Angel Shows
It was a brilliantly vibrant day in California with a shining sun and sparkling beaches. Everybody longed to run out into the pleasant waves and let the fresh sea water lap at their skin, but they were nowhere close to the beautiful waters. Instead the Winchester family stood in line for the dolphin show at Sea World, feet aching and stomachs rumbling. Honestly, why were these lines so long? The angels ran around the legs of various strangers, playing tag in the confined space in attempt to not to die of boredom. They had gone through patty cake, and peekaboo already. What they were going to do once they became bored of tag nobody knew. The others in the meantime chatted with the strangers around them that were also waiting in line, trying their best to ignore the crazy angels. It was working perfectly until someone tugged on Dean's pants leg. The hunter glanced down to see that it was both Cas and Balthazar. Their faces were etched with worry.
"Dwean, Gabby's gone!" Cas stated with big blue eyes staring worriedly at the hunter. Dean frowned, glancing around the area and not finding a single trace of the trickster.
"He was just here," the hunter muttered, gritting his teeth. The two angels jabbered their agreements and fiddled nervously with their fingers.
"We were playing hide and go seek and he disappeared!" Balthazar stated. Sam was right. They should have banned the angels from playing that game a long time ago. With a sigh Dean told the others to save him a seat and started on his way out of the line. The sound of frantic little feet came up behind him and Dean turned to see that he was being followed by Balthazar and Castiel.
"Oh, no you don't," Dean snapped at the two. "I don't need to lose you two too." The angels' lips stuck out in a pout and they lifted their hands up to him.
"Pwease!" they whined extra loudly. Dean let out an irritated moan, but he lifted them both up and carried them away from the line and towards the main aquariums. As they walked several fish followed them through the glass tanks. It wasn't the first time, but Dean would never get used to it and neither would the strangers around him. He sent a glare towards anybody that gawked at them and usually the strangers would quickly turn away. "Dwean, look at that one!" the angels would squeal every ten seconds as they walked around the park. Pretty soon Dean got sick of the angels struggling in his arms in order to get a closer look at the fish and set them back down on the floor, making them walk. He still held onto their hands (even if he had to bend a little to reach their short little arms). Dean ushered the angels farther into the park, yanking the angels along when they tried to stop to look at the penguins. They were supposed to be looking for a bird (sort of), but not that kind of bird. Dean yanked again, but this time Cas' hand slipped from his grip and the angel quickly disappeared. Dean yelled out for the angel, picking Balthazar back up and racing after the angel. Several screams came from one of the exhibitions and Dean watched as Castiel jumped over one of the gates with a fluffy baby penguin in his arms. Dean let out a frustrated sigh, trying his best to ignore the happy little smile Cas was currently giving him as he ran towards the hunter with the penguin.
"Why me, God?" Dean muttered.
"Careful. He just might answer," Balthazar snickered. Dean glared down at the angel, setting him back on the ground by his feet and sighing heavily.
"How do I do this?" he asked. Balthazar shrugged, watching as his little brother came closer. Dean ran a hand over his face. "Thanks for the help," he muttered just before Cas finally made his way to them with the cuddly little penguin.
"Dwean! Dwean! Lookie!" Cas squealed excitedly. "Can we keeps him?" Dean felt his voice catch in his throat as Cas turned his big blue eyes onto his green ones. That angel really had mastered the art of puppy eyes. Swallowing slowly, Dean quickly came up with something to say to the small angel.
"I wish we could, Cas," Dean stated slowly, keeping eye contact with the little angel. "But I'm sure he has a family of his own and he'd be really sad if he left them behind." Dean let out a silent prayer. Cas' eyes slowly made their way down to the baby penguin and then back to the penguin pen. Several penguins were watching them over the fence. A sad smile fell onto Castiel's face.
"I didn't think of that," Cas murmured, hugging the penguin a little. "Come on, Pengy, let's take you back to your family." Dean let out a sigh of relief as Cas rushed back over to the fence and gently set the baby penguin next to its parents before hopping back out again and running into Dean's arms. Dean hugged the little angel, pulling away only when Balthazar tugged on his sleeve. He looked up at the older angel and Balthazar pointed towards the penguin pen where two attendants were now standing, searching for whoever had grabbed the penguin. Dean licked his lips, quickly pulling away from Cas and taking both angels' hands and bolting as far away from the penguin exhibit as possible.
"He's probably back with Sam and the others," Dean reassured as he walked into the show arena for the dolphin show. After walking around the park in search of the angel for almost a half an hour the still had failed finding him. Cas and Balthy nodded in Dean's arms. Their little feet had gotten tired after walking so long so now Dean was forced to carry them. Dean looked through the crowed, spotting their group right away. They were sitting in the Splash Zone of all places. That had to be Charlie's idea. Dean carried the angels over to their seats, frowning when he didn't see Gabriel. "He didn't come back?" Dean questioned, silently hoping that Gabe had returned and was just in the bathroom or something. Sammy shook his head and reached out to take Cas and Balthazar from his brother.
"We haven't seen him anywhere. Where could he be, Dean?" Sam questioned, setting the angels on his lap. Dean took a seat next to his brother and Bobby.
"I don't know, Sam. He knows where we are though so maybe he'll find his way back?" Dean suggested, trying to sound hopeful. In reality he was panicking. Gabe was all by himself and most likely lost. What if someone had grabbed him? It wouldn't be the first time after all. A speaker popped above them and the group jumped from their worried thoughts to see a man and woman riding out on beautiful dolphins.
"Ladies and gentlemen give it up for Misty and Mikey!" the speaker screeched. People cheered from their seats and the dolphin's trainers got off their dolphins, instructing them something before climbing onto a platform. The dolphins swam away from their instructors and leapt into their air gracefully. The crowd screeched with cheers and the dolphins disappeared behind a wall. After a second or two the dolphins returned, but something was sitting on one of their backs. Dean squinted at the object, eyes widening when he recognized the golden hair and eyes.
"Gabriel!" he shouted. The angel on the dolphins grinned at his family, giving them a quick wink before disappearing underwater with the dolphins. Gabriel popped back up with the dolphins, holding onto their fins as they somersaulted through the air. When they hit the water, a wave of water was pushed up over the tank and Gabriel rode it straight at his family's seats. They squealed, making to run for it, but the water hit them and Gabriel landed in Dean's arms. The angel looked up at the hunter with a cheeky grin.
"We should play hide and go seek more often."
Thank you SwissPie for the request!
