Gamer Girls

Charlie sat in the beanbag chair at Lila's house; three angels sprawled out on their bellies by her feet with PlayStation controllers held tightly in their hands. Lila had invited Charlie and the angels over for the day. Usually Lila just had Charlie come over, but this time was different. Lila didn't say why she wanted the angels, but Charlie just figured that her girlfriend was missing the little guys.

Charlie looked up from her game of Minecraft and watched as the angels played Crash Bandicoot. Gabriel and Balthazar were making fun of the weird noises the characters were making and Cas was looking at them with his head tilted in confusion. Charlie chuckled at the sight and her laughter was quickly echoed. Charlie looked up, watching as her laughing girlfriend walked into the room with a bag of chips in hand. She scooted over to the side a little, making some room on the beanbag. Lila plopped down, tossing the bag of chips in her lap. She looked at the screen of the computer, raising a brow.

"Minecraft?" she questioned. "I thought you were more of a World Warcraft girl?" Charlie huffed at that, bumping her girlfriend's shoulder lightly.

"For your information I'm an everything kind of girl," Charlie stated, wagging her brows. Lila just stared at her, raising her other brow too. "And...Gabriel got me into it," admitted Charlie.

"You're welcome!" Gabriel shouted over his shoulder at the two of them. Charlie and Lila both rolled their eyes, looking back to the computer screen positioned in Charlie's lap. They were so engrossed in the game they didn't realize what was going on around them. They never saw the angels set down their controllers and they certainly didn't noticed when the angels tiptoed down the hall towards Lila's room.

"Hey, Charlie?" Charlie hummed in response, eyes still glued to the screen. Lila chewed at her lip as she waited for Charlie's attention, but when she didn't get it she kept on talking. "I...uh...there's something I've been wanting to ask you…" Charlie glanced up from her game in confusion and a blush started to creep across Lila's cheeks and nose. "Um...I...I want to ask-"

"ROAR!" Charlie and Lila jumped out of their skin, falling from the beanbag and crashing to the floor. The bag of chips hurled up into the air from Lila's lap, splitting open and pouring potato chips all over the room. Charlie and Lila looked around themselves in shock, searching for what had spooked them. Instead of monsters or ghosts, the girls found three adorable angels instead. Gabriel, Balthazar, and Castiel were standing around them, faces covered in Lila's green face paint and eyes covered in her Minecraft glasses. Lila burst out laughing at the sight of the three and nudged Charlie.

"Ah! Creepers!" she shouted, holding her hands over her face like she was frightened. Charlie set the laptop she had clutched to her chest onto the couch nearby and grabbed hold of Lila, pulling her back from the three creepers. Together they climbed onto the furniture and away to the doorway. They sprinted down the hall, pushing themselves into Lila's room and shutting the door behind them. The angels knocked at the door and growled on the other side. Sometimes the girls would spy fingers poking out from the crack of space between the door and floor. Charlie looked to Lila, face flushed from running.

"What's our plan of action?" she questioned. Lila grinned and hurried to her closet, pulling out the other set of Minecraft sunglasses she had and two bows with a few sets of fake arrows. She tossed a bow, arrows, and glasses at Charlie and the LARPER quickly caught them. When ready and armed to the teeth in arrows, the two snuck over to the door, finding that the angels had gone silent on the other side. The girls hesitated, but reached for the doorknob. Together, they pushed open the door, finding the hallway dark and empty. They tiptoed silently down the hall, careful around the squeaky floorboards. Every room was dark and when they tried to flick on the lights they wouldn't work. Charlie mentally told herself to scold Gabriel and Balthazar later for using their grace to cheat.

"Listen," Lila whispered, suddenly stopping. Charlie stopped too, squinting through the dark. They were only a few steps from the kitchen now and the pale light from the clock on the oven was the only light in Lila's home. "Did you hear that?" Charlie listened, hearing a soft shuffling noise from within the kitchen. Charlie grinned and motioned towards the room. Lila nodded, readying her fake bow and arrows. Together, they peaked through the open door, finding the kitchen empty. They didn't give up on the place though. There were tons of hiding places perfect for baby angels. Together they stepped inside; both on guard for a sudden attack.

A sudden giggle from the top cabinet above the fridge excited the girls and they silently crept towards it. Charlie positioned herself to open the cabinet and Lila got ready to fire the fake arrow. On the count of three, Charlie pulled the cabinet open and Lila shot, hitting a bag of instant coffee instead of an angel. Confusion crossed their features, but it didn't stay for long. The lights in the house suddenly turned on all at once, stunning the girls for a split second. A split second was all the angels needed for their victory though.

Roaring at the top of their lungs, the angels scurried from their hiding spot behind the open door. Lila and Charlie squealed, reaching for their fake weapons, but they were too slow. In seconds the angels disarmed them and tackled the two to the ground, fingers digging into the girls' ribs. Lila and Charlie screeched as their sides were tickled, lashing out with their own fingers in attempt to defend themselves. After several tries Lila's fingers finally found Gabriel's toes and the angel yelped, rolling off of her and onto the floor. Noticing they were down a man, Castiel and Balthazar retreated, hopping off of Charlie and Lila before bolting out of the kitchen and down the hall.

"Traitors!" Gabriel screamed, wiggling in Lila's hold as he tried to free himself. Charlie tossed Lila the fake arrow and Lila tapped it against Gabriel's chest. The angel screeched, dramatically flailing his arms as he pretended to die.

"One down," Lila chuckled, setting the 'dead creeper' on the floor. She and Charlie looked to the doorway leading out of the kitchen, listening as the two remaining scampered in the hall.

"Two to go," Charlie said, readying her bow. She charged from the room, Lila right on her heals.

Charlie stroked the angels' wings gently, watching as the three drifted off to sleep. Not long after their chase, the three had crashed hard, too worn out to even wiggle. That was alright though. With the angels asleep the girls would be able to watch some scary movies without worrying whether or not the little guys would get nightmares.

The floorboards creaked by the entryway and Charlie turned, spotting Lila as she walked in. Lila paused on seeing the sleeping angels, a disappointed look crossing her features. Charlie didn't like that look.

"What's up?" Charlie asked, frowning as Lila knelt down next to her. Lila sighed nervously, glancing around the room until her eyes fell onto the angels sleeping curled up together on the couch.

"I had wanted to do this in front of them. Wanted to get their approval too, but...if I wait any longer I might chicken out," Lila chuckled nervously as she gazed back up at Charlie. Charlie stared at her in confusion, heart suddenly beating fast in her chest. Lila licked her lips and held out her hands, taking Charlie's in her own. "Charlie, we've been dating for a while and I love you. I want to be with you all the time and I hope you don't think I'm moving too fast, but…" Charlie held her breath, heart pounding so fast she thought it was going to fly right out of her chest. Lila's hands squeezed Charlie's tightly. "Charlie, will you rent an apartment with me?" Charlie's heart stopped, her mouth falling open slightly. Lila's nerves started to act up again and she looked around the room, anywhere from Charlie. "Or you could stay here, but I figured that we'd want to get our own place together instead of my stupid place. Well, I guess that's up to you- YOU DON'T HAVE TO! But...but I'd really like it if you'd stay with me and your family can visit all the time because I love them too and I'd do anything for them just like I'd do anything for you and…"

"Lila," Charlie hushed, pulling her hands back and wrapping her girlfriend in a tight embrace. Lila calmed under her touch, sighing heavily as she leaned against Charlie's warm frame.

"Sorry, this has been killing my nerves all day," Lila admitted. "So...what do you think?"

"I can't," Charlie blurted. She felt Lila go tense in her arms. Charlie panicked and stroked Lila's hair reassuringly. "It's not that I don't want to. It's just…" She pulled back a little and waved a hand at the angels sleeping a little ways away from the both of them. "Some crazy stuff has been going on and I can't leave them, Lila. They need me. What if something happens while I'm gone and they get hurt?" Lila frowned at her, shaking her head.

"I wish you'd tell me more about your family," she stated, glancing at the angels in the corner of her eye. "At least then maybe I'd understand why you are so...protective about them." She laughed then. "When I first started asking about meeting them and you looked at me like I'd just smashed a computer I thought they were under witness protection or something," she chuckled. Charlie smiled at her sadly.

"Yeah, I guess that's one way to call it." Charlie looked down at her hands. "It's not all my story to tell and...knowledge is dangerous." Lila scoffed and Charlie glared at her. "It is, Lila, I wouldn't kid about this." Lila stared at her, sighing.

"No, I know you wouldn't. It just hurts that you don't trust me. I consider you family, Charlie." Charlie's heart squeezed as she noticed a tear run down Lila's face. Charlie pulled Lila into another tight hug, holding her tight even though Lila didn't hold her back.

"I'm sorry, Lila. I do trust you. Just give me a little while to think about it, okay?" Lila was silent for a moment and Charlie worried that she'd ruined everything. She waited for Lila to tell her to leave or to kick her out, but none of that came. Instead, Lila wrapped her arms around Charlie, burying her face into Charlie's neck.

"Okay, Charlie," she whispered. "Like I said; I love you. I'll wait as long as you need." Charlie's heart swelled and tears built up in her eyes as she hugged her girlfriend even tighter than before. She wanted to change her decision right there and then, but she couldn't. The Winchesters and the angels needed her more right now than Lila did.

After a quick kiss to the lips, Charlie pulled back and made her way to the TV.

"What'll it be? Leprechaun? Chucky? Children of the Corn? Friday the Thirteenth?" she listed, grabbing the remote from the TV stand and clicking her way to Netflix. Lila hummed, stretching out on the couch.

"Surprise me," Lila told her. Charlie looked to the television screen for a second, flipping through her options before clicking on Oculus. Netflix started loading the movie and Charlie hurried to Lila's side on the couch, careful not to disturb the angels resting there. Lila held her arms open and Charlie snuggled into her side, planting another kiss against Lila's lips. Lila swatted her away playfully when the movie finally loaded and the two settled down, watching their movie until they slowly drifted off side by side with their little angels.

Thank you, Arctic Huntress, for the request!

This might be the only chapter I'll post this week. It's prom week for me so I'm not going to get much sleep or writing time since I'll be dancing and hanging out with my friends. I'll try to post more chapters if I can, but I just wanted to let you guys know.
