels bounded out of Dean's hold and ran around the garden, sniffing the vibrant flowers and rolling in the green grass.

"Glad to see you boys are enjoying yourselves!" an old woman with long white hair called from over her side of the fence. The angels looked up at her, waving politely and Dean looked up from watching them play and smiled widely at her.

"Thanks for letting us stay here, Mrs. Wellington," Dean said, walking over to the fence and shaking her hand while Sam sat down on the porch and Bobby went into the house to get started on the pipes.

"Oh, it's no problem. It's been such a long while since anyone lived in that house. I'm just glad you brought your boys along." Neither Dean nor Sam attempted to correct her that the angels were not theirs. They had given up on that a long time ago and just let people think whatever. Personally, they didn't really care what everyone thought. "Anyway, have fun exploring the place!" she shouted before walking back her house. Dean turned back around, following Sam into the house, but leaving the door open for the angels since they were still playing.

"Alright, Bobby!" Dean shouted on entering the room. "What's the diagnosis?" Dean rolled his sleeves up above his elbows as he walked into the kitchen with Sam. It was a pleasant little kitchen. It was small, but not too bad and everything looked well cared for. Minus the currently busted sink. Bobby stuck his head out from under the sink, running a hand over his face.

"The pipes are pretty rusted up. It'll take a while to fix this one, Boys," Bobby sighed. "I've got this if you two idjits want to look up some more lore on witches." Dean moaned, glancing at the clock. Research was the last thing he wanted to do at only twelve in the afternoon.

"Can't catch me!" Castiel shouted, running through the doorway with Balthazar and Gabriel as Custos chased after them. The hellhound puppy had grown a lot since they first got him. He had grown so much that it got harder and harder for them to bring the pup around with them. Still, they always made room for the beloved pup. The hound's tail smacked against a coffee table, knocking a vase slightly and sending it crashing to the floor. Dean flinched at the loud noise and Sam glared into the living room where the kids were currently playing.

"Or I could do the research and you could keep them from destroying the house," Sam stated, eyeing his brother in the corner of his eye as he watched Custos jump over a couch in attempt to catch Gabriel as he tried to fly around. Playing tag with hellhounds was a disaster waiting to happen. Dean smiled. Playing with the angels and Custos sounded 100% better than stupid research. After wishing Sam good luck on his research Dean entered the living room and caught all three angels as they attempted to run under his legs. What he wasn't prepared for was Custos running right at him. Dean gasped as the hound jumped up, throwing Dean onto his back against the floor. The angels flew up into the air, using their wings to help glide to safety. Dean groaned, glaring up at the puppy currently licking at his face.

"Don't you four ever play games that don't end with me getting tackled?" dean questioned, pushing the dog off of him. Gabriel held back a snort.

"Well, what else are we supposed to do?" the older angel questioned, holding back a snort. Dean glanced around the living room and then to a hallway leading to more rooms and a flight of stairs for the second floor. He smirked slightly.

"How about we explore the cabin? Maybe we'll find secret hideouts," Dean chuckled. The angels' faces brightened at the thought, running towards the hallway that held rooms they had yet to discover. Dean patted himself on the back. He was a genius.

The team found themselves tons of fun hiding places on their adventure in exploring their temporary home. In almost every room there was a tiny nook or cranny that was perfect for a small child or angel to crawl into. At the end of the day though the yard was the best part of the cabin. Having a cookout under the stars seemed like a perfect way to sum up their first night at the shack. Everybody was in the yard that night, having the time of their lives. Dean flipped a few burgers with Bobby while Sam and the angels walked around in the tall grass in search of fireflies. Mrs. Wellington was there too, but Gabe had hid her glasses so she couldn't really see the fluffy wings currently protruding from the backs of the angels. She just thought the boys were wearing coats. Sam had given the angel a scolding, but Dean had jumped in and directed his brother's thoughts elsewhere.

"Dwean! Dwean!" Castiel called excitedly, running over to the hunter.

"Bobby, did you hear something?" Dean teased. Cas let out a dramatic sigh that made even Bobby cackle. The little angel held up his cupped hands, eyes twinkling.

"I got a blinky bug!" the angel announced. Dean handed off the grill to Bobby and kneeled onto the grass by the angel, forgetting about their little name game. Carefully, Dean cupped Cas' hands with his own and together they looked inside the walls of their palms at the firefly blinking a bright golden yellow. Dean's smile grew.

"Nice catch, Cas!" Dean encouraged, brightly. Cas beamed, but his smile faded when with the flutter of wings the firefly escaped their hold. Dean watched it fly away, smiling a little until he noticed Cas' trembling lip.

"It got away," Cas whimpered, looking absolutely crushed.

"Oh, Cas, don't worry. We'll just have to catch him again." Dean got up from the grass and threw Cas over his shoulder. "Just you and me, right?" Dean asked, hoping to return the smile to Cas' face. His hopes came true. Cas' smile was back in place and the angel was looking eagerly over the field of fireflies blinking all around them.

So, I just finished reading Twist and Shout for the first time and wanted to jump off a cliff, but instead I tried to recover by writing something cute and happy. Lucky for you guys that means you get a new chapter! Thanks for all the firefly requests!
