The Wee Hunters
"God damn it, Dean! Get your denim covered ass over here or so help me Father I will throw out all the pie!" Gabriel growled as he chased the hunter around Bobby's house.
"Can't catch me, Gabs!" Dean shouted as he rushed around a corner. The beer drinking, lady killing hunter known as Dean Winchester was now no more. Now Gabe and his brothers were stuck with a pint sized trouble making six year old with freckles.
Gabriel rounded the corner and spotted the Winchester hiding behind a box of old books. Gabe lunged, grabbing the hunter before he could get away. Dean squealed, spouting curses in Gabriel's hold as he tried to calm his frantically beating heart.
"Gabsey! Gabsey!" a tiny voice cried from the living room. Gabriel flinched and glared down at the struggling kid in his arms.
"Look at what you did. You woke him up," Gabriel grumbled, flinging Dean under his arm and walking into the sitting room. On the couch sat a miniature Sammy around two years old. His long floppy hair hung in his eyes and his pudgy legs kicked at the blue baby blanket wound around his feet as he cried.
"Sorry, Samsquatche, your big bro doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut," Gabriel sighed, earning a green-eyed glare from the tiny hunter slung in his hold. The archangel looked around, searching for his brothers. Where the hell were they now? "Cas! Balth!" Gabriel shouted. There was a clanging noise from the kitchen and both Balthazar and Castiel walked into the sitting room. Holding Balthazar's hand was a ten year old Bobby with chubby cheeks with no beard and hair atop his head.
"Gabriel? What's wrong now?" Castiel questioned. Gabriel thrust Dean into his baby brother's arms and Castiel quickly stumbled to grab the six year old before Dean could tumble out of his hold. Dean smiled up at Cas, wrapping his arms around the angel.
"Hi, Caaaaasss!" Dean shouted, nuzzling close to his angel. Cas frowned at the boy and sighed.
"Dean, what is it you did now?"
"What?! Hey, it's not my fault Sammy started crying!" Dean shouted, looking up at Cas with wide green eyes. Bobby scoffed from his place beside Balthazar and Dean stuck a tongue out at the older de-aged hunter.
"Would you guys shut it?!" Gabe shouted lightly. "I'd like to stop a certain two year old from crying before he drowns us!" Everyone shut their mouths and watched as Gabriel turned his attention back onto Sammy. Gabriel gently reached out and held the baby hunter close as he slowly began to rock side to side. Sammy's sobs slowly broke into soft hiccups and then finally small sniffles. "There. That's better, huh, Sammy-boy?" Sam nodded, cuddling closer to Gabriel and the archangel rose off his knees and back onto his feet. "Wanna watch a movie, buddy?"
"Puppies?" Sam asked. Gabriel nodded and went to grab the All Dogs Go to Heaven VHS tape with Sam still tucked in his arms. Balthazar and Castiel watched their older brother disappear and sighed.
"I swear. If we were the ones de-aged we'd be little angels! Not little monsters like these three," Balthazar grumbled, looking pointedly at Bobby and Dean.
"I'm behaved!" Bobby grumbled. Balthazar rose a brow.
"Says the kid that snuck off with a packet of booze and a pellet gun yesterday," Balthazar reminded the ten year old. Bobby's cheeks went red and he looked away from the angel as Balthazar started smirking. Cas looked down at Dean in his arms, waiting for the hunter to say something too, but the hunter remained silent, content with fiddling with Castiel's flipped over tie. Dean noticed Castiel's staring after a second or two and smiled up at the angel, his freckled nose scrunching up as he did so. Cas felt himself grin back and he carried Dean to the TV with Balthazar and Bobby close behind. Gabriel and Sam had stolen the couch. Gabe had Sam nestled against his chest as they watched a dog sing with some giant crocodile. Castiel shook his head as he took a seat in the rocking chair next to the couch. He'd never understand human children's movies. Once Cas was settled in the chair Dean crawled off and grabbed his Legos, dragging them back towards the rocking chair so he could play by Cas' feet. When Balthazar and Bobby entered the room Bobby joined Dean by Cas' feet and started making cars out of their toys. Balthazar let out a tired sigh and stretched his limbs, joints popping . He then plopped down in the center of the floor and stretched out on his stomach, using his hands as a pillow while watching the TV screen. Both Gabriel and Castiel watched as Balthazar rolled his shoulders once, twice before finally letting his wings manifest. Silver feathered appendages stretched all the way across the room and up the walls as he spread them out. Balthazar let out a happy sigh and shook the feathers out before relaxing them again. Neither Gabriel nor Castiel could blame the angel for releasing his wings. They had been cooped up at Bobby's for days, unable to get the chance to fly or stretch their wings. A few days ago Castiel had gotten a call from Dean about some hunt. Cas had popped down to avoid a lecture Michael was giving to help out, but Balthazar and Gabriel joined him too. After a long drive the six found themselves in a warehouse. Before the angels had the chance to notice if they were alone or not, a witch popped out of nowhere and hit the three hunters with a spell, turning them into children. The three had stuck by the tiny hunters' sides ever since, not wanting any harm to come to their friends.
"Hey, Bobby," Dean whispered, poking at the older child. Bobby looked up from the lego truck he'd been building and followed Dean's finger as Dean pointed at something. It was Balthazar's wings. Both boys grinned wickedly and inched towards Balthazar's wings. Each took a different side. Cas and Gabriel watched on in amusement, watching as both boys lunged towards the fluffy wings.
Balthazar spun around, grabbing Dean and Bobby midair and pulling them on top of him. The boys squealed, trying to wiggle away from him, but Balthazar kept a tight hold on the two. His wings wrapped around them, feathers dragging lightly across the boys' sides and bare feet. Giggles broke past their lips and the two broke into pleas for mercy. Gabriel laughed at the three and looked down at the little one on his chest. Baby Sammy was fast asleep, hair tousled in his face and thumb shoved past his fat lips. Gabriel smiled fondly at the baby and felt his own eye lids begin to grow heavy. Casting one last glance at his brothers and the giggling miniaturized hunters, Gabriel let himself drift to sleep.
Gabriel's eyes snapped open and the angel looked around, finding himself back in their house in Minnesota. He glanced down at his body and found that he was still a pudgy little kid. The archangel let out a relieved sigh.
"Thank Dad," he muttered before crawling off the couch he had been napping on and rushing into Bobby's office. Balthazar and Castiel were there, sitting on top of Bobby's desk as they read enochian for him from some old book. Bobby smiled as the angel entered.
"Have a nice nap?" he asked. Gabe shook his head and yawned.
"More like some weird nightmare I'd send Dean and Sam in for kicks," he grumbled, shaking out his wings and flying up onto the desk beside his brothers. Bobby rose a brow at the archangel, but chose not to question him.
RING!
"I got it!" Sam called from the other room. The four ignored him, too busy reading the text Bobby had given him. It was when Sam opened the door when the four finally acknowledged him. "Sorry to interrupt, but…Kevin and his mom found an angel." The book was instantly forgotten.
"What angel did they find?" Gabriel asked. Sam took a moment to answer.
"The angel's wings are a dusty blue," Sam stated. Cas stumbled from where he stood and Balthazar quickly grabbed his little brother before the angel could fall. The angel's face had gone stark white and fear was present in his big blue eyes.
"Cas?" Bobby whispered, getting up from his chair and gently resting a hand on the angel. Sam hurried into the room and Cas swallowed shied away from them, not liking all the attention.
"Cas, what's the matter? Who's the angel?" Sam questioned, starting to panic. What kind of angel would frighten Cas like this? Cas swallowed again, body starting to shake. Both Gabriel and Balthazar unfolded their wings, cloaking them around Castiel's shivering form for comfort, but it didn't seem to help much. "Cas?" Sam pressed. Cas met the hunter's eyes and let out a shaky breath.
"I…it's Naomi."
