Baby, I'm Bored
Gabriel sat sprawled out on the hood of the Impala, clicking his fingers. Every time a bird would fly overhead he'd snap his fingers and turn them into new creatures or change their colors. Gabe was bored out of his mind. Cas was taking a nap inside with Sam, Charlie and Kevin were out for a walk, and Bobby was busy being a bookwork with Balthazar. Dean Winchester though had volunteered to help the angel defeat his boredom. Apparently Dean's idea of doing that was giving Baby a tune-up.
Gabriel yawned, glancing back towards the garage. Dean was taking forever to get his tools. Sitting up, Gabriel looked at the Impala he was seated on, an idea popping into his head. He knew it was a bad idea that would surely get him on the Winchester's hit list, but it was well worth the risk. At least then something exciting would happen.
Gabriel quickly jumped off the Impala and looked it over before holding a hand out towards it. He closed his eyes, whispering under his breath and unleashing his grace. When he opened his eyes, Gabriel found a man that surprisingly looked like actor John Barrowman. His dark hair was messed up and he was dressed in tight black leather and combat boots. His belt buckle was a miniature license plate and images of toy soldiers and Legos were printed onto the black leather belt hugging his hips. Gabe's favorite feature though was on the skin just below where the man's sleeves were rolled up. Tattooed on the skin there were a S.W. and D.W. on the right and a G.W., B.W., and C.W. on the left.
"Gabriel!" Dean called out suddenly. Gabe turned, glancing at the Winchester walking towards him. He could see the nervousness in Dean's gaze as the hunter drew nearer. Dean had a hand on his back pocket where his gun was hidden and Gabe knew there was probably a knife hidden somewhere on the hunter too. Gabriel just smiled, hoping that would help calm the hunter a little. When Dean finally made it to Gabe's side, the John Barrowman lookalike held out a hand. Dean took it and the two shook hands.
"Hi, Dean. I'm Baby," the man said with a wide grin. Gabriel held his breath, preparing himself as he watched the features on Dean's face change. At first they held confusion. Then Dean glanced at the spot he had parked Baby, finding her gone. His eyes widened and something sparked in them. The hunter slowly turned his head and glared daggers at the angel by his feet.
"Uh…I got bored?" Gabriel said as an excuse. Dean raised a brow, glancing back towards the leather dressed man.
"Why the Harkness guy though?" Dean questioned. Gabriel let out a huff.
"I like Captain Jack," Gabriel muttered. "Though…" Gabriel waved a hand at Baby again and the human Impala's image distorted like a pool of water when disturbed. His body changed, looking all the same except this time Baby was a female with short black hair. "…either way they're sexy, no?" A laugh bubbled out of the hunter.
"Well, it's better than turning her pink," Dean decided. Baby frowned at the hunter; arms crossed and lip sticking out in a pout.
"But I liked being pink?" she pouted. Dean pointed a finger at the human turned Impala.
"Shush you." Baby smirked and turned her attention back to Gabriel, picking up the baby angel. Gabriel clicked his fingers, turning her back into a male again. He turned his head to the side, glancing Baby over.
"What do you think?" Gabe questioned. Dean shrugged.
"Doesn't matter I guess. Baby is Baby," Dean decided. The Impala gave him a thankful smile for that and Dean reciprocated it before holding up the tools he had been hunting for earlier. "Guess I won't need these, huh?" he questioned. Baby shook his head.
"No, not until Gabriel's spell disappears or until he changes me himself," Baby clarified. He glanced between the angel and hunter. "What shall we do in the meantime?" Dean thought for a moment. They were back to square one all over again. He tried to think of all the things they could do, but nothing would come to mind. Baby rolled his eyes at the hunter.
"How about the mall?" he suggested. "A little shopping ought to distract us all. Plus, I've never actually been inside one." Dean thought over the idea for a moment. They hadn't gone to the mall in a very long time.
Dean walked over to Bobby's truck seated in the driveway, turning the keys left in the ignition and patting the vehicle lightly on the hood.
"Well, what are you two waiting for?" Dean called at Baby and Gabe. "Let's get rid of some boredom!"
Baby hadn't been too impressed with taking Bobby's old truck to the mall, but Dean had pointed out that he couldn't really drive a human Impala. Once they got to the mall and found a parking spot in the crowded area, Gabe crawled up onto Dean's shoulders and the two made their way to the entrances with Baby close to their side.
When they walked into Mall of America the first thing they saw were the escalators leading to the aquarium a level down. Dean quickly steered them away from the stairs, knowing from past experiences all the trouble they could get in just by stepping too close. Instead, Dean led the angel and Impala throughout the rest of the mall. Baby had never been in a mall before. He'd only been in the parking lots before, hanging out with the other cars and getting compliments on his good looks. Well, that was still happening with him as a human. As they walked, Baby noticed several heads turn towards him to stare. He wasn't the only one to notice.
"This is why you shouldn't have made him look like Jack," Dean commented, glaring at a girl in an Arrow t-shirt when she pulled out her phone. Baby smiled at Dean.
"Is this Jack person popular with humans?" he questioned. Dean nodded.
"A little too popular," Dean whispered, nodding his head to the left. Baby turned his head, eyes widening when several people suddenly started to crowd around them, following the three like a mob.
"Oh…" Baby whispered; too shocked to come up with anything else to say. Dean huffed and when several more phones flashed at them Dean let out a low growl and grabbed Baby's hand.
Big mistake.
As soon as their hands brushed together, phones and cameras went off like gunfire. Baby gasped, stunned by the sudden attack. He felt Dean tug at his hand and Baby let the hunter drag him away from the bright lights and loud crowd. They rushed into the closest restroom, closing the door hard behind them.
"Gabe…"
"I'm on it!" Gabe called. He jumped off of Dean's shoulders and Baby quickly caught the archangel. Gabriel then reached up, tapping Baby on the head. Baby felt dizzy for a moment, but it quickly faded away. Gabe waved a hand at the mirror on the wall by the sinks then and Baby turned to look. She had a female's body now. She still had the same clothes and marks on her body. The only noticeable difference was her famine form and her slightly longer black hair. She hummed at herself, turning side to side.
"It's a good look," she hummed. "Who am I based off of now?" Worry bubbled in her chest. "Not another popular human," she hoped. Gabriel shook his head and pointed towards Dean.
"Nah, just what he envisioned you," Gabriel stated. Baby raised a brow, glancing at Dean. They hunter's cheeks were bright red.
"You've got a good imagination, Dean," Baby commented. Dean quickly cleared his throat, ear's turning just as red as his face. He turned away and opened the restroom door back up, peaking out for a second before waving at Baby and Gabe to follow. The paparazzi were still on their mad hunt for John Barrowman, but when the three emerged they weren't even noticed. Together, the three pushed through the crowd and hurried on their way until they were far away from the mass of people. Free at last, they went back to their shopping spree. Baby was the most excited out of Dean and Gabriel combined about the many shops. She wanted to go in every single one. She dragged the two into dress shops, Peeps, A.C.E.S, Crocs, and several other stores. They went to the Star Trek attraction on the third floor. Dean said that it was lame. He had told Baby that Comic Con had way better exhibits. Even though it was lame, Baby loved it. She'd never seen Star Trek, but seeing all the strange clothes and plastic monsters added to her curiosity. Dean promised to show her a few episodes before she turned back, but Baby doubted that would happen. She could see that the amount of grace to keep her human was pulling Gabriel down. Before, the angel had been full of energy. He had tried on silly hats with Baby and stuffed sugary peep birds into his pockets for later. Now, he shuffled his feet tiredly and raised his arms up for Dean or Baby to carry him every few moments.
"Let's do one more store," Dean suggested as Gabriel's head started to bob against his shoulder. Baby nodded in agreement, eyes falling on a giant structure up ahead.
"What's that?!" she exclaimed. She had never seen such a large statue. Dean followed her gaze, smirking.
"Lego Land," Dean chuckled. He nudged Gabriel a little and the angel hummed tiredly. Slowly, Gabriel sat up in Dean's arms, eyes brightening when he saw where they were headed. Buzzing with excitement and energy again, Gabriel shot from Dean's arms and ran inside Lego Land. Baby and Dean followed close behind and both gasped on entering. Children ran all over, building with tiny Lego blocks or looking at the many sculptures made up. The giant one that had caught Baby's attention was a Transformer. By the entrance were two Stormtroopers with their weapons drawn and in several cases along the wall were miniature sculptures made by guests.
"All of these are made out of Legos?" she questioned. Dean nodded, leading her farther in until they found Gabriel. The angel had a pile of black Legos around him.
"What're you making?" Dean questioned, taking a seat next to the angel. Gabriel smiled at him and Baby then.
"Your Impala," Gabriel said with a grin. Baby felt her heart squeeze and she picked up a black piece. She twirled it between her fingers a few times before adding it to Gabriel's structure.
"Well then," she hummed. "Good thing you have the best mechanic and your very own Impala to help you, huh?" she hummed.
The Lego Impala was the second sexiest thing in Lego Land; Baby being the first. It had four doors with little windows and a steering wheel. Dean even etched the initials currently on Baby's arms into the Lego replica. It looked awesome, but it wasn't perfect just yet.
"It needs one more piece," Gabriel stated, tapping at the spot where the license plate needed to go. Baby grinned and pulled a yellow Lego that had been with her since the Winchesters were little from her pocket. Dean's eyes widened at the sight of the tiny block.
"You sure?" Dean asked her. Baby nodded, pressing the piece into place. She held the finished car up then for all of them to see. The yellow block was the piece de resistance. It wasn't like all the other blocks in Lego Land. It was scratched and dented in various places like any other Lego, but it had a story. It held the story of two boys and their family and now it had found its rightful spot.
It had been a long day for Baby, Dean, and Gabriel. The little archangel had fallen asleep on the way back to the car and was currently curled up in Dean's warm jacket. Baby opened the door up for Dean since his arms were full of baby angel before going around to her own side. She got into the truck and Dean sat Gabriel between him and her, draping his jacket over the angel. Dean met her gaze then, brow creasing suddenly into a frown.
"What's happening to you?" he questioned. Baby frowned, glancing down at herself. Her body was shifting between different forms. One second she was a woman, a weird formation of a four door Chevy Impala, and then a man again.
"Gabriel's spell is starting to rub off," Baby sighed, forcing a smile at his hunter. "Guess we'll have to wait till next time for that Star Trek marathon, huh?" He paused. "Can there be a next time?" Dean smiled then, draping an arm over Baby's shoulders.
"Thousands," Dean promised. Baby's eyes lit up and he pressed a kiss to Dean's cheek, causing the hunter to blush.
"Thank you, Dean," Baby whispered, body shifting back into a woman again. "For everything." Dean gave his baby a smile before turning to the road ahead. The hunter felt like he should have been thanking her. Without Baby life wouldn't have been the same. Baby was his and Sam's home. She was what took care of them and what carried them onward. Dean loved her for that.
Baby started humming Metallica when they turned out of the parking lot and into the heavy lanes of traffic. Dean hummed along with his Impala, bobbing his head and grinning happily. Gabriel joined in with soft snores, cuddled close to Dean's jacket and the Lego Impala held snug in his hand.
Thanks, Emelia124, for the request! I couldn't pick between a guy impala or a girl impala and when I saw a post on tumblr suggesting that John Barrowman would make a good Impala I was utterly torn. In the end I obviously made a few compromises.
