Fixer Upper

Sam squinted at the house currently surrounded by construction workers. The windows were all blown out, there were scorch marks burning the wood of the house and if the beams weren't fixed the roof would definitely collapse.

"So…it's a bit of a fixer upper," he commented while bobbing Lucifer in his arms.

"So it's got a few flaws," the three angels around his feet broke into song. Sam stiffened with dread.

"Like its peculiar burns dear," sang Balthy.

"The burnt reindeer," Cas joined in, pointing at the worker carrying out a box of ruined Christmas decorations from the garage.

"That's a –"

"Hey, guys, this is–"

"Dean-o, you ruined my solo!" Gabriel spat with a scowl as the other Winchester approached. Sam mouthed a thank you to his brother and Dean raised a brow at his baby brother and angels.

"Um…okay. Sorry, Gabe." Dean stepped to the side and waved a hand at the man standing behind him. "Like I was saying, this is Daren. He's in charge of fixing up our house." Sam maneuvered the angel in his arms so he had a free hand. He shook Daren's hand and Daren ruffled Lucifer's hair before looking over his shoulder at the burnt up house.

"We're lucky that the fire got put out when it did. Any later and you fellas would have to start looking for a new place to live."

"If the fire would've gone on any longer…" Dean corrected. "…we wouldn't be standing here." Daren flinched and Sam kicked his brother in the shin before muttering a quick apology to the worker. Daren waved off the apology.

"It's fine. I know how stressful this kind of stuff can be. Now…" Daren nodded towards his men as they carried out ruined trinkets that went up with the house. "My guys are starting off with cleaning the house up a bit. I need to talk to you guys about prices and how you want us to handle everything and then we can start tearing things down and rebuilding."

"When fixed?" Lucifer asked. Daren smiled at the little angel.

"Not for a long while, Buddy. Sorry." Lucifer nodded, not really looking upset that his brothers and their hunters weren't going to be leaving Jody's anytime soon.

"You said something about prices?" Dean questioned.

"Yes, let me just grab the papers and blueprints and we can get started," Daren stated, turning to walk away. He stopped though, turning around and pointing at both Sam and Dean. "Oh! Hey, we found something in your walls." Dean and Sam watched as the contractor lowered his hand to his pocket and pulled out a purple bag with markings on it. The Winchesters' eyes widened. "Don't know what it was doing in there, but we found a lot of them."

"Where did you put them?" Sam questioned, taking the bag from the man. The guy shrugged and pointed at a pile sitting by some burnt up boards and other scraps.

"Over there. What do you want me to do with them?"

"Burn them," Dean growled, handing the bag back. "Every single one of them, okay?" Daren raised a brow at him, but didn't question the hunter. Instead he nodded and walked back towards his boys. When he was far enough away Dean spun on his heal and looked at his brother with wild eyes. Sam reciprocated the look.

"Those are hex bags, Dean," Sam whispered to his brother, glancing at the large pile. Dean growled low in his throat, following his brother's gaze to the pile of hex bags.

"I realized," he hissed. "What the hell are they doing in our house?" Sam shrugged.

"No clue, but I bet that's how that demon was able to move around our house without getting Cas stuck in the devils traps."

"And how he didn't get burnt by the holy water," Dean recalled. They had splashed Cas with holy water in attempt to prove Cas wasn't a demon when Balthazar freaked out over a nightmare. Turned out the angel hadn't been dreaming after all.

"Dwean?" The hunter in question startled from his conversation with Sammy and looked down. He raised a brow at Castiel.

"Hmmm? Who's that?" Castiel rolled his eyes at the hunter and tugged at Dean's pants leg, not going along with their game.

"Dwean, I'm bored." Dean sighed, kneeling down in front of the angel.

"I know, Buddy, but we have to stay here until we get everything figured out."

"Wish our powers were stronger," Balthazar grumbled under his breath.

"Yeah, then we could rebuild the house ourselves with just a snap of our fingers," Gabe stated, glaring at the burnt house beside them.

"Yeah, and then when the strain of your powers grows too much it'll just collapse on top of us," Dean grumbled with an eye roll. Sam shook his head at his brother and looked over towards the lake.

"Why don't you guys go hang out by the dock? Maybe you can catch dragon flies or something?" The angels each shared a look. It was clear that none of them wanted to hunt dragon flies, but they didn't argue with Sam. Instead the four waved goodbye to the hunters and shuffled to the dock, climbing onto the creaking wood and plopping down onto their backsides.

"So fun," Gabriel grumbled, grabbing a cat tail and dipping it into the algae covered water. They couldn't even see the water or anything in it because of the green slime resting on the surface.

"We help?" Lucifer babbled, looking towards the house again. The other three followed his gaze, watching as several men in hardhats punched out broken glass from the windows.

"You know…" Balthazar hummed. "That actually might be kind of fun."

Dean and Sam stood by the burnt doorway of their home, listening as a few contractors talked to them about what parts of the house needed the most work and what others hardly needed anything. They were both in deep discussion over it all when a crashing sound pulled for their attention.

"What the heck was that?" one of the contractors questioned, walking towards where the sound had come from. Sam and Dean followed him until they were standing beneath the tree by the angel's bedroom window. Glass was shattered all over the ground and Lucifer sat next to the pile, staring upward. Dean and Sam followed his gaze, glaring at the three angels sitting by their bedroom window.

"What are you doing?" Dean shouted up at the three.

"We help!" Lucifer squealed, punching his tiny fists into the air victoriously. Sam lifted the angel into his arms.

"Helping?" he questioned. Lucifer nodded and pointed at the contractors punching out the broken glass of the windows throughout the house. Sam shook his head. "Guys, the house is too dangerous for you to be messing around it."

"But we're bored!" Gabriel shouted down from the window.

"We told you to play by the dock!" Dean shouted.

"The dock's boring!" Castiel shouted back. Dean groaned and ran a hand over his face while Sam pinched the bridge of his nose as a headache started to build. They were starting to think bringing the angels along was a bad idea.

"Boys! Boys!" The hunters both turned, eyes widening as a familiar little old lady waddled over. Her white hair was pulled up in a tight bun and her dress was a bright blue with kittens covering it.

"Mrs. Wellington?" the two gasped. The old woman from the cabin in Wisconsin rushed over to them, embracing Sam and Dean tightly.

"I saw on the news that the place was up in flames. I came as soon as I could. Are you all alright?"

"Yeah, we're fine. We've been staying in Nebraska with family and drove back to get an idea on the repairs," Sam explained. "You didn't have to come all this way." Mrs. Wellington waved him off and looked at the angel in Sam's arms.

"Oh! Did you adopt another one?" she questioned, grinning at Lucifer.

"No, this is our friend's son," Dean explained. He glanced over his shoulder, noticing that Daren was making his way over again with the papers. "Mrs. Wellington, can you take the boys over to our neighbors' house across the street while Sam and I finish up here?" Dean thrust a thumb over his shoulder at Daren. "It's going to take a while and you know how kids are." Mrs. Wellington laughed behind her hand.

"That I do," she chuckled. She held her arms open. "Come on sweetie. Let's go on a little trip." Sam handed over Lucifer. The two Winchester's looked up towards the window at the three watching them from above.

"Want to visit Samandriel, Angels?" Dean called up at the three. The angels' eyes brightened and they all jumped to their feet. At first it looked like they were going to rush back inside to take the stairs, but then the three grabbed each other's hands and leapt from the window. Mrs. Wellington and the contractors nearby yelped in terror as the three plummeted downward. Dean and Sam just watched with arms crossed.

With a flap of their invisible wings the three gently parachuted downward and scurried to Mrs. Wellington's legs, hugging her tightly.

"Let's go! Let's go!" they squealed. Mrs. Wellington looked at the two hunters with wide eyes, but the two were already walking away towards Daren and ignoring the shocked expressions surrounding them.
