Night at the Museum
The credits rolled on the television and Gabe waved a hand, turning the TV off. The angels let out tired sighs, looking around to see that everyone else in the house had fallen asleep watching the movie.
"I wish Museums were actually like that," Balthazar sighed, playing with the zipper on his pajamas. Cas let out a long yawn and crawled over to the television, grabbing the jacket for the DVD they had just finished watching. Night at the Museum was written in bold letters on the cover.
"We could," Cas offered, turning his gaze to his brothers. "You could use your graces." Balthazar shook his head.
"Nah, we don't have any cool museums around, Cassie," Balthazar pointed out.
"Yes we do," Gabe stated suddenly. "Sam and I passed one on the way home. It's a wax museum." Balthazar stuck his tongue out, shaking his head.
"I said cool museums, Gabby," Balthazar grumbled, rolling his eyes and taking the DVD jacket from Cas. "Although, we could make it cool." Gabriel and Cas' eyes brightened and Balthazar glanced at his older brother. "How long would it take us to fly there?" Gabe paused for a moment and then smiled.
"Half an hour if we don't stop," Gabe decided. Cas' face instantly fell and his eyes skimmed over his blackened wings still covered in down. Gabe laughed, scooping Cas up and over his shoulders. "Awe, don't worry, Cassie, I'll carry you if you get too tired," Gabe reassured the smaller angel. Cas thanked him and Balthazar led the way to the front door, using his grace to turn the lock. Gabe beamed. "Awesome, Balthy!" Balthazar blushed a deep red and held the door open for his brothers. Once they were outside Cas jumped off of Gabriel's back and into the air, wings flapping hard to hold him up.
"Let's go!" the angel cheered and the other two flew after him.
The wax museum was closed off course when they got there. Gabe used his grace to open the door and the three went in only to be surrounded by thousands of wax figures. The angels shivered, slightly freaked out by how life like they really were.
"Look!" Cas shouted in a hushed voice, pointing at a man dressed in uniform sitting on top of a horse. "It's Teddy!" Teddy Roosevelt was Cas' favorite character in the movie and both Balthazar and Gabriel knew that if they didn't bring him to life first Cas was going to give them and earful. Waving his hand over the statue, Gabriel let out a bit of grace. The angels waited, watching as Teddy slowly blinked his eyes. The former president's eyes eventually trailed down to the three angels and he let out a surprised huff.
"Oh, hello there," Teddy sputtered, smiling down at the angels from his horse. Cas let out a loud squeal and flew upwards, letting Teddy catch him when the man reached out. Teddy looked the little angel over, eyes still wide as he took in the black wings poking out of Cas' back. "Who are you three?" Teddy questioned.
"I'm Castiel," Cas introduced himself. "They are my brothers Gabriel and Balthazar." The other two angels waved at the now living wax figure. Teddy greeted them kindly and then swung himself and Cas off his still wax horse. He asked what the three were up to and Gabriel quickly explained their plan. When everyone understood Gabriel glanced around himself at the others wax figures. There were Native Americans, characters from movies, a triceratops. It might not have been a T-rex, but Balthazar wasn't going to complain. With a blast of grace from Gabriel and a little pinch of it from Balthazar the entire museum was alive. Wax figures pushed past their glass prisons and roamed around the museum, some chasing after each other and others simply gabbing back and forth. Balthazar's eyes brightened at the sight of the triceratops coming their way and he ran for the beast, jumping onto her back with a little help from his wings. Gabriel got distracted as well, eyes falling on the Space Center area of the museum. When they disappeared Teddy looked down at the angel in his arms.
"So where should we go first, Castiel?" Teddy questioned. Cas thought for a moment, looking around until his eyes fell on sign for the art exhibit.
"That way!" Cas shouted, pointing towards the sign. Teddy happily complied, telling Cas a number of his stories as he escorted the angel. The art exhibit was amazing. It was almost exactly how it had been in the movie. In fact, it was better. The pictures moved just like the paintings and photographs were actually videotaped. Cas jumped out of Teddy's arms and ran to Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night painting. He dipped his hand into the painting, watching as the night sky poured out of the painting and wrapped around his hand until it finally made its way to the ceiling, leaving a dazzling night sky in place of the ugly white ceiling. Cas fell onto his back as he stared up at the freshly painted stars and Teddy joined him. "Any stories about the stars?" Cas asked him, turning his head a little to look at the former president. Teddy nodded, a smile on his face.
"One or two, my dear boy," he claimed with a grin.
Gabriel shot past Balthazar in his rocket. The two of them were having a little race. Rocket vs Triceratops. Gabe cheered as he passed their homemade finish line of stacked up books and tapestries. Balthazar called out for a rematch, throwing an old fez at his brother's head only for it to completely miss and fly towards the doorway.
"Oof!" a voice growled. Balthazar and Gabriel both froze at the sound and they glanced at the doorway to see Sam, Dean, and Bobby glaring at them. In Sam's hands was the fez Balthy had just throne.
"Hey, guys," Balthy shouted nervously. The hunters walked farther into the museum, looking around the place, but not looking particularly surprised. They shouldn't be. It's not the first time the angels tried to make a movie or TV show come to life.
"I freaking hate wax museums," Dean grumbled, glaring at the wax figures walking around them.
"How'd you know where to find us?" Gabe asked curiously. Booby pulled a crumpled piece of paper from his pocket and tossed it to the angel, watching as Gabriel held it out for Balthazar to read also.
Dear Dean,
We're going to go to the wax museum for a little bit. Don't worry about us. We aren't doing anything con…conspicy…consippious …CONSPICIOUS!
-Cas
Balthazar held back to the urge to face palm. How did Cas write a letter without them noticing? Actually a better question was; where was the angel? Balthazar and Gabriel looked around themselves, suddenly panicked. The hunters currently glaring at them glanced around too before rushing around the museum in search of the smaller angel. Gabe and Balthazar stayed close, using their grace's to search for the younger angel until they were drawn to the art exhibit. They were all about to pile in when Bobby stopped them with a raised hand. The group peaked over the hunter seeing Cas and Teddy Roosevelt starring at a painting of a little girl by a river. The water from the river was spilling out of the painting and along with the water came several baby ducks. Cas and Teddy would catch them before they fell and set them gently in the puddle of painted water now on the floor. The little ducks chirped at the two and nuzzled against their feet. Bobby closed the door of the art exhibit and turned to the group behind them. Why don't we go check out the rest of the exhibits around here and have some fun," the old man suggested. Everyone's eyes brightened at the idea.
"We've got till midnight right?" Dean chuckled, wrapping his arm around Sammy and pulling him away. "Lets go check out the western exhibit!"
"I thought you hated wax museums?" Sam grumbled as his brother yanked him away. Dean muttered a loud shut up and Bobby looked away from the two goons to the angels by his feet.
"What you two want to look at?" he asked. Balthy and Gabriel grinned, pointing towards the mummy exhibit. Bobby let out a heavy sigh and took the angels' hands.
"Of course you two wouldn't want to play with something cute," Bobby grumbled, bracing himself the horror show about to unfold.
Thank you Kjboulware for the request. Also thank you to Robin william's Teddy Roosevelt for taking care of Cassie. You will be forever loved.
