Little Bros Hiding in the Nest

Sam sat in the living room with Cas in his lap. He and the angel were playing a quiet game of patty cake while they waited for the commercials to end and their show to come back on. It was just them today. Dean and Bobby were working on the TV antenna on the roof and the others had all gone to the neighbors for a short visit.

"It's on!" Cas announced, eyes snapping back to the screen. Sam put his hands down and allowed his eyes to return to the television. They were watching a PBS documentary on Honey Badgers vs Bees. Cas grabbed his bee pillow that had fallen from Sam's lap and clutched it tight to himself as a hive full of bees came onto the screen. Sam was surprised that Cas kept Lucifer's gift. He wondered if Cas kept it in hope that everything about Lucifer was a lie.

Sam and Cas watched as a swarm of bee's chased at the fearless badger, gasping in anger when their screen turned black. Cas and Sam both shared a look and they dashed to the window, sticking their heads out and glancing upwards. Dean was sitting on the edge of the roof, tangled in wires. Bobby stood behind him, trying to free the hunter from his trap. Sam let out a long sigh and pulled his head back out from the window, looking to Cas.

"Well, now what do we do?" Sam asked. Cas tapped at his chin for a moment before running up the stairs towards the bedrooms.

"Hide and seek!" Cas squealed before disappearing up the stairs. Sam grinned widely and started counting. He gave Cas an extra second, knowing from experience that Cas probably changed his mind at the last second as was currently trying to find a new spot. When ready Sam made his way up the steps, eyes searching everywhere for the little angel. He looked in the bathroom, only finding toothpaste smeared on the mirror for some odd reason. Sam chose to ignore it for the moment. He didn't feel like interrupting their game for cleaning. Ducking out of the bathroom, Dean made his way down the hall, peaking into Charlie's room when he noticed the door was left open. Her room was covered in posters and action figures Sam didn't recognize. A few clothes were thrown on the bed and over the lamp, but other than that it was pretty tidy. Sam's eyes snaked over the room, but he didn't spot anything that gave away Castiel's hiding spot. Deciding that Castiel had not retreated into Charlie's bedroom to hide, Sam continued down the hall, stopping at Kevin's room next. The room was a cluttered mess and Sam had the feeling cups of coffee on the desk by the window really should be taken to be cleaned. Several notes were sprawled along the desk along with a laptop and fat books. A photo of Kevin and his mother was also on the desk. Sam made a mental note to have Mrs. Tran stop by for a visit soon. Kevin would be sure to like that. The kid deserved it after all. He works too hard. Sam walked around the room, lifting up covers and calling out for the angel he was hunting, but he was met with silence. Sam let out a huff and turned his back on Kevin's room. This time Sam walked down to Dean's room. Should have started there. It's the number one place you go to when looking for the smallest angel of the lord. Sam pushed Dean's door open and smiled as he took it in. It was a room that Dean had always talked about having one day. Clothes were folded neatly in their drawers and a few coats were hung up in the closet. The room (from what Sam could see) was free of any weapons. The bed was neatly made. A blue baby blanket the angels always carry around was folded on a pillow. It was completely normal. In other words; nothing what one would expect to find in a Winchester's room? Sam slowly kneeled down and looked under the bed, eyes lighting up when he noticed a few feathers. Sam reached under the bed, eyes widening when his hand came back with several black, silver, and gold feathers. Sam glanced under the bed again only to see that it wasn't Cas he had been reaching for. Instead it was just a handful of feathers that must have fallen out while the angels slept. The younger Winchester scooped up the feathers, setting them on the nightstand for Dean to lock away later. They always locked the angels' fallen feathers away. There's no telling what can be done with just one. Sam got back up onto his feet and scowled at the room. Looks like Cas wasn't here either. Letting out a puff of air, Sam strolled out of his brother's room and glanced in his own. His was neat like his brother's, but it wasn't free of weapons. There was a gun sticking out from under the pillow and a knife on the nightstand. Dean felt safe here just like the others, but Sam didn't. He didn't feel safe anywhere. There was no telling when a demon or monster would crawl into their home. At least Sam would be ready.

"Oh, Cas!" Sam called out into the room. He was met with silence. Sam let out a huff. Where could Cas be hiding. It couldn't be Bobby's room. The hunter stays in his office downstairs, sleeping on the comfy couch pushed against the room's wall farthest from the window. He learned his lesson of sleeping by windows when one of the angels had a nightmare and shattered almost every window in the house. Well, maybe Cas was hiding under the couch? Sam turned on his heels, about to close the door to his room when a faint giggle forced his to stop in his tracks. The hunter turned on his heels once again, looking around the room with a raised brow. "Cas?" Sam called into the room. There was another giggle. Sam followed the sound to the window and Sam grabbed the curtains. Cas must be hovering outside the window. "Gotcha!" Sam shouted, flinging open the curtains.

"Hey, Sammy," Dean grumbled. Sam jumped back in both shock and surprise at the sight of his brother hanging upside down by the window, wrapped in cords. Sam glanced out the window and looked up to see Bobby struggling to pull Dean back up onto the roof by the many cords currently wrapped around Dean's legs. "Having a little trouble with the new antenna," Dean muttered, crossing his arms and sighing heavily. Sam just continued to stare at his brother, one brow raised. Dean stared back, only breaking contact when a laugh burst from his lips. Sam continued to stare at his brother like he was crazy and watched as Dean started to unzip his sweatshirt. "Damn it, Cas, I can't take it anymore!" Dean shouted, unzipping the sweatshirt completely to reveal a ruffled Castiel. The angel was giggling up a storm, brushing his wings purposely against Dean's sides. Dean let out another hearty laugh and tossed the angel back into Sam's arms. "Last time I help you hide," Dean huffed, trying to catch his breath from laughing so hard. Cas stuck his tongue out at the hunter and then buried his face in Sam's shirt as he continued to giggle. Sam smirked down at the angel and then back at his brother. He reached out, closing the curtains on his brother, earning a loud, 'HEY!'. Sam walked out of the room, walking back downstairs to the couch. Cas had pulled his face from Sam's shirt by then and was grinning back up at Sam. They sat down on the couch and Sam poked the little angel.

"Your turn," he stated. Cas grinned, quickly closing his eyes and then covering them with his tiny hands for extra measure. He started to count then, words slurring together slightly. Slowly, Sam snuck off the couch and ran back to his room. He wondered if Dean would be able to hold him up too.

Just a cute Sam and Cas moment. Homecoming week is almost over for me at last. Damn thing took up way too much of my writing time. Just got to play pep band later tonight and I am done with all the school spirit stuff. THANK CHUCK!
