Rebirth of the 'Lost'
Brittany was a veterinarian in a little town in Arizona. She cured the usual house and farm pets people usually had, but she also took care of creatures far stranger. She cared for all supernatural creatures and even hunters of all things. Her eyes had been opened to the world of the Supernatural after she ran into a vampire with a sore tooth. She offered to pull it for the vamp as long as it promised not to harm her. The vampire had been so grateful that he had spread news of the veterinarian. Not long after she found many different creatures on her steps. None, however, had ever been as strange as the one that had shown up on the day the sky turned red.
Brittany had thought the sky was beautiful, but the high pitched sound breaking all her test tube samples she could have done without. When it had finally stopped Brittany made her way to the lobby only to come face to face with a bearded man. He didn't seem like her usuals. Actually, he looked more like some poor guy with black circles under his eyes from staying up at odd hours drinking away his issues. He had an aura though like none she'd ever felt. It was strong and fierce, but also loving. In the man's arms lay a tiny limp figure with colorful wings and blue-grey hair that reminded Brittany of Chinchilla fur.
"Is she…"
"Alive? No...not for some time," the bearded man sighed. Brittany frowned in confusion and the man adjusted the child in his arms gently. "Her brother...Lucifer killed her with a blade, but…" the man chuckled. "...that was what he was told to do to anyone that posed a threat to stopping the mission to get the blood of the three." Brittany frowned at him, thinking that he was mad. "He didn't kill them though. The sword he used wasn't like the usual ones angels carry." Brittany's brows raised. Angels? Well, that was knew. "This sword stores the grace of the angel it cuts into, keeping the angel alive. I didn't want to lose any of my children after all." Children? The man's eyes sparked blue then and the blade hidden in his belt glowed as well. the light sunk into him, traveling up the veins to his neck and then to his face. Brittany watched with widened eyes then as the man leaned over and pressed his lips over the child's, breathing the blue light into her. The baby let out a faint cry when he pulled away and Brittany watched with astonishment as the child came to life right before her eyes. The man smiled and kissed the baby's forehead before gently handing her over to the astonished veterinarian.
"W...what's her name?" Brittany asked, at a loss of words to say anything else. The man smiled.
"Ambriel," he told her. "Would you mind taking her to her brothers for me? I'm a very busy man and those boys really deserve to see her." Brittany chewed her lip, but nodded, figuring that it wouldn't be the strangest or most dangerous thing she'd ever done for some supernatural stranger. The man smiled thankfully and told her the address she'd have to find and the names of the ones she'd meet there. Brittany nodded and in a blink of an eye the man was gone. Brittany turned her gaze to the child then and grinned gently.
"Let's go see your brothers, huh?" The baby cooed in response.
When Brittany finally pulled up to a house in Michigan that matched the address given to her by the mysterious man. There were no other cars around which seemed strange considering how many people the man had named. There should have at least been a minivan of all things. Brittany got out of the car, taking Ambriel with her as she went. When the came to the door though she noticed it was unlocked. She knocked once, twice, but when nobody answered she decided to invite herself in. She called out, as she walked down the hall, checking the kitchen and finding that it empty along with an unseen note on the floor. They then checked the living room and messy office. There was no one to be seen.
"Shall we try the stairs?" she asked the baby in her arms. Ambriel squealed in response and the two made their journey upwards. Ambriel grew more and more excited as they grew closer to the second floor where the bedrooms must be. When they came into view of several doors Ambriel pointed at one, babbling loudly. Brittany decided that was the door to enter. She pushed it open and was instantly met with the snarling of a large dog, but she couldn't see where it was. It was like the thing was invisible to the human eye. Maybe it was? she followed Ambriel's gaze seeing the baby was staring at the ground by the bed. Ambriel let out a squeal then and the growling stopped. Instead, a happy sounding yap met her ears. Brittany took that as a sign that she was allowed to enter. Brittany made her way farther into the room, noticing the three angels sleeping on the single bed in the room. They must be Gabriel, Balthazar, and Castiel. Setting Ambriel down next to the three, Brittany watched and waited for the three. Ambriel smacked her tiny wings at the three, startling them awake. At first they didn't seem to notice that they had company, but then they noticed the tiny baby beating them lightly with her wings. Their eyes instantly widened and tears built up in their eyes.
"Ambriel?" they whispered, voices shaking. The baby squealed in response and the three boys wrapped her into their arms. .
"How'd you get here?" the one with grey wings questioned. Ambriel pointed to Brittany, eyes twinkling.
"Mama!" she cried. Brittany felt her heart squeeze. That had been the first word she'd heard the tiny angel say since she got her. The boys looked started at first, but then calmed.
"Do the others know you're here?" they asked. Brittany's eyes widened. They didn't know they were alone.
"Oh, they asked me to babysit when we stopped by. Dean...he's shopping." Brittany was suddenly grateful she'd come across the note in the kitchen. The angels seemed to buy the lie and Brittany reached out taking the angels into her arms.
"Come on, lets see if I can find us something for breakfast. Sadly, she came across the same thing the others had on opening the fridge. Nothing.
"You only know one side of the story," Brittany sighed. "Lucifer's I can bet is very different from what you think." Everyone remained silent. Even the angels were silent. Brittany had told them everything, starting from meeting God and ending with covering for the hunters so the angels wouldn't freak. They definitely owed the angel and human big time for that. Sam leaned over, elbows resting on his knees.
"Thanks Brittany. We'll get a hold of him," Sam reassured her. He knew how everyone in the room truly felt though. They were leery of seeing or even speaking to Lucifer again. The last time they had seen him was when he had 'killed' Ambriel. Turns out he hadn't though. Everything had been some sick act for God's plan.
Brittany seemed happy enough with Sam's answer though and she nodded toward's Amber.
"I suppose we should put her on the map, no?" she offered, pulling out a picture of the colorful angel. Sam got up from his seat along with Kevin and Bobby.
"Oh! Yeah, follow us," Sam said, leading Brittany out of the living room and leaving Dean and Charlie alone with the angels. Silence filled the space between Charlie and Dean then as the angels gathered around each other to play.
"Why didn't you tell us?" Dean asked, breaking the silence.
"I didn't want to scare her off like the others," Charlie whispered, looking downwards. "I'm sorry, Dean…"
"Nah, I'm sorry, Charlie. We should've...I don't know...been more welcoming to your girlfriends. You put up with the random people that pop up here all the time after all," Dean reassured her. Charlie smiled and bumped the hunter's shoulder lightly.
"She wants to meet you guys, ya know?" Dean rose a brow at her, smiling too.
"Well, just give us a heads up so we can hide the weapons," he teased. Charlie laughed and Dean joined her before turning his gaze back towards the angels playing on the floor. The angels and Custos all sat in a circle with Old Maid cards tossed around them. Dean had to smile at that. It was the same game the three had been playing when Amber had first appeared.
"Ambriel, quit chewing on my cards!" Cas shouted, pushing his bee pillow between himself and his little sister. Ambriel stuck out her tongue and climbed over the bee pillow, tackling Cas and pulling away one of his cards. It was the Old Maid. "Amber!" Cas shrieked. Gabe and Balthy snickered behind their cards.
"Well, at least we know what card not to grab," Balthazar chuckled. Cas glared at his brothers, bottom lips sticking out in a pout. Dean and Charlie reached out, taking Ambriel and Cas from the floor. Castiel pulled his pillow along with him. Dean frowned when he noticed it in Castiel's arms. He hadn't seen it since Lucifer's betrayal. Well, it wasn't exactly a betrayal anymore. Lucifer hadn't killed any of the angels that day. Their graces had all been saved for being reborn. A sigh pushed past Dean's lips. That meant more angels for them to hunt down before Crowley.
"Ick! Amber, how can you chew on that?" Charlie questioned, pulling the card from the little angel. Ambriel whimpered, reaching for the card with her chubby baby arms.
"Don't make her cry!" Dean shouted, snatching back the card and handing it to the little girl. I just fixed the TV screen from the last time we had a baby angel in here." Dean shivered. Samandriel may be cute, but he had a powerful set of lungs when he was upset.
"She can't chew on a card!" Charlie shouted back at the hunter. Dean opened his mouth to shout back, but went quiet when he noticed Castiel had swapped Ambriel his bee pillow for the drool covered card. Amber grinned at her big brother and started nibbling on one of the bee's antennas.
"BWUZZZ!" Ambriel squealed, holding up the bee pillow. Laughter filled the room along with the ring of Charlie's phone. Charlie whipped out the phone from her pocket and looked at the screen, watching as Lila's name flashed across the screen. Excusing herself, Charlie rushed out of the living room and sat down on the steps leading to the bedrooms.
"Hey," Charlie called into the phone. "I got good news. The guys want to meet you."
"About time!" Lila shouted on the other end playfully. "You better tell your bros to start practicing their bowing because the queen of games is coming!" Charlie rolled her eyes.
"Trust me. They're going to be your best challenge ever," Charlie said smugly. Lila laughed on the other end of the phone.
"We'll see about that," she laughed. Charlie joined her and the guilt from before slowly bubbled away.
So there you have it! The angels Lucifer 'killed' are re-born and Charlie's girlfriend may pop up in the near future. Thanks for reading!
