Shaggy Winchesters
"Not these two again," Dean moaned against the wall he was pinned up against. One normal case was all that the hunter had asked for. He'd been suffering cabin fever for the past few days in the bunker and when a new case had popped up he grabbed Sam and dragged his brother to the Impala safely hidden in the bunker's garage. Turns out their easy, normal case was nonexistent. Their hunt wasn't the usual salt and burn Dean had hoped for. Nope, ghosts were not the culprits for the strange string of deaths over the past week. Witches were the cause this time and Dean Winchester hated witches. He especially hated witches that turned out to be a couple with marriage problems.
"What's going on this time?" Sam groaned against the floor, looking up at Maggie and Don Stark. In the past week five had died because of the couple. The brothers were starting to wish they'd just sent the couple tickets to a marriage counseling resort instead of showing up at the witches' home.
"Would you like to handle this?" Maggie questioned, looking expectantly at Don. Don glared at her and she glared right back. Don sighed and looked to the two hunters.
"Long-time-no-see, fellas," he stated.
"Yeah, yeah, what the hell are you two fighting about?" Dean grumbled. Don bit his lip.
"I want kids," Don revealed. He looked to Maggie. "And she doesn't."
"All these years and you never mentioned wanting a baby before. Why should we have one now?" Maggie huffed. "Not to mention what it'll do to my figure. You know how hard it is to look this good for over 800 years?" Don rolled his eyes.
"Like you still wouldn't look good, babe –"
"That's enough flattery from you," Maggie huffed, waving a hand at her husband. Don choked, blood dribbling from his lips. It only lasted a second though thanks to Sam's big mouth.
"That's what this is about? Kids? That's why people are dead?" he questioned. Maggie's concentration dropped off of her husband and Don let out a gasp for air as Maggie's hold on him dwindled. Maggie glared at Sam.
"They were councilors Don hired to talk me into wanting a baby. They were annoying so, yes, I killed them," she admitted. Her eyes darkened and she held her hand up. "And now I'm going to kill you two like I should've done ages ago!" She started chanting, but so did Don. Don shouted a spell as quick as he could before his wife could finish hers. Sam and Dean yelped as they're bones crunched and their skin burned. The two collapsed onto the floor and Don lowered the hand he had held out at them.
"Run!" he shouted. Dean and Sam struggled onto their feet and did just that. They dashed through the open door and into the street towards the Impala. Dean lifted a hand to grab the handle to the driver's door, freezing when a paw batted at his baby instead. Dean's eyes widened and he looked down at a puddle by his feet. A dog stared back at him. He turned his head to the side, not sure what to make of himself. He looked like a German Shepard mixed with something else. His fur was a soft mix of browns and reds, blended in with the white along his muzzle and the light black and grey outlining his face.
"You're a Carolina dog mix," Sammy stated, padding around from the other side of the Impala. Dean lifted his head and looked over at Sam, finding his kid brother was now a golden retriever.
"You should've been a ragdoll," Dean barked. Sam barked back, growling playfully.
"And you should've been a Chihuahua." Dean huffed and glared back at his baby. There was no way they could drive back home looking like a bunch of dogs. No, they'd have to walk all the way back home and hope Kevin or Bobby knew where to find a counter spell.
"Damn it," Dean growled. "Why'd he go turning us into dogs? He couldn't think of anything else?"
"Well, it worked," Sam stated. "Maggie was too stunned to finish her spell."
Dean huffed and started down the road, tail wagging back and forth.
Sam and Dean scratched at the bunker door and howled loudly in hopes that someone would open the damn door. They'd been walking for hours and their paws hurt like hell. Both could go for a juicy ham bone too.
The door creaked and the two backed up, sitting down and waiting silently. Kevin's tired face appeared behind the door along with six smaller faces.
"Puppies!" the angels and demons squealed, running over to Sam and Dean with open arms. Kevin yelped, grabbing the angels and demons and pulling them away from the dirty, stray dogs.
"What the hell, Kev?" Balthazar cried, wiggling in the prophets arms in attempt to get back to the two dogs sitting quietly at the door.
"If you think Custos will be jealous you're wrong," Castiel stated simply. "He likes new playmates. We can have Jody bring him over later and he can meet them…"
"Cas, he's not worried about Custos getting jealous," Gabriel explained.
"We don't know anything about these dogs," Kevin clarified. "They might have rabies or something." Cas frowned and looked back at the dogs. Both Carolina dog and retriever flopped over, showing off their bellies. Cas tilted his head to the side.
"I believe they look harmless."
Kevin sighed and let go of the angels and demons in his arms. The six hurried back over to Sam and Dean, rubbing their bellies and stroking their fur. Cas was petting Dean's neck when his fingers brushed back a few clumps of light brown fur. He frowned, seeing black outlines beneath the fur by the dog's chest. He pushed more of the hair back, eyes widening. "The puppy has Dean's tattoo!" he shouted. Everyone froze and looked at the visible skin. Kevin pushed the hair back on the retriever, finding the same mark.
"Sam? Dean?" Gabriel called. The dogs both barked, bobbing their heads. Gabriel blinked a few times as he processed the information and a small smirk played at the corners of his lips. "Well, I take it the hunt went well." Dean and Sam both growled and pushed up onto their feet. They grabbed at Kevin's pants leg with their teeth and pulled at him urgently. Kevin yelped, but let the dogs lead him back into the bunker and into the war room. Bobby was looking at the map table when they entered. A steaming cup of coffee was balanced in one hand while a donut sat in the other. He raised a brow at Kevin as he was dragged into the war room by two filthy dogs.
"Huh, pretty easy case, boys?" the hunter huffed teasingly at the dogs. Sam and Dean let go of Kevin and turned their heads towards the old hunter.
"You can tell it's them?" Kevin questioned. Bobby nodded and walked away from the table. He set his coffee somewhere and split his doughnut in two, tossing one to Sam and the other to Dean.
"I practically raised them," Bobby explained while Dean and Sam wolfed down their halves of the doughnut. "I'd recognize them anywhere." He patted Sam's head and walked into the Library. Dean and Sam followed him and Kevin trailed along with the angels and demons at his feet. Bobby walked over to a bookshelf on the south side of the library and pulled a few thick leathered spell books from the top shelf. He tossed them onto the table and nodded at Kevin. Kevin wrinkled his nose at the thick books, but grabbed one and took a seat. Bobby grabbed three large tomes and marched over to his own chair, taking a seat and looking through one with a green jacket. Sam and Dean watched them read for a second before looking to the angels, Crowley, and Abaddon. They licked at the little ones' faces and rolled onto their backs. The kids giggled and rubbed at Dean and Sam's bellies.
"Found something!" Kevin called suddenly, standing from his chair and rushing to Bobby's side. The old hunter took the book and skimmed the page Kevin pointed out to him.
"Sorry, boys," he said suddenly, looking up from the book and to the two dogs getting a belly rub. "It says here only the witch that cast the spell can fix you."
"Crap," Dean grumbled.
"What do we do now?" Balthazar questioned while petting behind Dean's ears.
"Go talk to the witches?" Castiel suggested. Sam and Dean gave the angel a look and he glared right back. "What else are we going to do?"
"He's right, Dean," Sam barked. "Don is our only chance. Maybe we'll find him when Maggie isn't around." Dean growled low in the back of his throat. He didn't like the idea of running into the witchy couple again, but Cas was right. There wasn't much else they could do.
Bobby stood between Sam and Dean on the front step of Don and Maggie's home. In Bobby's arms were Cas, Gabe, and Balthazar. Rachel had wanted to come too, but Benny didn't want his little girl getting turned into flee hotel and had talked her into staying home.
Cas, Gabriel, and Balthazar each took a turn at ringing the doorbell before Bobby swatted their hands away from the small button. Footsteps pounded from inside and everyone stiffened in anticipation. The door swung open and Maggie appeared on the other side.
"Crap," Dean gasped, backing up with Sam and quickly hiding behind one of the bushes in the yard. Maggie didn't notice the two dogs. Her eyes were instead on Bobby and the three angels in his arms. She let out an irritated sigh.
"Did Don send you?" she snapped, eyes blazing with anger. Bobby forced a confused smile at the witch.
"No ma'am." He tipped his head to her. "I'm Mr. Parker and I'm the head administrator for the Mystery Explorer Club. He looked to the angels in his arms and Gabe stretched out the smallest amount of grace to himself and his brothers before opening his coat. Under the heavy garment he was wearing a long sash with several buttons and pins. He also wore khaki shorts and a blue tunic. Castiel and Balthazar unzipped their coats too, revealing the same garments.
"Mystery Explorer Club?" she questioned. Bobby nodded.
"Yes, of course. We're a new club you see. We're just getting started. We try to get kids out in the wild and have them hunt down mysterious creatures."
"Like bigfoot!" Gabe said, smiling up and Maggie innocently. Maggie smiled back.
"And how can I help you?" she questioned, looking back to Bobby.
"We're asking for donations to help fund the club. If we get enough donations and people interested in it we'll be made official," Bobby explained. Maggie nodded and held her door open wider.
"Please come in. I'll write you a check." Bobby nodded and walked through the door, setting the angels down by his feet. The three scurried into the living room and plopped down on the floor while Bobby sat down on the couch with Maggie. The witch pulled out her check book and started filling it out. Bobby glanced around the room as she did, hoping to spot Don somewhere. The witch was nowhere to be found. Bobby sighed, glancing at the nearest window and finding Sam and Dean peaking in worriedly. The old hunter cleared his throat and looked back to Maggie. "Would you like any of your children to join? We're always looking for volunteers." Maggie stiffened.
"I don't have any children."
"Oh, I'm sorry, Ma'am."
"It's fine." Maggie ripped out the check she had made and handed it to Bobby. Bobby took it and folded it into his shirt pocket.
"Why not?" Castiel asked, tottering over and standing on his tip toes so his head just peaked over Maggie's knees. He tilted his head to the side and gave her the big blue stare that always melted its victims on the spot. Even though she was a witch the angel's spell worked like a charm. Maggie reached down and picked Castiel up. She played with his hair a little and let out a long sigh.
"My husband and I can barely hold our marriage together," Maggie explained. "How are we supposed to take care of a baby when we can't even take care of each other?" Bobby chuckled and Maggie frowned at them. "Something funny?"
"Sorry," Bobby apologized. "You just remind me of my boys," he explained. "The two of them have had it pretty tough, but then they became dads and…" Bobby just shook his head. "It's just weird. I've never seen them so happy."
"My husband and I aren't like your boys," Maggie reminded. "I don't even get why Don wants a baby. He's never mentioned it before."
"Ask him," Balthazar suggested. "It wouldn't hurt, would it?" Maggie bothered at her bottom lip.
"I guess not –"
"Maggie, I'm home!" Don called, walking into the living room. He froze on seeing Bobby and the angels. "We have guests?" he questioned. Maggie forced on a grin and set Cas back down on the floor. She stood and made her way to her husband.
"Don, this is Mr. Parker and his scouts. They're asking donations for a club they're trying to start." Don raised a brow, but didn't question his wife any further on the matter. Instead he smiled and turned to the group of strangers in his living room. If you're finished I can escort you to the door," he offered. Bobby gave him a thankful smile and stood. He held out his hand, taking Maggie's and shaking lightly.
"Thank you for your donation, Ma'am."
"No," Maggie said, shaking her head. "Thank you." She gave a small wave to the angels and the three waved back before following Bobby and Don to the front door. As soon as Bobby and the angels stepped over the threshold of the front door their act dropped. Gabriel released his spell and both Sam and Dean came out of hiding. Don smirked.
"I thought there was something off about you four," Don huffed. He snapped his fingers and both Dean and Sam transformed back into their normal selves in the blink of an eye. "There," the warlock sighed. "Sorry about that."
"Whatever, man," Dean sighed, running a hand through his hair and rolling his shoulders. Sam did the same before picking Gabriel up into his arms. Dean bent down, grabbing Balthazar and Castiel. When the two angels settled down in his arms Castiel turned his blue eyes on Don.
"Why do you want a baby?" he asked. Don's eyes widened and he licked his lips.
"Well, uh…" he sighed and glanced over his shoulder like he was worried Maggie was listening in. "I want something we can both love," Don revealed. "We argue and fight all the time, but maybe if we had a kid of our own together she'd…I don't know. Maybe she'd see that I really do love her and want nothing but a life with her and whatever life we build together."
"Why don't you tell her that?" Sam said. "Make her understand." Don huffed, the corner of his lip twitching upward.
"Yeah, well, that's easier said than done."
"No," Gabe huffed. He pointed behind Don. "She's in there, Donny Boy. You just have to grow a pair and face her." Don glared at Gabriel and Sam clamped a hand over the angel's mouth.
"Do whatever you want, Don, just do something," Sam sighed. "Thanks for helping us out." Don nodded and closed the door, sealing himself and his wife away from the Winchesters and their angels. Dean let out a sigh of relief and hurried away from the house and to the Impala.
"Let's get the hell out of here," he stated while buckling Cas and Balthazar in quickly and jumping behind the wheel of his baby. Sam and Bobby buckled Gabriel in next to Cas and Balthazar before grabbing their own seats. Dean turned the key and the engine roared with life. The group looked out their windows at the Stark's quiet house.
"Think they'll work it out?" Sam questioned.
Bobby shrugged. "That's up to them."
Thank you, Dragoncas, for the request!
