Resurrection
Cas and Dean ran out of the crypt and Sam rushed after them, leaving Meg with Crowley. The king of hell had come for the tablet in hope to use that one's power since he never was able to get his hands on the one Kevin still had in hiding. His plan was foiled though and that made Dean want to spin around and gloat, but the hunter kept running. Now wasn't the time to try and get himself killed.
They quickly got into the car and they turned in their seats just in time to see Crowley plunge a blade into Meg's chest. Together they watched her body spasm in horror and she crumpled to the ground at Crowley's feet. His anger filled eyes landed on them then and that was their cue to leave. Turning back around in his seat, Dean floored it and the Impala lurched forward. Cas turned from the back window, leaning forward in his seat, eyes gone distant. Dean watched him in the mirror.
"Cas? Cas, buddy what the hell was going on in there? Who was that woman?" Dean questioned confusion in his eyes. Cas looked at him through the mirror, body shaking slightly.
"Naomi…" Cas whispered. "She...she got me out…" Dean's eyes widened and Sam's head snapped back to look over his seat at the angel.
"Out...like out of Purgatory?" Sam questioned. Cas nodded.
"She's been controlling me s...since I got out." Dean looked like he was going to be sick. Whether he was disgusted with the angel or with himself for not noticing sooner Cas didn't know. "She made me kill Samandriel, she wanted me to k…" Cas trailed off, looking out the window in attempt to avoid the brothers' gazes. The two let it drop and they drove in silence.
The three marched into their hotel room and Cas took a seat at the edge of Dean's bed, head in his hands. He finally had his mind to his own and all he could see was the pain he had once again caused. Sam and Dean watched him, not knowing what to do. Saying that Cas hadn't fucked up was a big fat lie, but some of it hadn't been his fault and he'd always done it in attempt to do good. The question now was what they were going to do about it all? Dean took a step forward, reaching out a hand towards Cas' shoulder, but stopped when the fluttering of wings whispered through the room like the eerie howl of wind at night.
"Naomi," Cas whispered in a hushed voice, not even needing to look up. Dean and Sam both jumped, eye falling on the suited brunette angel standing by Cas' side. Cas made no move to move from where he sat, but Dean and Sam on the other hand readied their weapons to defend their friend.
"Castiel." Naomi said with a nod. She glanced at Sam and Dean, snapping her fingers and their weapons began to melt into a puddle of mush. She turned back to Cas then, kneeling before him. "I'd like to thank you, Castiel." Cas met her eyes, head tilting slightly. "You were right. We were created to protect and guide humanity, but…somewhere along the way we lost our way." Cas continued to stare at her, disbelief present in his gaze. Naomi sighed and carried on. "Like your hunter had said…we are safer with the word of God destroyed and I'm sorry for the pain I've forced you through, brother." Naomi reached out then, touching Castiel's forehead with two fingers. Cas felt her in his mind, searching through memories. After a moment she pulled back.
"Though, you are and always will be the slaughterer of Heaven I respect you and will give what you've lost as payment for your duty in the salvation of Heaven." Naomi clicked her fingers and a young man in red and white striped clothes crashed to the ground. Cas was off the bed in seconds, clutching at the young angel.
"Samandriel?" he whispered. The angel in question opened his eyes and smiled sadly at his brother.
"Hello, Castiel," Samandriel whispered, reaching out and wrapping his shaking brother into a tight embrace. Naomi watched the two, face placid, but her eyes gave away her true feelings. She turned her gaze to the Winchesters after a brief moment and eyed the two of them carefully.
"You both have caused more trouble for my siblings than any human I've seen in a long time," Naomi half whispered. "If it was my choice I would have you both killed where you stand, but…" She glanced back towards Castiel. "Just this once you shall be spared." Dean and Sam watched as Naomi's eyes glistened with thought. "Still, you both are blind in your actions and are a great danger to my people. That is why I give you a gift of guidance." Naomi snapped her fingers again and a man in a cap and beard stood by the door. Dean and Sam's eyes grew round. They turned back to confront Naomi, but she was gone. The two turned back around, wrapping their arms around a very living Bobby Singer. The last time they saw him he was a ghost and the time before that he'd died from a bullet to the head. Bobby frowned and pulled back from the two boys, glancing towards the two angels by the bed and then back to Sam and Dean.
"So…what did you idgits get yourselves into now?"
Naomi watched the interaction through the theater screen in Heaven. She listened as the hunters explained everything that had happened since his death and watched in confusion as Mr. Singer pulled Castiel into an embrace with his two adopted sons. It confused her just as much as she had been when Dean Winchester not only broke her binds on Castiel but also when the hunter had continued to protect the fallen angel.
"I don't understand why you had me do this, Joshua," Naomi began, sensing her brother's presence. "They are better off dead. They are the banes of Heaven-"
"Sister, be calm," Joshua whispered. "God has many plans for those three, but they need help in order to be successful."
"But what happens now, brother? The angel tablet has been destroyed, but the demon…"
"The demon tablet has been taken care of. It is just as much as a danger now as the angel tablet," Joshua reassured her. Naomi huffed.
"You've been busy." Joshua grinned at her.
"Oh, that I have. I also had Singer Salvage restored." Naomi frowned. She'd seen the damage of the hunter's home. It had been nothing, but ash thanks to the Leviathan. "Our worries are now with rebuilding heaven. Their worries are with repairing their family. A home I figured would help them at least a little." Naomi remained silent, her eyes skimming back to the screen. The five were all sitting with each other, speaking softly with one another.
"How can we rebuild what we destroyed?" she questioned. Joshua chuckled.
"Our father has retrieved Michael to assist with Heaven. Our brother has...come to his senses over this apocalypse mess." Naomi's eyes widened and she whipped around, staring at her brother with large eyes.
"Michael?! Is Luci-"
"Lucifer is still in the cage and fear not about Michael. He has had plenty time to think over the consequences of his actions." Joshua waved a hand and the image on the screen changed to one of Michael sitting in the garden, eyes pained and distant. "The hatred has drained out of him." Naomi nodded, still watching the screen.
"So the war is over? This is it? We carry on?" she asked. Joshua grinned and nodded.
"The rebirth of Heaven is coming, Sister."
Naomi eyes shot open and she sat up in the small cot she'd fallen asleep in. She looked down at herself. She was still an infant. Naomi thought over her dreams and now Joshua's words made sense. He had been planning this. All of it. That was why he had Samandriel and Robert Singer resurrected. They were needed for the plan. Naomi thought over the past year. She remembered watching her siblings on the screen with the Winchesters, thinking how absurd it all was. She couldn't understand why they were so willing to give Cas another chance. He'd destroyed so much. Now Naomi was in the same position. She too was getting a second chance, but would she really be granted such a thing? She'd done things. Horrible things. Yes, she regretted them. She had ever since that day she resurrected her brother and Mr. Singer.
Naomi looked up when she heard the bedroom door squeak open. The Asian woman that had found her walked into the room, eyes crinkled in a kind smile.
"Oh, you're up," she said softly, reaching into the cot and lifting the baby up into her arms. Naomi wound her little fist into the woman's shirt and rested her head against the woman's shoulder as she was bounced lightly. "Some friends have come to see you," the woman said softly. Naomi babbled, trying to ask who, but she couldn't produce any words. The woman grinned and carried Naomi towards the door. "Let's go see your brothers."
I promise that next chapter the gang and Naomi finally meet. No more flash backs.
