The Princes of Moondoor
"We'll be back later for battle!" Dean called, waving to the angels as he drove away. The angels waved back, stopping when Charlie and Lila scooped them up.
"Welcome to my kingdom, boys!" Charlie announced, carrying Balthazar and Gabriel to the entrance of Moondoor while Lila carried Castiel and Lucifer. The angels marveled at the scenes around them. The LARPERS bowed to Charlie as they passed and Gabriel snatched the crown off her head and shoved it onto his own. A few people with pointed ears and long gowns chuckled behind their hands at the cute gesture, earning a wink from the archangel.
"Damn. With cuteness like that we won't need weapons to win," Lila laughed.
"What about us?" Cas asked, looked up at her with big blue eyes. Lucifer followed his example. Lila let out a fake cry of anguish.
"Ah! The cute! It's too much!" The angels laughed at her and Charlie and Lila carried them to Charlie's tent. It was bigger than the other tents. It was fit for a queen. A regal painting of Charlie in red robes and her crown hung above her pillow covered bed. Next to the bed was a full length mirror and a desk covered in maps and war plans. She even had her own personal bathtub.
"Wow," Balthazar whistled. "King Arthur's tent sucked compared to this one."
"That's because he wasn't a queen," Charlie hummed, setting the angels down on her bed. Lila set Cas and Lucifer down next. "Okay, let's get you four dressed." Charlie looked to Lila. "Hey can you go get some body glitter?" Lila nodded and exited the tent, closing it behind her.
"Finally," Gabriel sighed in a relief, letting the grace hiding their wings drop. Their wings shot into existence and the angels stretched out their fluffy plumages.
"Don't worry guys. I'm dressing you as fairies so you don't have to hide them for the rest of your time here," Charlie reassured, pulling out some fairy costumes from the chest by the foot of her bed.
"What kind of fairies have angel wings?" Cas asked.
"Cool!"
"That's right, Luci," Charlie beamed, bopping him on the nose with a finger. "Cool ones do." She tossed the fairy costumes she had gotten for the angels onto the bed and the three sifted through them, finding their sizes quickly. Charlie helped Lucifer with his first and worked her way down. All the fairy costumes were off different woodland fairies. Lucifer's had a purplish red skirt and top that resembled the colors of a glitter covered plum. Atop his head was a little stem and leaf hat. His boots were green and pointed. Castiel's skirt and top had a Tinkerbell look to it, but had colorful leaves of red and orange to go along with the green. He had pointed boots like Luci and a flower crown made of twigs and wild flowers. Balthazar's skirt was in the shape of a bluebell. His top was blue too, but decorated with forget-me-nots and other blue flowers. On his head was a headband made to look like a branch and three plastic blue swallowtail butterflies sat perched on top. Gabriel's was Charlie's personal favorite. His top and skirt was an elegant gold that matched his wings. The top had see-through sleeves unlike his brothers' tank topped outfits. The sleeves were thin material and made it look like Gabe had dipped his arms in fairy dust. Atop his head was a circlet that looped down in the back over his hair.
"Damn. I should've turned fairy instead of trickster," Gabriel hummed, looking at himself in Charlie's full length mirror. Charlie chuckled into her hand and the flap to her tent opened. Lila walked in, arms full with jars of body and hair glitter. Her eyes widened on seeing the angels.
"I see why Charlie has a thing for fairies now. You boys are adorable," she squealed, setting the body glitter down on the bed and circling the angels to get a good look at their costumes.
"They're going to look even better with the glitter," Charlie chuckled, picking up a jar of purple glitter and sprinkling it over Lucifer's head. The angel squealed with delight and clapped his hands above his head, trying to catch the tiny pieces of glitter. Charlie handed him the jar and then grabbed one filled with white glitter. She sprinkled it into Gabriel, Balthazar, and Castiel's hair and Lila helped her get it all over the rest of them.
"Shiny!" Lucifer shouted from the bed and Lila laughed at him, tapping Charlie's shoulder and pointing at the baby angel. Charlie turned. Lucifer sat in the center of Charlie's bed. The cover to the glitter jar was popped up and both Lucifer and the bed were covered in glitter. Charlie lept for the bed, grabbing the jar of glitter before Lucifer could decorate himself or the bed any more than he had. Lucifer stuck out his bottom lip at her with a pout and reached for the jar she'd taken from him. Charlie shook her head.
"Oh, no you don't," Charlie said, putting the jar up high and out of his reach. She picked Lucifer up then, brushing off the access glitter covering his skin, clothes, and hair.
"Charlie?" Balthazar called from the flap of the tent. He was peeking through the opening and frowning at something outside.
"What's up?" she asked, walking over to Balthazar. The angel stepped back from the tent.
"Why is there a bunch of people surrounding the tent?" Charlie grinned and ruffled his hair.
"That's your welcome committee." Balthazar continued to frown and Charlie motioned for him to listen. Balthazar peeked back through the crack of the tent flap and listened to the crowd outside.
"Lords and Ladies! Elves and wizards!" a young man in a cloak shouted while standing in front of Charlie's tent. "Today our queen has special guests for us. Please welcome her nephews from the forest of fairies!" He turned then, walking over to the tent. He peeked inside, smiling at Charlie. "Are you ready, my queen?" Charlie nodded and the man held the tent flap open for her. Charlie and Lila stepped out of the tent. Gabriel, Balthazar, and Castiel scurried from the tent, waving at the crowd cheering at them. Lucifer bounced in Charlie's arms with excitement at the attention. "To celebrate their arrival all attacks will be paused and a great feast will be held in their honor. The fairies' guardians will also return later to join us in the celebration," the announcer proclaimed. He held his hands out to the crowd then. "Please hurry and prepare for tonight." The crowd bowed to the queen and her fairies and disappeared in excited clutter. The announcer then turned, bowing to Charlie before disappearing along with the others.
Charlie and Lila led the angels around their camp in Moondoor, showing them the different tents. There was a blacksmith tent filled with weapons that could be bought or traded for. The girls showed the angels the dungeons and the courtyard where the party would be held later. When they made their way to the stockades the angels got to throw fake tomatoes at an imprisoned goblin. The angels favorite tent though were the ones stuffed with food that made the angels' mouths water.
"Better feed the troops," Lila said, noticing the way the four angels ogled one of the food tents. She pulled a few coins from her pocket and walked over to one of the food stands. Charlie helped her carry the trays of food over to the stretch of tables nearby. On the trays were some chicken, mashed potatoes, and peas. The angels dug in while Lila and Charlie sipped at red wine that was actually cherry Kool-Aid. Everyone was enjoying themselves except for Lucifer. The archangel was glaring at his peas. He hated the little green balls. They were gross and constantly rolled away when he tried to pick them up with his spoon. Lucifer glanced around, eyeing Gabriel with an evil smile. He grabbed a fistful of peas and dropped them onto his spoon. He turned the plastic utensil around then like a catapult and sent an arch of peas right for Gabriel's head. Gabriel yelped as the peas attacked him and glared at his little brother.
"Why you little–" Gabriel grabbed a handful of potatoes and chucked them across the table. Lucifer ducked, evading the mess of squashed spuds. The potatoes continued to fly through the air until they hit Balthazar's chest. Balthazar glared at his brothers.
"Oh, this is war."
Charlie and Lila ducked as food flew through the air. Chicken, mashed potatoes, and peas were everywhere. Charlie felt something brush against her leg and looked under the table. Castiel sat on the ground by her feat. A chicken bone was sticking out of his hair and he had some food decorating the skin just above his eye.
"Hey, buddy," she called. "Hiding from the war?" Cas nodded and then looked down at himself.
"I'm dirty." Charlie laughed and pulled him up into her arms.
"Food fights can do that. How about a bath in the royal tub?" She looked up from under the table then, finding that Lila had managed to somehow stop the fight without getting covered in food. She had the three angels secure in her arms and ready for bath time.
"Back to the tent!" Charlie shouted, racing down the dirt road with Cas tucked in her arms. Lila followed, racing her girlfriend back to the tent.
The angels sat in Charlie's tub, playing with the bubbles floating above the surface. Lila got up from the one side of the tub and walked towards the exit of the tent.
"Hey, I'll go get someone to clean up the mess at the tables," Lila told Charlie. Charlie nodded, waving at Lila before she disappeared out of the tent. Charlie got up then from sitting beside the tub and picked up the angels' stray clothes.
"You four be good. I'm going to get your clothes cleaned up, okay?" The angels nodded and Charlie disappeared out of the tent. As soon as they were alone Gabriel let his grace drop and both his wings and the others' stretched free. The four sighed in relief and started scrubbing the plumages. They dunked their wings beneath the water and when the plumages would pop up from the surface they'd be covered in suds. The angels were so engrossed in enjoying their bath they didn't notice the flap of the tent swinging open again.
A gasp rattled from the entry way of the tent. The angels startled, swiveling around in the bath. Lila stared at the angels with wide eyes and open mouth. Her eyes were trained on the space where their wings connected to their backs. She tried to find something that would give away that the wings were fake, but there wasn't anything. They were –
"Real. They're real," Lila gasped. "How…?"
"Angels," Gabriel stated slowly. "We're angels." Lila's shook her head, hand clasping over her mouth.
"This is the secret Charlie was keeping. Her family is a bunch of angels."
"No, only us," Castiel corrected. "The others are human." Lila shook her head and walked over to the bed. She flopped on top of it and buried her face into a glitter covered pillow.
"I was prepared for anything," Lila mumbled. "I was ready to believe you were secret operatives for the government, but not freaking angels!"
"No mad," Lucifer pleaded, flapping his wings against the water nervously. Lila looked up at him.
"I'm not mad, Luci, I'm just…oh God…" Lila looked between Lucifer and Gabriel. "Lucifer and Gabriel? As in the Lucifer and Gabriel?!"
"Uh…"
"Guys, I'm back –" Charlie's mouth fell open and the freshly cleaned clothes she'd been carrying fell to the ground. She looked between her girlfriend and the wings peeking out from behind the angels' backs. "Oh boy."
"You have some explaining to do," Lila said, head falling back into her pillow. Charlie sucked in a breath. This was in no way how she planned for Lila to find out, but it would have to do. Letting out the breath she had taken in, Charlie walked over to the bed and sat down next to Lila's sprawled out body. She rubbed Lila's back comfortingly.
"I guess I should start at the beginning, huh?"
"Wow," was all Lila said when Charlie finished. Charlie had told Lila everything. She told her about the Winchester, monsters, demons, and angels. She told her about the leviathan and the fairy she made out with. It was a lot to take in at once, but Charlie hoped Lila would be able to handle it.
"So…what do you think?" Gabriel asked from his spot on the bed. Charlie had managed to get them dressed in their freshly cleaned clothes halfway through her story. She was out of purple glitter for Lucifer's costume, but that was hardly a problem since some of the stuff was still in nooks and crannies of Charlie's bed.
"I think…" Lila started. "…that I need to invest in those Carver Edlund books." Charlie laughed at that.
"Well, don't tell Sam or Dean if you do. They hate those things," she stated. She looked Lila over. "So…we're okay?" Lila turned her head to the side.
"Well, I am jealous that you got to make out with a fairy, but…yeah, Charlie. We're okay." Charlie grinned and bent forward, capturing Lila's lips with her own. Gabriel covered Lucifer's eyes with his hands and then Castiel and Balthazar's with his wings.
"Excuse me? My lady?" Lila and Charlie reluctantly pulled apart as someone called from outside the tent.
"Come in!" Charlie called. The announcer from earlier in the day stepped inside. He smiled at her.
"The feast is ready."
The party was definitely fit for royalty. There was music, dancing, and tons of pie and other foods. The guests of honor even managed to show up on time.
"How were they?" Dean asked, giving Charlie a big hug. He was dressed in the same outfit he'd worn the first time he'd come to Moondoor. Sam wore the clothes he had worn during one of the Moondoor battles he'd joined in on, but he wore his hair differently. Apparently, Sam had stopped by an angel with red hair and fiery wings to get it specially braided for the occasion.
"They were angels," Lila said with a wink. Dean frowned, but didn't question Lila's choice of words. Instead, he ran out into the crowd where Kevin was currently dancing with the angels to the music playing throughout Moondoor. Lila held her hand out to Charlie. "May I have this dance?" Charlie gave Lila her hand.
"You may," she said with a grin. Lila squeezed Charlie's hand in hers and led her queen to where Dean and Kevin twirled around in circles with the angels. They waved at Sam and Bobby to join them, but the two hunters waved them off, too busy with the good food and ale being passed around. Lila and Charlie joined hands with Dean, Kevin, and the angels, spinning in circles and singing along to the music until the sun set and the moon lit their dance floor.
