Nostalgia
"He flirted with women long before I did anything."
Sam crossed his arms over his chest. His brother has always had a knack for making his blood boil. Sometimes Dean made fun of Sam's hair. Other times he kicked him out of their hotel room to fool around. Then, of course, there were times when he taught things to their angels he shouldn't.
"I was gone for an hour." Sam's frown grew. "And you corrupted our angel."
It had actually been an hour and a half that Sam and been gone but Dean, of course, didn't correct him on that one. He had already pushed his brother's buttons enough for one night. Still, his first statement was dead on. Gabriel was in no way their pure little angel. He never was and never would be.
A few girls from across the bar suddenly broke into a fit and both hunter's turned their attention to them.
Gabriel was sitting on a pretty brunette's lap while two other girls played with his chubby cheeks. The angel had always been a flirt and his body suddenly de-aging hadn't changed that.
"You're pretty," Gabriel told the brunette in a childish voice. When he smiled at her, a baby tooth was missing from his mouth. The little cheat was even using his mojo to make himself look cuter.
"He's a natural," Dean sighed and he let out a huff. "And here I thought I was the one who was gonna get the chicks." He waggled his eyebrow at his brother then. "Chicks dig guys with cute kids, you know."
If it were possible, steam would probably shoot from Sam's ears. His face had gone red and his left eye had started to twitch.
"Whatever," he sighed and he glanced around the bar. "Where're Cas and Balthazar?"
Dean's eyes widened suddenly and his head whipped around.
Panic sparked in Sam's chest as he watched. Thankfully, the panic was short lived as Dean's shoulders slumped and he relaxed.
"They're by the pool table," Dean said and he pointed off to the distance.
Sure enough, the angels were sitting on the bar's pool table, cheering on a couple guys as they played a round of pool.
"Correction..." Sam glared at his brother. "You corrupted all of our angels."
"I didn't corrupt anyone!" Dean yelled, throwing his hands up in exasperation. "They knew how to play pool, flirt and all that crap way before I brought them here." He slung an arm over his brother's shoulder then and poked him hard. "Admit it, you're just sad because your baby angels aren't your baby angels."
Sam huffed, a blush covering his cheeks.
Dean patted Sam's shoulders. "I know. I get it." He watched as Balthazar yanked Castiel out of the path of a flying cue ball. "Sometimes I forget they're not actually my kids too."
A sigh left Sam's lips. "I'm still mad at you," Sam huffed and he cast a glare in his brother's direction. "Real kids or not, they shouldn't be at a bar, Dean."
Green eyes rolled. "They're fine—"
"You know how Balthazar gets around alcohol—"
"Sammy," Dean met his brother's eyes. "You and I both know Balthazar hasn't touched that stuff in forever." He waved a hand at a bartender and a beer was slid his way. He held the bottle in the air then. "Balthy!" he called. "Want a taste?"
Balthazar glanced away from the game. His eyes flicked over the drink for a second before his shoulders rose and fell in a shrug. "Nah," he answered. "Not right now."
Dean set the beer down between himself and Sam. "See?" he said, a hint of smugness in his voice. "You're gonna go bald worrying over stuff you don't need to."
Sam sighed. "Okay. Fine. You win." He leaned back against the counter. "Benny took in three more demons," he said then, changing the subject off of their angels.
"Oh?" Dean raised a brow at his brother. "They got names?"
"Marcus, Rosco, and Jackson." Sam smirked. "Benny says he and Kali already found them homes."
A whistle left Dean's lips. "Damn. Those two are good." He grabbed the beer between him and Sam then and took a drink. "We better up our game. How many have we found?"
Sam tipped his head back, thinking it over. "Well, Crowley and Abaddon of course," he started. "There was that one time in Jersey...Oh! That one in Ohio—"
Dean pinched his brow. "That had been a headache," he moaned as the memory came back to him.
"I think we found a few in California too, right?"
"Three."
"That's right," Sam hummed and he shook his head. "I can't believe it."
"Believe what?" Dean tipped his head to the side and looked Sam over. "That we're being beaten by a vampire and a goddess? Me too."
Sam chuckled. "No, Dean." He nodded at Gabriel and then the two angels still watching pool. "Look how far we've come. Cas, Balthy, and Gabe are growing up— heck, it won't be long till they're back to their old sizes."
"Hey now. Cas' vessel was like in his thirties or something right?" Dean spoke up. "We're not even close to the teenage years yet so we're still far from that."
"Our family is growing, we have a house, we met God—"
"Damn," Dean huffed. "Who knew bringing the angels to a bar would make you so nostalgic." He nudged his brother. "Something up with you?"
Sam bit his lip and shook his head. "I just...never expected this, you know?" He met Dean's eye then. "Honestly, I thought we'd both be dead by now."
Dean raised his beer watching as the liquid sloshed around in the bottle. "Can't say I disagree," he sighed. "Chuck's plan is stupid and a pain in the ass but…" He smiled. "We wouldn't be here without it. We wouldn't have the family we do."
"Cas, Balthy, and Gabe wouldn't be as close."
"Yeah, they had a pretty rocky relationship back then, didn't they?" Dean hummed as he thought back to a time full of bloodshed and death. "We never would've found Vali either. Or taken out asshats like that deli killer guy."
"Andy?"
"Yeah that guy," Dean huffed. "Fuck him." Dean waved a hand at the bartender then and another beer was slid his way. He picked it up with his free hand and tossed it to Sam.
"What's this for?" Sam asked.
"Figured we should make a toast," he said. "To more years with our angels (and demons), baby or not."
Sam raised his beer.
"To the future."
"There was that one time in Jersey...Oh! That one in Ohio—" *sigh* Yes, I know. This is my sad attempt at getting away with not writing any baby demon chapters. I was originally going to do a lot of baby demon chapters but that's not really going to happen anymore I'm afraid. I can barely muster the motivation to write a regular chapter :P
