Christmas Eve Cuteness

"Balthy!" Cas called out, flying around the living room, candy cane in hand. "Balthy, where'd you go?" There was a muffled shout and Cas stopped flying, landing on the fireplace next to a few picture frames. "Balthy?"

"I'm in the sock!" Balthazar shouted, head popping out from a green stocking nailed to the fireplace. He took in a big breath of air, hair ruffled from being trapped in the confined space. Cas frowned at his brother.

"What are you doing down there?" Cas questioned, tilting his head to the side. Balthazar rolled his eyes at his little brother and struggled out of the stocking, grabbing Cas' candy cane when he was finally free. "Hey!" Cas shouted, flying after his brother again. The two zoomed around the living room, not noticing Gabriel hiding at the top of the Christmas tree. Balthazar was just making his way past when Gabriel pounced. The archangel shot from the Christmas tree, knocking it a little with his wings and grabbed the candy cane.

"Hey, look what I found," Gabe mused, grinning at his baby brothers.

"Gabby, that's mine!" Cas pouted at his older brother.

"No, it's mine!" Balthazar pouted back. Gabriel grinned and licked his lips hungrily as he eyed the candy he'd stolen from his two little brothers.

"Well, now it's mine," Gabe started, opening his mouth to take a lick. That's when the Christmas tree decided it wanted a lick too. The tree started to tip farther and farther until finally losing its balance and falling right for the angels. "Oh shit!"

"Timber!" Balthazar screeched, grabbing Cas' hand and making a break for the opposite side of the room with Gabe right behind. The tree crashed to the floor with a great big shattering bang and Dean was in the room in a heartbeat. His eyes landed on the busted tree.

"Seriously?! That's the second tree you've wrecked this month?!" he shouted at the three. "What were you doing to knock it down this time?" The angels glanced at each other in the corner of their eyes before holding up the last bubblegum flavored candy cane.

"This." Dean put a hand over his face, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Right," he huffed, slowly looking back up at the angels. He thrust a finger out, pointing at Balthazar and Gabriel. "You both come with me and the others to get a new tree alright? Cas, why don't you help Charlie and Bobby with the Christmas cookies?" Gabe and Balthazar both frowned.

"Why does he get to make cookies?" they whined. Dean glared at them.

"Because he can't poof them into anything," Dean said, picking the two up and carrying them into the hall to get their snow coats and boots on. He shouted for Kevin and Sam on the way, deciding he'd have the two help them out with the tree. They needed to get outside for some fresh air anyway. They'd been licking Christmas cards all day and Dean didn't want them to drop dead like George's fiance on Seinfeld. Cas scurried to the kitchen, sticking his tongue out at his brothers as he passed them. When he got to the kitchen Cas was hit with the smell of pies, cookies, and other desserts. Custos was sitting between Charlie and Bobby, watching them frost a few sugar cookies. Every once and a while one of the two would slip him a little piece or even a full cookie. Cas flapped his wings and flew up onto the counter, taking a cookie in hand along with a plastic butter knife.

"Oh!" Charlie gasped in surprise. "Hey, Cas. Gonna help us?" she questioned. Cas nodded, and dunked his knife into the colored frosting Dean had made earlier while Bobby and Charlie had made the cookie dough. He spread the frosting over the angel cookie, giving it blue eyes and a tan trench coat. When finished Cas held it up.

"Look! It's me!" Cas shouted triumphantly. Bobby laughed and handed Cas another angel cookie.

"How about you make one for each of your brothers and sisters so when they come over tomorrow they all get a cookie?" he suggested. Cas perked up at the idea and quickly started on making a Gabriel cookie, giving it gold wings and eyes. It was going to be a full house on Christmas Day. All the angels they found were coming over and Piper was even going to pop in with Missouri. The only one that had Cas and his brothers worried was Lucifer. They hadn't seen the angel at all since his betrayal. They wanted to go see him, but Jody had said over the phone that the archangel still felt terrible. Well, that was going to end tomorrow. They'd make sure of that.

"We're back!" Dean shouted, opening up the door for Kevin and Sam as they pulled the new tree in. Balthazar and Gabriel hovered over them, cheering for the strong men. Cas broke away from his thoughts of Lucifer and put down a cookie with red wings next to several others. The trench-coated angel jumped off the counter, grabbing a Christmas tree cookie he'd finished and stopped in the kitchen doorway just as Dean started to walk in. Dean's nose and cheeks were bright red from the cold and snow covered his hair and eyelashes. "Hey buddy," Dean greeted, reaching down and picking the angel up into his arms. "What do you got?"

"I frosted you a cookie," Cas said, holding up the tree for Dean to see. Dean grinned instantly and bit into the cookie while Cas held it. He hummed, licking the crumbs from his lips.

"Pretty good, Cas. I might have to steal a couple." Cas' grin grew wider and Balthazar and Gabriel peeked into the kitchen, glancing up above Dean and Castiel's heads. They broke into fits of hysterical laughter, jolting Dean and Cas from their moment. Cas squinted at them, turning his head to the side.

"Wha…"

"Mistletoe!" the two angels laughed. Dean and Cas both looked up. Sure enough. The plant was hanging right above their heads. Kevin and Sam laughed somewhere from the living room and Dean cupped a hand over his mouth.

"We'll get you back!" Dean shouted through cupped hands towards the living room. Kevin and Sam only continued laughing. Cas continued to stare at the mistletoe, turning his head towards Dean to…

Smooch!

Cas gasped as Dean pressed a big, wet, sloppy kiss to the angel's cheek. Balthazar and Gabriel made gagging noises and scampered back to the living room while Cas looked at Dean in shock. Dean smirked and ticked the angel with a few small kisses on his nose. Cas giggled, wiggling in Dean's arms. The hunter laughed with the angel and carried Cas into the living room where Sam and Kevin were currently transferring the ornaments from the demolished tree to the new one. Balthazar and Gabriel sat on the floor under the tree, playing rock paper scissors in order to decide who gets the last bubblegum flavored candy cane. Dean snatched the candy from the two and split it in three pieces before tossing a piece to each angel.

"There," he hummed. "Problem solved. Now lets get this tree set up!" The angels each popped the candy into their mouths and flew into the air. Dean handed off bulbs and lights for the angels to put up, telling them where the tree looked bare or where there was too much of something. In a matter of moments the tree looked better than ever with glittering tinsel and sparkling lights. "I think that's it for house decorating then," Dean sighed in relief, walking over to the couch to plop down for a rest.

"Oh, no it isn't," Sam called to him. Dean stopped, turning on his heels and frowning at his brother. Sam winked and whispered something in Balthazar and Gabriel's ears. The angels both snapped their fingers and their grace spun around in the space next to the fireplace and window. Their grace sparkled from a bright white and gold to a black as they clumped together and a piano took shape right in front of them. Dean's mouth fell open and Sam's grin broadened. "I know its been awhile, but I think its time we started the tradition again," Sam stated. Dean stepped forward, hand gently gliding over the glistening keys.

"You play?" Balthazar questioned, eyes wide. Dean shook his head.

"Not well. Mom taught me a little when I was younger, but-"

"Dean, you are such a liar!" Sam snorted. "Come on! Play something!" Sam shouted. Dean blushed and cleared his throat before taking a seat behind the large instrument. A booklet of sheet music sat waiting for him and Dean glimpsed over the music until finding one he liked. I'll Be Home for Christmas. It seemed pretty fitting. His fingers moved over the keys, brushing them just right to get out the perfect sound. The hunter lost himself in the music and forgot the eyes on him. Bobby and Charlie snuck into the room with cookie trays and they listened along while munching silently on their sugar cookies. When the song finished everyone applauded and Dean bowed, the tips of his ears tinged red.

"Guess we know who's doing Christmas music for the party," Kevin stated, taking a bite of a snowman cookie from the cookie tray. Dean laughed and pulled Gabriel, Cas, and Balthazar up next to him on the chair.

"Well, then I'm going to need an angel choir," Dean said, eyeing the three.

"As long as we keep the sappy Christmas angel music to a minimum," Gabe said, poking at a few keys.

"And no Titanic music," Balthazar added. Dean laughed and put his fingers back against the keys, playing My Heart Will Go On. Balthazar screeched and started playing random notes in attempt to ruin the song. The entire household burst into laughter and both Gabriel and Castiel broke into song to annoy their brother. Balthazar used his grace and a pair of earmuffs poofed over his ears. Dean graciously stopped playing, relieving Balthazar of his pain. He glanced at the clock on the fireplace.

"Time for bed, Guys. Santa can't come until you're asleep," Dean stated, winking in Bobby's direction. The old man huffed and snuck out of the room, going to grab his Santa suit. Dean and Sam both gathered up their angels and put them to bed and wished Charlie and Kevin both a goodnight. When everyone was asleep the two set out the Christmas presents for everyone for Christmas Day and Bobby threw reindeer corn around while making slay tracks with an old wooden slay they found in the garage. When everything was set up Dean and Sam hid in the living room and waited silently. Bobby snuck into the living room with a bag slung over his shoulder. He let out a few loud Santa laughs and the pitter patter of angel feet scurried down the stairs. The hunters watched the joyous faces of the angels as they watched Santa Bobby eat their cookies and drink the milk they had left out.

"Best Christmas Eve ever," Sam whispered, snapping a picture of the three with his phone without having them notice. Dean couldn't agree more.
