The Fast and the Feathered

Alex dug through her collection of DVDs. It was Friday movie night in the Mills' household and it was Alex' turn to choose the movie. Normally, she would just switch on Netflix and go with whatever popped out to her, but this wasn't a normal movie day. This was the first movie day she and the others were sharing with Vali. Alex felt for Vali. She understood what it felt like to be overwhelmed by the new found feeling of suddenly being in a family, especially the ever growing Winchester family. When she first became a part of it, Alex had been overwhelmed and judging by how Vali's hands shook from time to time around her and the others, Vali was going through something very similar. Alex wanted to help make him more comfortable and to do that she needed the perfect movie for them all to bond over. There was just one problem: she didn't know what movie to choose.

Over the years, Alex had quite the collection piled up in her room. Anime, cartoons, romantic comedies, and various action movies covered the shelves in her room. Yet, none of them popped out at her and screamed "pick me!" as she searched.

"Maybe I should ask Gabriel," Alex sighed as she tossed Pirates of the Caribbean to the side. She leaned back on her hands, staring over the movies for the hundredth time that night. Her eyes landed on a fallen movie that had managed to get kicked beneath her movie shelf. She frowned and reached for it, pulling it into the light. The Fast and the Furious.

"Alex?"

The teen looked up, startled to find Vali peaking hesitantly into her room. She smiled at him and waved him in.

Vali pushed the door in slowly and slowly made his way to her side. When he hesitated to sit down, Alex grabbed the sleeve of his hoodie and yanked him down so he was seated beside her.

"What's up V?"

"Uh…" Vali fiddled shakily with a stray string on his hoodie. "What are we watching?" Vali peaked at the DVD case in Alex's hand. "The Fast and the Furious? Is it good?"

"Is it good?" Alex gaped. "Man, where do I even start? There are undercover cops, really sweet cars, and the action is awesome…" Alex turned, meeting Vali's blue eyes. "But that's only a minor part of it."

"What's the major part then?"

"Friendship, but mainly family," Alex revealed. "Before I met Jody and the Winchesters I thought a family like the one in Fast and the Furious was just Hollywoodized mumbo jumbo."

"But?"

"But then Jody and the Winchesters came into my life and proved me wrong," Alex sighed, tapping the movie against her leg lightly. "I was pretty lost before then, but now…" Alex shrugged. "I'm happy."

They fell into silence then and Alex cleared her throat after a long moment. She pushed herself up to her feet and held out a hand for Vali. "Come on. Don't want the guys eating all the popcorn without us."

"Knowing Dad, they're already on the second bag," Vali joked lightly. Alex laughed and looped an arm around his shoulder, leading Vali out of her room and to the living room.

"There they are!" Kevin called as Alex and Vali walked into the living room.

"Hey, guys," Alex greeted. "Sorry it took so long." She broke away from Vali and walked up to the DVD player to pop her movie of choice in. Vali stole a seat by his dad and uncles, instantly getting covered by a blanket of gold, silver, black, and pink feathers.

"So what are we watching, Alex?" Jody questioned before shoving a handful of popcorn into her mouth.

"Oh, just the best movie serious ever," Alex announced, standing back from the DVD player and plopping down between Dean and Sam. Jody and the others gave her a curious look and the menu screen popped up across the TV.

"The Fast and the Furious?" Dean sputtered. He hid his face behind his hands. "Oh man, I can't watch."

Sam reached out, patting his brother's shoulder in mock comfort. "Aw, Dean, it's just a movie."

"A movie that wrecks perfectly good cars," Dean whined.

"You big baby," Alex teased before pressing play and starting up the movie. "It's not like the angels are going to try to reenact the movie with your baby."

Dean's eyes went wide and he gave the angels a terrified look. The four smirked at him evilly.

"Actually…" Gabriel hummed.

"Gabriel, touch my car and I will clean this house of all candy," Dean threatened and Gabriel held up his hands in defense.

"Whoa, Dean-O, no need for threats. I would never do anything to the Impala."

"Yeah, says the same angel who turned her pink a while back," Dean growled.

"Hey, I thought she looked pretty damn smexy—"

"Shh! Movie starting!" Lucifer hushed before smacking his brother with a pinkish-red wing. Gabriel let out a little cry, but shut up as the beginning movie credits ended and the movie began. The others mimicked his silence. The crunch of popcorn and the occasional whimper from Dean when a car was wrecked were the only sounds made by the content family. Alex didn't watch the movie much. All her attention was focused on Vali. She watched as his eyes grew wide in climatic areas and soft in heartfelt ones. She fiddled with her bracelet, wondering if she had made the right choice in picking the movie or not.

CRASH!

"I'm going to be sick," Dean moaned, practically folding into himself as he watched yet another car get smashed. Castiel slid from Vali's lap and climbed over to his hunter, crawling onto Dean's shoulders and folding his wings over his eyes. "Thanks, Cas," Dean moaned, still looking a little green even with Cas blocking his gaze from the TV.

"Boy, it's just a movie," Bobby huffed, eyeing the hunter carefully. No doubt contemplating grabbing a trash can for the green hunter to hurl into.

"It's real enough," Dean mumbled under his breath.

"We could make it realer," Balthazar teased, clicking his fingers together. The TV screen warped then and the cars on the screen morphed into the Impala, Bobby's truck and Jody's car. Dean peaked out from behind Cas' feathers to take a look at what everyone was gaping at.

"Oh hell no! Gabriel, change it back!"

"It wasn't me! Balthy did it!" Gabriel cried out, pointing at his smirking baby brother.

"Too bad this isn't the seventh movie," Balthy sighed. "I'd like to see how the Impala holds up falling from a plane."

"Hey, Balthy?"

"What?"

"You know what I had for lunch today?"

"Uh…no?"

"You're going to find out," the hunter threatened and Balthazar climbed behind Gabriel and Lucifer.

"Okay, okay, Winchester, I get the picture." Balthazar snapped his fingers and the cars morphed back to normal on the TV screen.

"We don't have to watch it if it makes you feel sick, Dean," Vali offered kindly, looking worriedly at the greening hunter.

"I'm fine, Vali," Dean lied. "It's a good show. It just…would be nice if they spent the movie breaking toy cars instead those beauties."

"Done," Castiel said, clicking his fingers this time. The TV warped again, but this time the cars did not turn into the Impala or any other cars owned by the Winchester household. They instead turned into life-sized plastic vehicles.

"Uh…thanks, Cas."

"You're welcome, Dean." The angel unfolded his wings from Dean's face, grinning widely to himself.

Alex shook her head at them and turned her attention back to the movie, watching as several plastic cars pulled up alongside a plastic semi-truck. "This movie night is a mess," she sighed.

"I like it," Vali commented, giving her a shy smile. Alex stared at him, looking deep into his eyes for the hidden lie. There was none. Vali was genuinely happy watching an angel edited version of Fast and the Furious with a sick hunter to his left.

Alex grinned. It looked like Vali's first movie night was a success after all.

Thanks, TB (guest), for requesting the guys watch The Fast and the Furious series.
