The Wee Goddess

Dean and Sam sat silently in their motel room, watching as the little girl swallowed down an entire box of take-out. They had found her on a hunt that afternoon. She was in some old warehouse surrounded by the bodies of strange creatures. The two knew she wasn't human, but they couldn't bring themselves to hurt the little girl. That's all she was after all; a little girl. When they tried to ask her what she and the others were the little girl looked at them with big confused eyes and ask what they meant. She had no idea of what she truly was. She was too young. That was why they were taking her home with them so Bobby could take a look at her himself.

"Come on, Pipes!" Dean shouted, lifting the little girl into his arms (at least she was able to give them her name). She squealed, smiling at him with big brown eyes and Dean smiled back, walking her towards the door as Sam held it open for him.

Three women were slumped in crumpled heaps around the warehouse. Dean and Sam looked at them carefully, staying as far back as possible. At first they had thought the women were angels because of the large wings stretching out of their backs, but no angels they ever saw had poisonous snakes braded into their hair and wound around their arms and waists. They were dressed in black clothing with hunting boots too, nothing like the typical suits most angels wear. They didn't have any angel blade's either. Their only weapons were dangerous looking whips. Dean and Sam walked further into the warehouse, stopping when they heard muffled crying. They slowly approached the sound, freezing when they came face to face with a little girl of maybe four or five. She was surrounded by hissing snakes and all she wore was a too big black dress. Darkly colored wings stretched out from between her shoulder blades, but the inky colored feathers were nothing like angel wings. It was like a cross between batwings and the typical wings one would see on crows. Whatever she was though, she was scared and needed their help. Dean and Sam attempted to reach the girl, but the snakes hissed at them, threatening to bite. The little girl looked at them, tears in her eyes as she shook with fear. Both Winchester's felt their hearts melt and they lowered their guns. Dean held his arms open to her, a small smile on his face.

"It's okay. We'll take care of you."

The Winchesters pulled up into their driveway and got out of the car, Piper still in Sam's arms. Dean opened the front door, instantly tackled by three baby angels and a hellhound puppy.

"Dwean!" they angels squealed, hugging him tight. Dean laughed, hugging the angels tight and scratching Custos' ears. The angels then jumped off of him and hugged Sam's feet, not even noticing the little girl in his arms. Dean smiled at the angels and then reached out for Piper, setting her down on the floor next to the angels. The angels and Custos grew quiet then, staring at the little girl. Dean and Sam held their breath, waiting for some reaction. Custos was the first to make a move. The puppy bounded over to her, licking her face and making Piper squeal. The angels smiled then, walking over to her and introducing themselves. Dean and Sam's shoulders sagged with relief and the turned away from the group of children, heading to Bobby's study. The room looked almost exactly like Bobby's old place did. There was a couch by the wall and books and tapestries covered every inch of the room. Bobby was sat at a desk, flicking through a book on witch spells.

"Hey, Bobby, we're back," Sam called into the room. Bobby set his book down and grinned at the boys, face falling when he saw Piper walk into the room with the angels and Custos. He sat up in his chair, looking at her with wide eyes.

"Where in the world did you boys find an Erinyes?!" Bobby gasped. Sam's eyes widened.

"You mean a furry?" he questioned. Bobby nodded and grabbed a book from the floor, opening it up to reveal three hideous women draped in black with dark wings and snakes crawling over their bodies.

"They are these creatures or goddesses that avenge crimes against the natural order," Bobby explained. "If you're a victim of some crime all you have to do is call down one of these and they'll curse whoever did the crime. They supposedly worked for Hades in the Underworld."

"Where did Piper come from though?" Sam questioned, looking to the little girl that was following the angels around the room. Bobby shook his head.

"My best guess is that when those three were killed she was born. Mother nature's got to keep things in order you know," Bobby sighed. "What killed them anyway?" Dean shook his head.

"Have no clue. We just found them like that," Dean explained. Bobby's face creased into a frown. None of them liked the sound of that.

"Dwean?" Dean glanced down in surprise that it wasn't Cas this time that had mispronounced his name. Instead it was Piper. She smiled at him widely and pointe at the angels and Custos. "Can I go play?" she asked. Dean nodded, figuring a new little friend would do the angels and Piper some good. The little girl squealed happily and ran out the door with the angels. Dean sighed and looked back to Bobby and his brother.

"What do we do about her?"

Piper sat on the dock with the angels watching as they flew over the water, catching butterflies and racing dragonflies. Cas ran up to Piper and held out his clasped hands to her. His wings wrapped around the both of them, Pipers wings helping too. When they were completely surrounded by feathers Cas unclasped his hands. Two swallowtail butterflies flew out from his hands and flew around their heads. Piper gasped at the sight of the beautiful butterflies, watching as one landed on Cas' nose. Piper giggled.

"It like you," she giggled. Cas smiled and coaxed the butterfly from his nose to his finger. He then held his finger out to Piper's face, coaxing it onto Piper's nose. Piper giggled again and Cas joined her before finally pulling back his wings and allowing the bugs to fly away. Piper watched as Cas' eyes slipped far away as he watched the butterflies slowly disappear into the distance. Piper reached out to him, fingers lightly tapping his shoulders. Light exploded behind her eyes. Images of a man much older than Castiel, but with the same blue eyes and coat stood on a pile of dead. There was a name to each face. Many were angels, but there were humans too. Three humans she recognized. Two were Sam and Dean and the other was Bobby. Piper ripped her hand away from Cas quickly, eyes wide. The little angel frowned at her. He clearly had no idea of what had happened.

"You okay?" he questioned, taking a step forward. Piper stepped back, eyes glowing dimly. "Pipe –"

"What's happening?!" Piper cried. She looked to Balthazar and Gabriel, but saw the horror of their crimes. Piper screamed, covering her face with her hands. Suddenly, arms wrapped around her. Piper looked up, eyes meeting Dean Winchester's green eyes. She froze. New images flashed behind her eyes. Again there were a pile of bodies, but this time Dean stood at the top instead of Cas. Piper's eyes read off the names of the bloodied corpses. Monsters, angels, demons, and humans were everywhere.

"Piper!" Dean snapped his fingers in front of her eyes and she snapped out of the vision. Dean hugged her lightly, rubbing her back gently in attempt to calm her. Piper relaxed a little and let her head fall onto Dean's shoulder as tears slipped past her eyes.

"What's happening to me?" she cried. "Why can I see such horrible things?" Dean hushed her, looking to Sam and Bobby as they rushed over.

"You can see the crimes committed by the people you touch," Sam explained. Piper pulled away from Dean a little.

"You…all those people…" She looked towards Cas, staring into the angels wide eyes. "All those crimes…"

"Everybody commits some sort of crime, kid-o," Bobby explained. "Some worse than others." Cas slowly walked closer to Piper and Dean, crawling up next to the frightened furry.

"It doesn't mean that they're only bad," Cas told her. Piper turned her gaze back and forth between the man who had saved her and the angel that had made her a friend. Piper looked to the others, watching as their crimes were shown to her.

"Punishment…is n…needed for such crimes," she suddenly felt herself saying. She didn't know why she said it. It just pushed past her lips. It felt instinctive to her, but she couldn't understand why. Cas' eyes saddened a little. "We live with our crimes and the aftereffects of our choices every day. Don't you think that's punishment enough?" Balthazar and Gabriel stood off to the side, eyes on their brother the entire time, but nobody seemed to notice their sad/worried expressions. All eyes were on Piper. The little fury thought it over before finally relaxing completely. Piper held out her arms to Cas and the little angel hugged her, giving her a smile. These were her friends. Crimes or no crimes. When they pulled away she looked to Dean with big eyes.

"What happens now?" Dean smiled a little.

"We have a friend called Missouri. She can see things too. We called her and she said that she'd take you in and help you understand your powers," Dean told her. "You can come and visit though, anytime you like," Dean told her with a wide grin. Piper let out a joyous cry and hugged Dean tight around the neck. The hunter laughed, hugging her back tightly.

"Why don't you go back to playing alright? We'll get some things packed up for you," Sam said. Piper nodded, jumping off of Dean and running back over to Cas. She grinned at the angel, giving him a tight hug.

"I'm sorry," she felt herself whisper.

"It's okay," Cas whispered. "You just need help understanding your power." Piper didn't correct him. She wasn't apologizing for her little outburst. She just felt sorry for the angel. She hadn't felt anything when she first touched him. All she had seen was the crime, but now she could feel the sadness the angel felt for his crimes. Piper shook herself and grinned widely at Castiel before dragging him to a patch of flowers where several butterflies were zipping around. She didn't care about the crimes. Thought they frightened her she knew that Cas and the others were good. They took her in and found her home. They could have done other things, but they chose kindness and that was what Piper chose to see instead of the crimes. Piper looked over his shoulder and waved at Cas' brothers, calling them over to play. Balthazar and Gabriel followed, the smiles on their faces hiding their true worries for their little brother. They all had their crimes, but nobody seemed as affected by them as Castiel.
