Heaven's Cutest

Castiel, Balthazar, and Gabriel stood at the edge of the driveway, staring out across the street. The sun was just coming up behind the thick pine trees. The three had woken up at sunrise, something tingling in their veins. It hadn't been 24 hours since God's plan got to work and the angels were already feeling the strong pull of their brothers and sisters. They could feel every grace far and near, but there was one that was closer than most. In fact, it was right across the road. Sucking in a breath the three stepped forward, crossing the black asphalt. They started towards a small house with a fence and old christmas lights hung up around the porch. Together they crawled up the squeaking steps, stopping just in front of the door. Crying could be heard from behind the doorway. Gabriel lifted a fist and smacked it once, twice against the door. The sound of footsteps became apparent on the other side and the crying grew louder. The angels held their breath as the door opened, revealing a tired looking Kieren and a pink faced two year old. On seeing the angels the child stopped crying and held out his arms, incoherent words leaving his lips. A look of relief crossed Kieren's face and he looked at the three kindly.

"He's been crying non stop," Kieren sighed. He stepped to the side. "Come on in." The angels filed in, eyes still on the child. Kieren led them to the living room where Simon was sitting with his head in his hands. He looked up when they entered and forced on a smile.

"Oh, hello. What are you three doing here?" he asked.

"Heard him," Cas said, pointing at the child in Kieren's arms. Kieren set the two year old down on a blanket on the floor and made his way out of the room.

"Ah," Simon hummed, watching the child crawl around. "Amy found him last night on the doorstep. He was just there with a little tag on him." Simon pulled out the tag from his pocket and handed it to Gabriel. The older angel didn't need to read it to know which angel it named.

Samandriel

The two year old in question cooed and reached for Cas, pulling at his brother, tiny brown wings poking out from beneath his baby shirt. Simon paled instantly, watching the three angels with worry, but Balthazar gave him a reassuring smile. Simon relaxed a little, but the confusion on his face was evident.

"You know about baby angels?" he asked, raising a brow. The angels each shared a look before revealing their own grace hidden wings. Simon's mouth dropped. "You-"

"Alfie's our brother," Cas said, pulling off the smaller angel's shirt to let the tiny wings stretch out. They reminded the three of a saw-whet owl's wings. Brown mixed with whites, greys, and blacks. They were simple, but still elegant and regal.

"Why are angels on Earth?" Simon asked, just as Kieren entered with Amy at his side. The angels each shared a look and a long sigh. This was going to take a while.

Cas and Samandriel played on the floor with each other while Gabe and Balthazar both sipped at the tea Kieren had made for them while they told their story. Well, Balthazar sipped. Gabriel just glared at the weird liquid like it had insulted him. Their neighbors had surprisingly taken the story very well after the shock wore off. Amy had even called the angels' home to tell the hunters what was happening. Dean and Sam had said they'd be right over so now they were just waiting.

"CAAAA!" baby Alfie squealed as he plopped on top of Cas' belly and buried his face into the worn trench coat Cas always wore. Cas giggled and tickled his brother, watching as Alfie withered away from the assaulting fingers. Cas had always been the little brother in heaven. Even heaven's cutest was older than him. He remembered once a long time ago when his older brothers would dote on him and freak when even a simple feather would get out of place. Still, being younger didn't hold him back from working up to commander of an entire garrison. That was all dust in the wind now though. Now he was the older brother and Samandriel was now his to dote over. "Banky!" Alfie cried while stuffing his head under one of the flaps of the trench coat. Cas frowned at his brother, tilting his head to the side.

"Actually it's a-"

"BANKY!" Alfie yelped again, wrapping his pudgy little arms around his brother and flapping his wings happily. Cas just stared at the little angel, confusion written all over his face. Balthazar and Gabriel simply laughed.

"There's no persuading a two year old," Gabriel chuckled.

"If it's a blanket it's a blanket. You're argument's invalid," Balthazar joined in, finishing off his tea.

DING!

Alfie mimicked the doorbell, making everyone in the room aww at the little baby. Amy got up from between Kieren and Simon, opening the door to let in Sam and Dean. The hunters gave their three neighbors each a smile before turning their gaze to Alfie on the floor with Cas.

"Well, one down…"

"...a hell of a lot more to go," Dean finished for his brother. Dean reached out to Alfie, going to pick him up. Guess we better get you home, huh, buddy?" Amy, Kieren, and Simon both shared sad glanced with one another.

"Oh...we had hoped he'd be staying with us," Kieren muttered softly. Dean shared a look with Sam.

"Uh...well, if you want to…" Dean began, pausing for a moment. "Raising angels isn't really a piece of cake."

"Oh pretty please?" Amy jumped in, taking Alfie from the floor and rubbing her cheek affectionately against Alfie. "We promise to take care of him!" Dean licked his lips and looked to Sam.

"We could check up on him once and a while," Dean suggested. Sam thought it over a bit and then nodded. Dean grinned and looked to his neighbors.

"Congrats! You're now the happy parents of an angel," Dean said, grin widening. The three cheered and baby Alfie happily clapped his hands together, cooing and kicking his feet like he was trying to jump up and down. Dean glanced to his angels then and waved at them. "We better get home, guys. You can babysit your baby bro again," he promised. All three looked up at Simon, Kieren, and Amy with hopeful gazes and Simon laughed.

"You're welcome here anytime," he told them and the angels beamed brightly, flying up into the air to hug and kiss their little brother.

"See you later Alfie," they whispered. Alfie let out a string of gibberish and waved both his hands as Sam and Dean led the angels back outside.

On entering Bobby's office the gang stared wide eyed at a large map Charlie and Kevin were helping Bobby pin up to the wall.

"What's this?" Dean asked while setting Gabriel and Balthazar down on Bobby's desk while Cas flew out of his hold to get a better look at the map.

"We're putting up pins everyplace that has an angel," Charlie said, helping Kevin push four pins in place. Each pin was a different color and next to the map was a picture of the angel pinned to the wall with an identical pin.

"Figured this would help us keep track of where they all are," Bobby said, plopping down in the chair at his desk. Sam and Dean stared at the partially empty map, envisioning it with thousands of multi colored pins. Dean let out a long whistle and glanced at the angels in the corner of his eye.

"Up for a little scavenger hunt, angels?" The three instantly perked up. Dean fished his keys from his pocket and made for the door. "The one to find the most angels wins."

I had to do an In the Flesh crossover again. Couldn't help it. Simon, Kieren, and Amy taking care of Alfie was just too perfect of an idea. If you haven't watched In the Flesh I highly recommend it. It's amazing.

So, anyway...yes, the angels are going to be younger than the three and God was nice enough to drop them off at designated areas/homes.
