Paralyzed
Cas felt bad for his brother. He really did.
A few days ago, Dean and Sam had brought Cas, Balthazar, and Gabriel with them on a witch hunt in Wisconsin. They managed to kill the witch without much issue but even with the witch dead, her magic was still dangerous. While leaving the witch's home, Gabriel had bumped into a special plant that paralyzed him from the hip down. Bobby had tried to find an antidote for the spell but time was the only cure he found. Gabriel would have to wait for the spell to wear-off and in the meantime, he was stuck either being carried or flown around.
Dean walked towards the living room with a sleepy Gabriel in his arms. As he did, a spark of jealousy burned in Castiel's eyes. He remembered when Dean used to carry him everywhere back in the day. Dean hardly ever let him go and he still did so but now that Gabriel was hurt, Dean barely ever picked Cas up and carried him around.
"Dwean!"
The man in question stopped and looked down at the blue-eyed angel staring up at him. Cas' arms were up and open in a silent ask to be picked up.
Dean smiled down at Cas. "Just a second, Cas," he said and he started back towards the living room.
Cas watched him walk away, his wings bristling slightly against his back.
"Cas?"
The angel in question turned his head, his eyes falling on Bobby as the old man stepped up to him.
"You okay, angel?"
Castiel deflated and dropped his arms back to his sides. "Yeah," he lied. "Peachy."
Bobby didn't look convinced.
"Peachy, huh?" the old man huffed and he picked Castiel up from the floor. "Come here ya idjit."
Castiel squeaked as he was suddenly picked up but calmed down quickly once Bobby got him situated comfortably against his chest.
"You should just tell him," Bobby said as he started walking towards the living room.
Cas just huffed and buried his face against Bobby's shoulder. He knew the old hunter was right but he didn't want to be a brat. Gabriel was hurt and Dean was just trying to help.
Bobby carried Cas into the living room and plopped the little angel down on the couch where Gabriel was curled up. Dean was in the room too but was engrossed in a movie he was watching with Balthazar and Kevin.
As Bobby went to join the others, Cas let out a sigh and wrapped his wings around himself in an attempt to hide the discouragement he was still feeling.
"Cassie?"
A hand carded through Cas' feathers and the little angel peaked out from his wings. Gabriel was the one petting him and there was a spark of concern in the archangel's gaze.
"You okay, little brother?"
Castiel shrugged. "I don't know," he lied.
Gabriel tugged on a feather.
"Ow!"
"Talk to me."
Castiel yanked his wings out of Gabriel's reach and glared at his big brother. "I'm just..." He let out a breath. His body was shaking, coiled too tight with tension.
"Jealous?"
Castiel blinked at his brother, stunned.
"You're not really subtle about it." Gabriel reached out a hand and Castiel reluctantly took it. "I'm sorry, brother."
Castiel bit his lip and shook his head. "It's not your fault," he said. "I just...I miss the attention."
Gabriel nodded his head to where Dean and the others were seated. "Well?" he said. "Go get it then."
Castiel smiled at his brother, mouthing a silent "thank you" before leaping off the couch and rushing over to where Dean was sitting. He stared up at the hunter and opened his arms.
"Dwean!"
For the second time that morning, Dean looked down at the angel. He smiled and bent over, scooping Castiel up into his arms and cradling him against his chest.
Castiel sighed and closed his eyes, the tension leaving his body as Dean stroked his fingers through Cas' hair and wings. Finally, Cas was happy.
Thank you, ChibyL, for the request.
