Feathered Warriors
Castiel sat in a big chair in the library. In his lap was a book and atop his head was the set of neko ears he had gotten from Japan. He turned the page of his book, captivated by the story. He had started reading the Warrior Cat series the other day and was only a few books away from being completely caught up.
"Cas!" Dean's voice called through the bunker. "Lunch!" Cas sighed and closed his book. He stared at the cover and the fuzzy cats curled up there. He reached a hand up to the top of his hair, pinching at the black cat ears sitting there. A small smirk curved over his lips. He had an idea.
Dean flipped waffles onto a large plate. He turned, placing the pile in the center of the table, expecting the angels to dive right at it. Instead, three kittens dashed at the plate. Dean yelped, grabbing at the waffles and pulling them back before the felines could get to the angels' breakfast. He looked at the three cats on his table and then at the spots where Balthazar, Rachel, and Gabriel had once been sitting. Now the chairs were bare of the feathered boys and girl.
"Meow," the cats called, sitting on the table and staring up at Dean innocently. Dean glared at the animals, feeling his nose already starting to itch. He held back the growing sneeze in his nose and kept his focus on cat one, two, and three. Cat one was a really fluffy cat with red fur and eyes that were a yellowish gold. The second cat was a grey calico with short hair and bright blue eyes. The third was an American Shorthair with just as bright blue eyes as the second.
"Cas!" Dean called. There was only one way the three kittens could have gotten into the house. His blue eyed, animal loving angel was in no doubt responsible. "Cas –ACHOO!" Dean covered his nose as another cat slunk in and triggered another sneeze. The new cat was a Siamese with big blue eyes. "Son of a bitch," Dean growled, glaring at the three animals. "Cas, get your –ACHOO! – ass in here!"
The Siamese jumped at Dean, pouncing right into the hunter's arms. Dean yelped and tried to unstick the creature from his shirt, but the kitten stuck its nails into his ACDC shirt. Dean glared down at the animal, but the cat just lovingly head-butted his face.
"What's all the shouting about?" Kali questioned, walking into the kitchen in a long blue dress and dangling earrings. She glanced at Dean and the three cats, a smirk playing at her lips. She picked up the fluffy orange one, scratching its head lightly. "Afternoon, Gabriel," she cooed. The American Shorthair let out a loud mewl and rubbed her head against Kali. The goddess chuckled and scratched behind the kitten's ears. "Afternoon, Rachel."
"Gabriel? Rachel?" Dean yelped. He looked closer at the orange feline and the cat let out a loud meow in answer. Dean looked down at the kitten in his arms. It bumped its head against Dean's chin again and Dean let out a loud sneeze. "Son –ACHOO! – of a –ACHOO! –bitch," Dean sneezed. "They're cats?"
"Obviously," Kali stated, setting Gabriel down on the floor and walking over to the fridge. She pulled out a jug of milk and the kittens dashed over to her. Cas even jumped out of Dean's arms and scurried over as soon as his feet landed on the tiled floor. The three bumped at Kali's legs and mewled for the milk she held in her hands. Kali waved a hand and three dishes of milk appeared on the floor. The kittens charged at the milk, slurping at it happily. Dean let out another series of sneezes and Kali handed over a box of Kleenex she had conjured up with her powers. Dean took it, pulling a few tissues from the box before collapsing into a chair at the kitchen table.
"This is not how I wanted my day to go," he grumbled behind the tissue. Castiel waddled over to him, milk dribbling off his tan chin. "Shoo," Dean huffed, waving his hand at the angel turned kitten. Cas stretched in answer and leaped into Dean's lap. He curled up, tail swishing back and forth lazily. Dean sighed in defeat and scratched at Castiel's black ears. The kitten rolled over so his belly was showing and Dean's fingers scratched lightly until Cas started patting at his hand with his tiny paws. "Wonder why they…" Dean stopped for a second, forcing back a sneeze threatening to come up. "…turned themselves into cats?" Dean muttered while playing with the kitten rolling around in his lap.
"Because they can," Kali stated simply. She waved her hand and a small laser light appeared in her hand. She wiggled the light at the floor between Balthazar's back feet. Gabriel and Rachel charged at it, toppling over an unsuspecting Balthazar. Kali laughed and wiggled the red dot across the room, sending the kittens pattering over the tiled floor to catch their prey. Dean sneezed as the kittens ran around the legs of his chair and Cas patted at his nose with a soft paw in a show of affection. Dean turned his head away from the little kitten and let out another terrible sneeze. His eyes were watering now and he could feel a headache springing to life right behind his eyes. He whipped out his phone from his pocket, sending a quick picture of the fur ball currently batting at his face and a text for help to his little brother hiding somewhere deep within a pile of books in the Library.
"Kitties!" two loud voices squealed from the doorway. Dean looked up, watching as Crowley and Abaddon crawled into the kitchen on their hands and knees. The hunter frowned.
"Where's Bobby? I thought he was watching –ACHOO! –you two?"
"Sleep'in," Crowley babbled before grabbing Balthazar by the tale and yanking the cat into his arms. Abaddon pulled at the grey calico's whiskers and Balthazar hissed in warning. The two demons gave him another yank and Balthazar let the claws loose. He wiggled from Crowley's hold and jumped into the air and onto Dean's lap. The demons crawled over, lifting their hands in attempt to reach the runaway kitty, but they were too short. Balthazar smacked a paw at their grubby little hands when they reached for his long tail flicking near Dean's knee with agitation. Gabriel and Rachel were unfazed by the two demons in the room. They just raced around the legs of Dean's chair, in hot pursuit of the red light from Kali's laser. Then there was Cas. The little kitty had moved up onto Dean's shoulder and was tickling his tail under the hunter's nose.
Kali yanked out her phone with the hand that wasn't holding the laser and pointed it at Dean, snapping a few pictures before going right to video.
"Wha –ACHOO! –are you doing?" Dean groaned as he glared into the camera pointed at him. Kali just grinned.
"Cute cat videos are all the rage now days, Winchester," she said with a smirk before going back to filming the hunter's pain. Dean closed his eyes, praying that the angels' spell would go away soon or that Sam would finally show up with some meds.
Apparently hearing his brother's prayer, Sam finally stepped into the room with a little bottle of allergy pills in hand. He frowned at his brother, Kali, Crowley, Abaddon, and the four kittens in the room.
"Uh…someone wanna tell me what's happening?" he questioned, tossing Dean the pills he had brought. Dean caught the pills and pushed himself from the chair he was in. Balthazar fell from his lap and into the hands of Crowley and Abaddon, but Castiel stuck his tiny claws into Dean's shirt and clung on tight. Dean marched over to the sink and grabbed a glass. He filled himself a glass of water to the brim and popped a handful of pills into his mouth before chugging the water down as fast as he could. Dean slammed the glass back down onto the counter and let out a breath.
"Much better," he panted. He reached for his shoulder and tore Castiel from his arm, holding the tiny kitten at arm's length. "This is your fault. I can sense it." The kitten turned his head to the side cutely and let out a small meow in answer. Dean sighed and tucked the kitten into his arms as he turned back to face his confused looking brother.
"The angels turned themselves into cats…apparently," Dean stated, nodding at the balls of fur in the kitchen.
"For how long?" Dean shrugged in answer and Sam turned on his heels, making for the door. "I better get you some more allergy medicine."
"What?! Hey, you can't leave!" Dean cried. "What the hell are we supposed to do?" Sam glanced over his shoulder at his brother and grinned.
"Make cute cat videos," he suggested with a large grin before disappearing out of the kitchen. Dean glared at the door and glanced over his shoulder, watching as Kali filmed the demons now shining the laser light around the kitchen and making kittens chase the light and knock over everything in sight. Dean flinched as several pots and pans fell to the floor and glared at the Siamese in his arms.
"You are so lucky you're cute," he grumbled, scratching under Cas' chin. Cas purred contently and turned onto his belly, tail swishing back and forth and the tip of his tongue poking out of his mouth lazily.
Thank you, Patty Hillard, for the request!
