The Wonderful World of Tokyo
Sam, Bobby, Kevin, Charlie, Gabriel, and Balthazar sat outside the men's bathroom of an airport in Tokyo, Japan. A few nights ago the angels had woken up in a cold sweat with images of Japan and a baby angel and his wings. The tips of the wings had been a mustard yellow color in the vision. The rest of his wings were an eggshell white with flecks of orange. Gabriel knew the angel, but his brothers knew him better. They had fought the civil war in heaven with him after all.
"I hate flying," Dean croaked, exiting the bathroom with Cas in his arms. He was paler than usual and his cheeks had a green tint to them. Cas patted his arm gently, comforting the sick hunter as best he could.
"It's fine, Dwean. No more planes until after we see Bartholomew," Cas reassured. Dean groaned, but didn't say anything else concerning planes. Instead he walked over to the rest of the group.
"You guys should see the toilets. They look like porcelain baby baskets stuffed in the floor!" Dean said on approaching. Bobby raised a brow at the hunter and then looked to Charlie.
"I thought you said they had cool high tech toilets?" he questioned. Charlie shrugged.
"Well, they have those other toilets too," Charlie defended. She picked up her backpack and swung it over her shoulder. "Shall we go?" The guys nodded, grabbing at their duffle bags and backpacks. The eight made their way to the main exits and pushed through the large doors. A bus rolled up alongside the walkways and everyone piled on, staying close together so not to get separated. Once the bus was full it started down the road, taking the passengers into the middle of Tokyo. It lurched to a stop after a while and the eight hurried off, eyes widening as they got a look at the new world around them. Tokyo was huge and alight with color. Shops were everywhere, stocked full of strange food, anime, and tourist stuff.
"Look at all the anime!" Balthazar squealed in delight. Attack on Titan, Free!, Tokyo Ghoul, and Sailor Moon merchandise hung behind the glass of several stores the angel couldn't pull his gaze from. "Can we go look? Please?" Dean patted Balthazar on the back lightly.
"After we find Bartholomew," he promised. "Then we'll explore and you can get a full body pillow of Sailor Uranus." Balthazar stuck out his bottom lip, pouting quietly as Dean steered him down the walkway again and towards an intersection. His eyes widened as he and his family was suddenly engulfed by a swarm of people. Dean quickly reached out, trying to find the angels' hands before the crowd swept them away. His hands met open air. Dean swung around, eyes searching for the others.
"Over here!" Sam called. He had Gabriel tucked in his arms, but no Balthazar or Castiel. Dean looked around again, spotting Charlie, Kevin, and Bobby a few feet away. They waved at him and tried to push their way back through the crowd to him. They didn't have Balthazar or Castiel either. Dean's heart pounded hard in his chest with panic.
"Cas?! Balthy?!" Dean called into the crowd, shoving past the crowds upon crowds of people. He raked his eyes over the crowd until he spotted a man a few feet away dressed in what looked like a police officer uniform. Dean forced himself over to the man, breathing heavily once he finally broke out of the park. "Please," he panted. "My boys…I lost my –" Dean stopped short when he noticed two young ladies standing behind the officer. They wore big bows in their dyed hair and puffy dresses. In their arms were Dean's angels. "Oh thank God," Dean gasped, running a hand through his hair before taking the angels from the girls. He looked them over, searching for any bruises or scrapes. The angels were spotless, except for the kitty ears sticking up out of their hair.
"Look, Dwean!" Cas shouted, bending his head forward a little so the hunter could get a better look at the ears. "They're neko ears!"
"We got lost in the crowd and they found us," Balthazar added, pointing at the two girls smiling next to the cop.
"We gave them our Neko ears to keep them calm while we looked for help," one of the girls explained in English. "They're so cute in them!"
"Thanks for taking care of them," Dean said, nodding at the two. He looked between the ears and the girls. "Do you…?"
"They can keep them," the other girl reassured. "My sister and I have plenty."
"Thank you!" the angels yelled gleefully.
"You're welcome," the girls said with wide smiles and a small wave before disappearing into a nearby shop. Dean let out a sigh and looked to the police officer that had been watching the exchange. He nodded at Dean.
"Sorry for the trouble, Officer." The officer shook his head.
"Don't worry about it, Sir. It happens more than you think. Just please make sure your boys stay close." The officer walked away then, eyeing the crowd carefully. By then the others had finally made their way through the crowd and to Dean's side.
"I knew we should've worn matching shirts," Sam huffed.
"Ew. No way, Sammy," Dean gagged. He looked at the two angels in his arms and Gabriel. "You three have to stay close, okay? If one of us aren't carrying you then you better be holding someone's hand. Got it?" The three angels nodded and Dean glanced around again. "You feel your brother anywhere close by?" The angels looked around, squinting off to the distance.
"Over there," Gabriel hummed, pointing down the road. "But he's really far away." Dean set Balthazar and Castiel on the ground, keeping himself bent a little so he could hold their hands.
"Let's go find him then so we can check out those anime shops!" The angels cheered and Balthazar and Castiel tugged at their hunter's hands, pulling him along the walkway.
Dean knocked on the door to the little house the angels had seen in their vision. It was a small, traditional Japanese house with sliding doors and nice sized windows. It was also all the way out in the country. It was nowhere near the flashing lights, bicyclists, and roaring busses. It was several miles on a patch of bright green grass surrounded by a few trees. Dean was used to walking long distances, but the stretch of land he and the others had walked to get to the house had been insane.
The door to the house slid open and a woman peaked out from behind. Her eyes widened when she spotted the eight tired travelers. She stepped fully into view and forced a smile at them.
"Good morning," she greeted.
"Uh…hi," Dean greeted back. "My name's Dean and this is my family. We're wondering if you can help us find somebody?"
"Of course," the woman said. "I'm Aiko." She stepped to the side, leaving the door wide for them to enter. "Please come in and make yourselves comfortable. You look like you've had a very long day." Dean gave her a thankful smile and made to step inside, but Sam grabbed him by the arms.
"Uh, Dean, you're supposed to take off your shoes," Sam reminded.
"Oh," Dean said dumbly. He kicked off his boots and stepped inside. "Sorry," he apologized to Aiko.
"No worries," she said with another smile.
When everyone had their shoes removed, Aiko led them through the house to a room that looked like a living room. The house itself was traditionally built, but the inside had more of a modern feel to it. There was a table in the center of the room and a couch pushed up against the wall. Sitting on the couch was a man and two boys. One of the boys looked like he was in high school while the other looked around two. The other also had naturally blond hair unlike his darker haired family.
"This is my husband Hibiki and my sons Isamu and Bartholomew," Aiko introduced as they entered the room. "Hibiki stood from the couch and shook everyone's hand.
"Hello, welcome to our home," he greeted. Bartholomew and Isamu looked up at their guests and Bart's eyes bulged as he recognized his brothers' graces. Balthazar, Castiel, and Gabriel winked at him and gave a small wave before giving their attention back to Hibiki and Aiko.
"I was just making some tea," Aiko said. "Would you like some?"
"That would be great," Charlie agreed, taking a seat on a little cushion by the table centered in the room. Aiko disappeared then, wondering into a room nearby.
"You have a lovely home," Bobby commented, killing the silence that threatened to take over once Aiko left.
"Thank you. It was my grandfather's," Hibiki explained. "I've been thinking about selling it though. It's gotten a bit small for us." Hibiki's eyes flicked towards Bartholomew briefly. "But I do enjoy the privacy of the country."
"Hey, we know how you feel," Kevin started. "We have a place in the country back home too. It's pretty peaceful out there."
"Where do you live?" Isamu asked curiously.
"Right now we're staying in Nebraska, but we actually live in Minnesota. Our place there is… currently under construction," Dean hummed.
"Isamu, did you finish your school work?" Aiko questioned as she brought in a tray of tea. She held the tea out, offering the little cups to her guests first.
"What's high school like here?" Sam questioned while taking a cup of tea from the tray. Dean rolled his eyes at his nerdy baby brother.
"Yes, I finished," Isamu said to his mother before turning back to Sam. "Actually your high school is our middle school so I'm actually in middle school." Sam's eyes widened with curiosity. "Our classes also go year round."
"That must suck," Dean commented, helping Aiko pass out the tea before taking his own. "And I thought only having the summers off of school was stupid." Isamu shrugged at the comment.
"I can't complain." He looked at the angels then. "What's it like in Minnesota?" he questioned. The angels stiffened and looked to Sam and Dean for help.
"Uh, they don't go to school," Dean explained quickly. Isamu frowned in confusion.
"I thought there was a law that children had to go to school at a certain age?"
"No, you're right," Sam piped in. "We home school our boys. It makes things a little easier for us." It was somewhat true. With their grace and wings there's no telling what trouble the three would get into. Then there was the little fact that the angels were older than dirt and new more than the usual history teacher. There was no doubt that the hunters would find one or all of the three in the principal's office for calling their teacher and idiot for not knowing the true reasoning behind the civil war. Lastly, going to school was too dangerous of a place. What if Crowley or somebody showed up to nab the angels? No, school was just too risky of a place.
"What brings you to Tokyo?" Hibiki asked, changing the subject.
"Yes, you said you were looking for someone?" Aiko added, sipping lightly at her tea. Dean straightened and glanced at the others. They all nodded and Dean smiled at the family of three and one angel.
"Right, you see my family and I have this job," he began. "We look for families and help them out."
"Just random families?" asked Isamu. Dean shook his head.
"No, just families with angels." Cas, Balthy, and Gabriel let their wings snap into existence then and gasps echoed through the house.
"Hibiki, they…they look like…" Aiko trailed off and looked at Bartholomew. The angel had dropped the blanket from his shoulders, revealing a pair of white wings with yellow tips and orange speckles.
"Isamu found him," Hibiki began, reaching out and petting his adopted son's wings lightly. "He was riding his bike on his way home, but wasn't paying attention. He hit a man."
"I told you, Dad," Isamu groaned. "He wasn't a man. When I tried to help him back up his eyes flashed black and he ran away. He left Barty behind though."
"Why'd he run away?" Bobby questioned then. "If he had black eyes like you said…well, sorry, but you probably shouldn't be alive right now, kid." Isamu licked his lips and pulled a small pendant out from under his shirt.
"He was going to hit me until he saw this," Isamu explained. Bobby's eyes widened.
"Well, would you look at that…" he whistled.
"What? What is it?" Kevin asked.
"That's my grandfather's," Hibiki explained. "It's for protection."
"No kidding," Balthazar hummed, flying into Isamu's lap. He took the pendant between his fingers, looking it over carefully. "The thing is engraved in nothing but warding and protection spells. That demon would've got more than just a one way ticket back to hell if he'd touched Isamu."
"Demon? Angels?" Aiko questioned fearfully. "So they really are real?"
"Yeppers," Gabriel hummed, smiling up at her over his cup of tea.
"Why would a demon have a baby angel though?" asked Hibiki. Dean and Sam let out a long sigh. They hated repeating the same mantra over and over again, but it had to be done until they started making recordings of themselves to hand out.
"Alright so let's get this out of the way first," Dean began. "Supernatural creatures are real and we…" Dean waved at his family. "…are hunters. We hunt down Supernatural creatures. Well, that's mostly become a side job now since God showed up."
"God?" Aiko, Isamu, and Hibiki stuttered at once.
"Yeah, he showed up not too long ago with this plan for making Heaven better or something. He cast the angels down to Earth and de-aged them. He gave us the job of finding them and making sure they were safe."
"Which is easier said than done," Charlie huffed. "Turns out demons have been caging up angels, but what's a demon doing with an angel here?"
"Maybe Crowley's angel stash is nearby?" Bobby suggested. He looked to the angels. "You didn't sense anymore angels around here did you?" They shook their heads.
"Benny called me a few days ago saying he saw a demon carrying an angel to a home with abusive people living there," Dean huffed, thinking about the call he had gotten from the vampire. "Maybe the same thing happened here?"
"What's the point in that?" Sam questioned. Dean shook his head.
"No clue, but it can't be good. I'll give Benny and Kali a call later." Dean looked over to Balthazar. "But before that…" Dean ruffled Balthy's hair, messing up the cat ears pinned to his hair. "…we have a few anime shops to check out." Dean winked at Bartholomew. "Want to help?"
"Me help!" Bart cried, clapping his hands together. "Help! Help!"
"Can I come to? I know some awesome shops!" Isamu asked, looking between his parents and the Winchester's for permission.
"As long as it's okay with them," Aiko said at last. Isamu looked excitedly to the Winchesters and both brothers shrugged.
"Yeah, why not?" Isamu cheered in delight, punching his fist into the air and quickly scooping up his baby brother. Sam stood up and patted Aiko and Hibiki on the shoulder.
"We'll give you some advice and stuff for Bart when we get back," he promised. The two nodded in answer and Sam shooed the angels to the front door. "Hey, Dean?" Dean hummed in response, looking up at his brother while tying his shoes at the door. "Do you think we should give the angels a limit for what they can buy?" Dean snorted, shaking his head and pulling a plastic card from his pocket. He waved it around with a toothy smile shimmering past his lips.
"Why limit ourselves, Sammy? We got plenty of fake credit cards that need spending anyway." Dean dropped his card back into his pocket and finished tying his shoes.
"Yeah, but who's going to lug all the stuff back here?" Sam huffed, crossing his arms over his chest. Dean gave Sam a wink, shoving him lightly before racing towards the others as they followed Isamu to a nearby bus stop. Sam shook his head and raced after his brother and the others, shoving past Dean playfully when he caught up.
Thank you, deathraptor22, xxXKmiXxx, and cookiesgal24 for all the help. There will be a part 2 to this. I didn't get to fit in everything that I wanted to so hopefully I will in the second part. I will not be posting anything else this week. I'm going to be at the Supernatural convention in Minneapolis. Hope you all enjoy the chapter!
