Joshua and Lydia's Nursery

Lydia and Joshua hurried around the garden now home to several tiny, feathered baby angels. God had requested every angel to be transformed into an infant so that they may have a second chance at living the life he had originally wished for them. Neither Lydia nor Joshua had been against the idea, but neither of them had realized at the time that instead of watching them himself God planned on Lydia and Joshua to be the wee angels' nannies. It wouldn't have been too bad if God had stopped at miniaturizing the angels, but God had decided to take it a whole step higher. He had Lydia miniaturize the Winchesters of all people. Angels Joshua and Lydia could deal with, but a tiny Sam and Dean? Now, that was asking for trouble. There was no arguing with God though and that was why Lydia and Joshua now ran around the garden in attempt to catch the naughty Winchester boys and their equally naughty angels.

"Dean, Castiel! You both come down from that tree this instant!" Lydia called up at the human and angel that had crawled up one of the giant willow tree growing near the garden's river. They were smirking at her from the tree branch they were both perched on.

"Make us!" Dean shouted. Lydia growled low in the back of her throat, powers thrumming beneath her skin.

"Why you little –"

"Lydia!" Joshua called from somewhere to Lydia's right. "Lydia, help me, will you?" Lydia turned her head, eyes falling on a wild spray of feathers and fists. Sam Winchester and Gabriel were tackling and rolling around in the dirt with Balthazar and Lucifer while little Samandriel cheered on the sidelines with white and pink pompoms. Joshua was trying to break the group up, but they kept rolling out of his reach.

Lydia looked away from the gang of angels and back up at Dean and Castiel.

"You boys come down, right now," she ordered. The two rebellious children didn't move a muscle and Lydia let out an annoyed growl before raising a hand to the two children. Light flashed and the two suddenly floated into the air and into her arms. The two stared up at her with their lips sticking out in a pout.

"That's cheating," Dean complained with crossed arms. Lydia ignored him and quickly rushed to join Joshua in the struggle to pull Sam and the angels off of each other.

"Gimme my lollipop back!" Balthazar shouted, grabbing his brother's feathers and yanking hard. Gabriel yelped and slammed his free wing at his brother in attempt to shake him off.

"You weren't eating it!" he shouted around the strawberry lollypop he was sucking on.

"It was in my mouth!"

"Well, then you should've ate it faster!"

Castiel and Dean giggled in Lydia's embrace and the two started to shout."Fight! Fight!" they cried, whistling and whooping at their brothers until most of the heavenly host got involved. Lydia groaned as a headache thrummed behind her eyes. She set Dean and Castiel down and looked around herself, searching for something that could distract the boys from their roughhousing. She found her savior sitting in a patch of flowers.

Metatron sat between a stack of books ranging from children's books to thick chapter books. Hannah, Ambriel, Anna, the twins, Abner, and Ezra were spread out next to him, looking over his shoulder at the pictures in the book he was reading.

The witch hurried over to Metatron and tapped the angel lightly on the shoulder. Metatron looked up at her with a curious look in his eye. Lydia smiled.

"Can you do me a favor, Sweetie?" Metatron nodded. "Can read out-loud so we can all hear the story?" Metatron nodded again and frowned at the words printed out on the paper.

"Does yous…like gween….eggs?" Metatron looked up at Lydia. The witch nodded encouragingly and waved at him to go on. Metatron took a deep breath and continued. "Does you like gween eggs and ham? I does not like them, Sam I Am. I does not like gween eggs and ham. Would you likes them here or theres…"

Lydia smirked to herself and turned to the fight. A handful of punches were thrown before Metatron's voice made it to their ears. They all paused, eyes skimming over to the angel. They listened and slowly crawled from the dirty patch of dirt they had been rolling in. The angels and humans crawled over to the patch of flowery grass Metatron was perched on. In less than a minute all fighting had stopped and everyone was peacefully sitting together. Metatron didn't even notice his new audience. He babbled to his siblings and the Winchesters as he flipped the pages of his copy of Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham. The children contently listened to him while sucking on their thumbs or playing with their wings or twirling their hair around their chubby fingers. Balthazar and Gabriel passed the lollipop they had been fighting over back and forth, taking turns with each lick.

"Thank goodness," Joshua gasped, collapsing down on a mushroom covered log. Lydia slumped down beside him and Joshua patted her on the shoulder in praise for distracting the children. Lydia grinned and leaned back, tipping her face up to the soft glow of the garden's warm light. She closed her eyes, letting herself drift away.

Lydia startled awake, finding herself in a rounded bed with white sheets and pillows. Joshua sat by her side in a silver chair with a book in hand. He smiled on noticing her awake.

"Welcome back," he greeted. Lydia slowly lowered herself back against her bed and pressed a hand to her aching forehead.

"What happened?" she questioned. Joshua's smile fell and he set his book to the side.

"You passed out after casting the de-aging spell out on the demons," Joshua explained. "You've been out for weeks." Lydia's eyes widened and she stared up at the ceiling, trying to remember what had happened. She remembered standing in heaven's garden with Joshua and muttering the spell God had taught her. There had been a flash of bright red and then nothing but odd dreams of miniaturized angels and hunters. Lydia pinched the bridge of her nose.

"What of the Winchesters and the demons?" she questioned. Joshua grinned.

"Everything is going to plan. The Winchesters have found the bunker and figured out the master computer. They will be alright."

"Let's hope so," Lydia huffed, throwing a hand over her eyes. "I'm not being nanny if they fail."

"Really? I don't think that would be too bad actually." Lydia raised a brow at the angel. Flashes of her dream burned at her mind.

"Trust me," she said while patting Joshua's shoulder. "It would."
