The Easter Becky
Dean carefully tiptoed down the hall, gun in hand. Right behind him trudged Sam with Ruby's blade held tight in a fist. They had heard a loud bang during the night from the angels' room. Usually they would put it off as the angels messing around during the night or one of them falling out of bed. This wasn't one of those cases. It hadn't been just a simple banging noise. A soft whispering voice came along with it. It was female and there was only one woman that lived in the house, but Charlie wasn't home. She was at her girlfriend's house for the night.
The two hunters stopped outside the bedroom door, listening to the soft voice inside. They couldn't hear what was being said, but neither wanted to take the risk. On the count of three, Sam kicked the door open and the two barreled in, pointing their weapons at the blond woman sitting on the angels' bed. They froze, recognizing the woman.
"B…Becky?" Sam stuttered in confusion. The blond perked up on seeing the younger Winchester and jumped from the bed, running to his side.
"Hi, Sam!" Dean winced at her loud squealing. He lowered his gun, glaring at the girl.
"So what are you doing creeping in the angels' room while we're asleep?" Dean questioned, waving a hand at the angels sleeping in a curled mass of blankets and feathers. "How the hell did you even get in here?" Becky rolled her eyes at Dean.
"I was not creeping. They just look so cute when they sleep!" Again, Dean held back the urge to cover his ears as she squealed for the second time. "Oh, and I used the front door. You guys should really lock your doors at night you know." Dean grimaced. He'd been so worn out last night he must have completely forgotten. He was lucky Becky was the only one that snuck in during the night. But wait…
"What about Custos?" Dean questioned. Even though Becky never formally met the hellhound she most likely read about him in Chuck's books and knew how protective he was. Becky reached into her pocket and pulled out a handful of doggie treats.
"He was a little unhappy to see me at first, but he must not have sensed I meant any harm and he really couldn't say no to these tasty treats." She waved the treats a little before dropping them back into her pocket.
"Okay, but why are you here?" Sam questioned. Becky huddled into his personal space, wrapping her arms around his waist and making him squirm.
"Easter of course!" she cheered. "I figured since Chuck left me I'd come visit you guys so I wouldn't be alone during the holiday. You know?" Sam and Dean shared a look.
"Chuck left you?" the two questioned hesitantly. Becky nodded, face falling.
"Umm…yeah, a while ago already. I don't know why. We were at a good spot. He just…vanished that day the sky got all weird. He even stopped writing the new series with the baby angels!"
"What was the last book he published?" Sam asked. Becky pulled out her phone, clicking on a list of online books. She held it out for the hunters to read. 'Supernatural: The Wee Angels by Carver Edlund. Book 99: Her Boys' was written on the cover page. Both Sam and Dean tensed as they skimmed over the few pages. The book took place before one of their road trips back in the day. When they returned, the sky had gone blood red and God had not only revealed himself, but he had also revealed his plan for the angels. Becky didn't know all that though. She only knew what was in the books. She didn't know that Chuck had left her to become God again or that God had thrown his children to Earth looking like two year olds. She was in the dark.
"Yeah, well…" Dean hesitantly glanced towards Sam. "Chuck's a dick." He didn't know what to else to say. Becky was a pain in the ass, but telling her that God's just been using her or whatever he was doing back then wasn't something Dean wanted to do. Still, Becky seamed to appreciate his words.
"Thanks, Dean." She let out a little sigh and walked back towards the bed holding all three sleeping angels. She carded a few fingers through Balthazar's wing, waking the angel a little. He stared up at her with blurry eyes for a moment.
"Bloody hell…" he muttered, sitting up and bumping Castiel awake on the way. Both angels sat upright, wings flexing behind them in tense motions.
"Hey, cuties!" Becky squealed loudly, grabbing both angels and hugging them tight to her chest. Their wings tensed more and the two sent pleading looks over their shoulders at the hunters watching on the sidelines. Dean forced himself forward and carefully pulled Becky from the two, taking both angels into his arms. It's not that the angels hated her. She just sort of scared them and creeped them out a little at some points.
"Uh…you remember Becky, right?" Dean directed to the angels. "She's going to be spending Easter with us. Isn't that great?!" Balthazar and Castiel both wore smiles of innocence, but the icy glare they were giving him with their piercing blue eyes told the truth behind the mask.
"Yeah, yippee," Balthazar muttered, eyes twitching slightly in annoyance.
"We'll be happy to share some jelly beans," Cas grumbled too.
"Jelly beans? Sharing?" Gabriel muttered, gasping out of his deep sleep. He looked around in confusion, eyes falling on Becky first. He stared at her for a second or two and his face fell into a frown.
"Becky?" One squeal and a rib breaking hug later, Sam had Gabriel tucked securely in his arms while the archangel glared daggers at the over-excited fangirl.
"Glad you're up, Gabe," Dean began suddenly. "It's…" he paused, looking at his watch to check the time. "It's 6:00am and I need coffee and breakfast. Let's get going," he grumbled, adjusting both Balthazar and Castiel in his arms and carrying them downstairs. Sam did the same with Gabriel and followed his brother to the kitchen. Setting the angels on the counter, Dean got started on the coffee and Sam started on waffles. They didn't have any fresh blueberries so chocolate chips and M&Ms had to do instead. Becky took a seat by the table, watching Sam's back muscles flex as he stirred the batter for the waffles and reached for ingredients from the cabinets. The angels watched her out the corner of their eyes, waiting for her to suddenly jump one of them and hug the life out of them. Sam occasionally handed the angels a handful of M&Ms or chocolate chips in attempt to get them to relax.
The group sat together as they ate when the waffles and coffee were finished. They were then joined by Bobby and Kevin. The two had been woken up by the smell of breakfast. Both of them had been surprised to see Becky at the table, but after a few explanations were passed around they were both chatting with the fangirl like they were all just one big normal family.
"Dwean," Cas called from the other side of the table. Dean ignored him, smirking to himself as he did so. It had been a while since they'd played their little game. A small grin crept over the angel's lips. "Dwean!" Unable to keep it up, Dean gave Cas his attention. Castiel smiled at the hunter, smug for winning their game. Dean rolled his eyes at the angel and motioned for him to speak. Cas' grin grew suddenly. "When's Alfie coming over?" he asked. Dean glanced at the watch on his wrist.
"Pretty soon," Dean stated with a wide grin. Sam and Dean had both spent the night hiding the angels' Easter baskets outside. They would have gone for the more traditional hunt with just hiding eggs around the yard, but baskets were so much easier to keep track of. There were a total of four baskets hidden in the yard. One for Gabriel, Cas, and Balthazar each. The last one was for Samandriel. Their neighbor Amy was going to see her boyfriend over the weekend and had to get on a plane across the pond. Neither Simon nor Kieran wanted to risk taking Samandriel on a plane for several hours, so they voted on staying behind and joining the Winchester's for their basket hunt.
"Alfie?!" Becky gasped excitedly. "Heaven's cutest?" The angels nodded and Becky's excitement peeked another level. Bobby and Kevin got up, clearing the table while Sam and Dean got the angels' shoes on for outside. Becky helped and held the door open for everyone when it was time to go out. It was nice outside. The forecast had threatened snow, but it looked like old man winter was giving them a break for once. Instead, the sun was shining and the grass was slowly turning from a straw-like brown to a vibrant green. Even a few flowers had started to grow.
"Hey!" a voice called from the driveway. The group turned, eyes falling on two young men. Both were dressed in green Easter sweaters. Simon's was a dark green with little chicks on it and Kieran's had a flowered pattern of pink and yellow. The little angel with brown, owl-like feathers in Kieran's arms had a teal vest with white bunnies over a collared grey shirt. The group waved at the Winchester family as they made their way over. Dean and Sam both introduced Becky to their neighbors and Becky did everything she could to hold back from grabbing Alfie from Kieran's arms and cuddling the little cutie.
"Well," Simon hummed. "Shall we get on with the hunt?" He held up a camera and handed it to Kevin, grinning along with Kieran and Samandriel.
"Yeah –Oh…" Kevin stopped and turned around to face Sam and Dean. Bobby and I stayed up long after you two to hide some Easter eggs," Kevin stated. Dean and Sam both frowned.
"Kev, we weren't –"
"Oh stop complaining," Bobby interrupted. "You can't have Easter without an Easter egg hunt, idjits." Sam and Dean both rolled their eyes.
"Well, guess that means we better get going," Sam sighed. He set Gabriel on the ground and Dean followed his lead, setting both Balthazar and Cas down next to him. Simon and Kieran did the same, but they held Samandriel's hands so the baby angel wouldn't topple over. The angels scurried off then, searching for their baskets filled with chocolate and their Easter eggs. Becky chose that moment to push something onto Sam, Dean, Bobby, and Kevin's heads. The men frowned and glanced upwards, finding pink bunny ears on top of their heads. They glared at the blond, but she only smiled, stealing Simon's camera from Kevin's hands.
"If you're going to do the Easter Bunny's job you have to look the part!" she giggled, snapping a picture of all four of them before scurrying after the others to snap some more pictures. The hunters and prophet sighed, shrugging their shoulders and running out into the yard to watch the angels find their candy. By the time they caught up, all four angels had found their Easter baskets. That was all to blame on Sam and Dean's hiding skills. They didn't want to hide them too well and prevent the angels from actually finding them. At least they had something to put their eggs in. Cas and Samandriel each had a handful in their baskets. Gabriel and Balthazar had eggs, but not full eggs. Each one was empty thanks to the two very hungry angels. Becky was clicking away at the angels and it was a good thing Simon had brought an extra card for the camera.
Several hours and a trillion pictures later the crew was back in the house. The baskets were all set down in the living room somewhere up high to keep the angels from eating anymore of the sugary goodness. They definitely didn't need any more of the stuff. Bobby glanced at the clock on the wall and patted his stomach.
"I think it's about time we get dinner started don't you? A good old Easter ham sounds good about now," bobby hummed. The others moaned hungrily in agreement.
"Come on," Simon said, stepping towards the kitchen with Alfie tucked in his arms. "Kieran and I can show you how to make the best Easter ham you'll ever taste." Kevin grabbed his stomach as it moaned.
"Oh, man. Let's get going then. Dean, you should make a pecan pie or something," the prophet hummed. Dean licked his lips hungrily.
"Let's get cooking then!" Dean shouted, shoving his way to the kitchen. The others followed, careful not to trip on the angels scurrying around their legs.
"Becky, can you put those pictures on the computer so I can show Charlie when she gets home?" Sam shouted over his shoulder as he made his way to the kitchen. Becky called an affirmative and grabbed Sam's computer.
After snooping through some of Sam's pictures in hope of adorable selfies or sexy pictures she downloaded the photos. She went to turn off the computer then, but an idea popped into her head. She went onto her email, clicking on her contacts and quickly clicked on Charlie's email address. After a few clicks, Becky pressed send. Grinning to herself, she closed her email on Sam's laptop and joined the others to help make dinner.
Charlie sat on the couch of Lila's living room, munching on a chocolate egg as she watched her girlfriend's brothers play poker with a bag of jelly beans set in the center of the table. Lila was in the kitchen, getting the ham and other foods ready for dinner. Charlie jumped when she felt her phone buzz in the pocket of her skinny jeans and she grabbed it, finding a new message from Becky. Charlie frowned. She hadn't heard from Becky in forever. Was a new convention popping up again? Was she offering her some books? Charlie opened the message and several pictures shot into view. One was of their neighbors sitting in the grass with Alfie's basket and Easter eggs. Several others were of the angels looking for their eggs and stuffing their faces with candy. The last made Charlie almost fall out of her chair. The last picture was with all the guys in giant bunny ears.
Lila peaked out from the kitchen doorway and smiled at seeing Charlie's face light up. She popped back into the kitchen, leaving Charlie to enjoy whatever it was that had her smiling in peace.
HAPPY EASTER!
