Dominion
"Wait- am I the evil angel?"
"Shouldn't it be Luci— "
"No way! My time has come!" Gabriel threw his hands up with glee. "I finally get a more stunning role."
"But Luci was— "
"Cas, it's fiction. Just go with it."
A laugh bubbled from Charlie's lips as she remembered the excitement on Gabriel's face and she momentarily forgot the tempting smell of warm chocolate floating throughout her kitchen. Charlie was in the kitchen of her home with a chocolate cake sat right in front of her nose. Half of it was covered in a light blue icing while the other side was still bare. Charlie still had to frost that side and then cover the entire cake in sugary candies. That is if she didn't eat the cake first. It was a surprise for her and Lila's anniversary though so she had to restrain herself no matter how good it smelt.
Luckily, she had the memories of her skype with the angels the other day to distract her. The angels were having a binge night and since Charlie couldn't make it over this time they booted up Sam's computer and got skype rolling so she could still join in. She had recommended Dominion for them to watch and the three had surprisingly fallen in love with the old Syfy show.
The phone rang just as Charlie managed to cover the rest of the cake in blue icing and the redhead sighed heavily before moving to the phone. She picked it up, expecting to hear Lila's voice or maybe the landlord's on the other end.
"Charlie!"
Ears throbbing, Charlie yanked away from the phone. "Balthazar?" She gaped. "What..." She hesitantly pressed her ear to the phone again. "Is everything okay?"
"It's canceled, Charlie! It's canceled!"
Charlie leaned heavily against the kitchen counter and frowned down at her blue cake. "What's canceled?" Her eyes widened. "Not our game night, dude! I've been waiting to show you guys Zelda for— "
"No, no!" Balthazar's voice was a jumble of frustration. "Like we'd cancel game night." The little angel took a deep breath, causing the phone to crackle a little. "You remember that angel show we watched a little last night? Dominion?"
"Oh."
Oh.
"We binged the rest of it this morning," Balthazar explained. "Sam looked up when the next season starts for it and-" The angel huffed. "There's nothing! They canceled it! Canceled it, Charlie! Why would you have us watch something like that when there's not going to be anymore?"
"Woah, Balthy, breathe," Charlie instructed. "I'm sorry, Dude. Honestly, I didn't expect you guys to love it so much since it's about angels and all that."
"Well, it's accuracy was a bit off but it was still good, Charlie!"
"Okay, okay!" Charlie rubbed at her ear. "You're gonna make me go deaf, Dude. There are petitions online you can sign if you wanna help try to save it but..." Charlie shook her head. "I doubt it's going to do any good. It's been a while. Though..." She shrugged. "Every little bit helps I guess."
"I'll ask Sam about it." Balthazar let out a little huff. "But now what, Charlie? We're dying here."
The redhead laughed. "Did you guys try going online? There's plenty of fanfiction that continues after the season I bet."
"Gabriel's hogging Sam's computer," Balthazar huffed. "He's reading all the angsty stories about himself."
Charlie snorted. "Of course he is." She thought back to the other night. Gabriel had been in love with his evil counterpart on the show. She didn't blame him. In most shows, movies, and books he was only a messenger- nothing really fun or exciting.
"Oh!"
"What?"
"I have an Idea." A giddy laugh fluttered through the phone to Charlie's ear. "I gotta go, Charlie. Talk to you later!"
"Uh— "
Click.
Charlie stared at the phone, brows creased as she listened to the tone hum. She debated calling Sam or Dean to warn them of Balthazar's idea. It hadn't been too long since Charlie stopped living with the angels and she still remembered what ideas usually turned into when the angels were involved.
She shook her head. "Nah." Charlie set the phone to the side and turned back to the cake. "Dean and Sam can handle it."
With the frosting finally on her cake, Charlie started to sprinkle some candies over the blue frosting. M&Ms, chocolate chips, and peanut butter cups nearly hid the blue frosting Charlie had spent all morning making but she didn't really care. As long as Lila's sweet tooth was happy so was she.
The phone rang again and Charlie snatched it up with frosting-covered fingers.
"Hello?"
"Charlie Bradbury, mind explaining why there are several full grown winged angels from a SyFy series in my house?"
Realization hit Charlie in the face and she smiled sheepishly down at her cake. "Hey, Bobby, about that— "
"One of them punched a hole in the wall with their wing!"
"Um...a picture frame should hide that okay, don't you think?"
"Charlie— "
"Huh, Bobby? I can't— " Charlie grabbed a roll of tinfoil from the cabinet next to her and started to crinkle it. "You— breaking up— can't— BYE!"
Charlie slammed her thumb over the call button and tossed the phone away. She leaned heavily against the counter, a laugh bubbling from her lips.
"Smooth," a voice behind her chuckled and Charlie's head snapped up to find Lila leaning against the kitchen doorway.
Shit.
"Ah! Lila, you're home early."
Lila smirked. "Yeah, well it's our anniversary and all so I asked to leave early." She stepped into the room and smiled down at the sugary cake Charlie had only just finished. "This looks great!"
"Uh— happy anniversary." A blush crept over Charlie's lips and Lila leaned in, giving her a gentle kiss on the cheek.
"Happy anniversary," she repeated and pulled out a bag stuffed to the brim with tissue paper from behind her back.
Charlie's eyes lit up and she took the present from her girlfriend. She set it down on the counter and pulled the tissue paper out of the bag like a child at Christmas. Inside the bag sat a long box and she popped it open to find a replica of the Sword of Gryffindor resting against soft velvet. The edges were sharp to the touch and red gems glittered in the light of the kitchen.
Lila chuckled as Charlie started to squeal in excitement. "You can use it to fend off the Winchesters," she teased. "Bobby didn't sound too happy on the phone— "
Charlie silenced her with a kiss. "Thanks, Lila, I love it." She kissed her again. "I love you."
"Love you too." Lila's eyes skimmed to Charlie's cake. "Can I eat my present now?"
Charlie laughed and handed her the cake knife. "Go for it."
Thanks to the guest who requested this chapter. If you haven't seen Dominion I recommend it. It's a fairly good angel show if you need something other than Supernatural to fuel your love for badass angels with family issues.
