Chapter 1 - A new foe

Paris, France

It was another day in Paris, and everyone was going about their day with their lives...which was immediately interrupted by a huge mechanical robotic dinosaur on a rampage. "RRRRRGH! I am MechaRex! King of the Robosaurs! I shall wreck all of Paris for my construction!" The huge robot roared as countless people ran for their lives, while most were gobbled up by the giant machine, a good amount of people managed to escape. Away from the machine's damage path however, Nadja Chamack, the TVi reporter and her cameraman were chasing the machine in secret, trying to get a good story on the situation.

"This is Nadja Chamack, reporting live in downtown Paris where a huge mechanical dinosaur is attacking. Many citizens have been asked to stay in their homes, meanwhile the police are doing all they can to stop this mechanical monster and..." Nadja started, pointing out to the police handling the situation, only for the mechanical dinosaur to ram past them. It almost seemed hopeless, until...behind Nadja from the rooftops, a figure in red zipped across, causing her and the cameraman to turn in surprise. The figure in red wasn't alone, following her were four other figures, one in black, one in red-orange, one in dark green and the last in yellow and black, like a bee.

Zooming in closer to the figures, the camera revealed to all of Paris, including everyone watching the news, that the five figures were actually Ladybug and Cat Noir, and they to take on a villain like the dinosaur, they had Rena Rouge, Carapace and Queen Bee for backup. "This just in, it looks like Ladybug and Cat Noir are on the job, and it looks like they've brought their allies, Rena Rogue, Carapace and Queen Bee to help them out. It's unknown how, but we can only assume that they'll be able to stop that mechanical dinosaur." The Reporteress said as she chased after the five Paris heroes.

All the while, Ladybug and the rest of the gang "So, what's this guy's deal Ladybug?" Carapace asked upon seeing the akumatized train machine. "Apparently this guy is called MechaRex, he said that he plans to renovate all of Paris and build his empire as the king of all robotic Dinosaurs. Pretty obvious and messed up I know, but that's what he said." Ladybug explained to her ally as the gang stopped at the edge of the next building.

Up ahead, they saw MechaRex attacking a museum and using the debris to create other scrap merged minions. "Wait...you mean, a robotic dinosaur?! That's like...pretty freaky." Queen Bee stated, shuddering at the thought. "As bad as it may seem Bee, we've still got a job to do. So M'lady, what's the plan?" Cat Noir asked, trying to flirt with Ladybug as usual, only to have her reject it as usual. "Well, he is similar to a Tyrannosaurus Rex, so if we trip him up we might be able to get the akuma, but it'll be a little difficult because he's a machine." Ladybug explained to the whole team.

"So how do we do this?" Rena Rouge asked before Ladybug looked around. She then spotted a crossing with a set of lampposts from a distance and then immediately came up with a plan. "Ok, we've gotta get as many people away from the villain as possible and try to destroy the akuma. It must be inside the machine, so we may need to work on finding it's location and destroying it without hurting anyone. Chat, I'll need you to get people as far away from here as possible. Rena, you'll need to distract that dinosaur as long as you can. Carapace, you'll need to defend those people trapped in the museum before MechaRex hurts them, and Queen Bee and I will make sure to attack the machine in all places to find the akuma." Ladybug explained as everyone nodded and did their jobs.

Cat Noir worked on getting the citizens to safety whilst Rena Rouge distracted planned on distracting MechaRex with her Mirage. As soon as Ladybug and Queen Bee began holding back the dinosaur villain however, MechaRex was immediately notified by his master. "MechaRex, there are your main targets. I want you to take Ladybug's and Cat Noir's Miraculouses, and while your at it...destroy the museum." Hawkmoth said to the mechanical Dinosaur firmly. "You betcha HawkMoth! Time to Renovate!" The mechanical villain spoke before smashing the whole museum with his wrecking ball tail.

Boy was it lucky that Carapace had gotten there just in time, otherwise a lot of people would've been smashed. "SHELTER!" The turtle hero yelled as he used his power to defend the people who were escaping. "Go! GO NOW BROS!" Carapace yelled as he allowed the people to escape. MechaRex then swung his tail at Carapace, sending him flying back and hitting a display case in the process. "Ok, that's how you wanna play it? Then let's do it!" The turtle hero yelled before running towards the mechanical Dinosaur. However, he failed to notice Mayura sneaking past him and into the museum to steal an artifact, a scorpion styled bracelet. "Perfect...looks like you've done my job for me, turtle." She spoke before laughing and running off.

All the while, the team were having a bit of trouble fighting MechaRex. "The machine's armor is like...too hard to destroy on the outside without hurting the people, so I'd better take him out on the inside!" Queen Bee said, coming up with her own plan while throwing her spinning top and catching it to activate her power. "VENOM!" She called before she prepared to charge towards MechaRex. At the same time, Ladybug's attention was drawn to her. "What?! No no, wait, wait a minute! BEE!" Ladybug yelled in shock, but it was too late, Queen Bee had ran towards MechaRex and jumped into his mouth while crying out in battle, thus being swallowed like all the other citizens.

Shocked by this, Cat Noir landed back beside Ladybug. "What the heck is she thinking?!" He yelled in shock. "She said she was going to take MechaRex on from the inside since the armor is too strong." Ladybug said, explaining the whole thing happen in front of her eyes. "Wait, that doesn't make any sense." Cat Noir said in confusion. "I tried telling her that!" Ladybug argued in shock. "The metal armor's the same is the same level of thoughness on the inside!" Cat Noir replied whilst explaining the problem. "I'm well aware of that, Kitty." Ladybug sighed in annoyance.

Inside MechaRex, Queen Bee had heroicly landed in front of the people that were swallowed by the villain, who happened to be a lot of students from Collège Françoise Dupont, and looked at them with a smirk. "Hang tight everybody, your faithful Superhero, Queen Bee is here to save the day!" Queen Bee said, reassuring the students despite them being annoyed before stinging the core where she assumed that the Akuma was...only for her power to falter. When nothing happened, she realised that she made a fool of herself in front of the students, including Sabrina Raincomprix, who happened to be one of the trapped students.

The situation was made worse when Queen Bee's miraculous began to beep, telling her that she had five minutes before she transformed back. "Ugh! This is Ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous! I should have thought this through!" Queen Bee groaned in annyoance, feeling like she messed up. Back outside however, the situation wasn't any better with the rest of the team. However, when trying to regroup with the others, Carapace spotted something off about MechaRex's left leg, a rusty joint that was struggling to keep him standing.

"Hey dudes! There's a weak spot on it's leg." Carapace said, pointing out the weakspot on the machine. "He's right. If we take that thing out, then he won't be able to properly stand up. So, how are we gonna do this, M'lady?" Cat Noir asked. Ladybug then got her yoyo out before using one of her powers. "LUCKY CHARM!" She said, flinging her yoyo into the air which constructed an object, this time it turned out to be a boomerang that was constructed from the magic.

"A boomerang?" Ladybug said in confusion. "Uh...have you been to Australia, M'lady?" Cat Noir asked, going off topic to the current situation. "What are we gonna use this for Ladybug?" Carapace asked as Ladybug looked around for how to use the boomerang against MechaRex. She then noticed the same lampposts from before, plus her yo-yo, Cat Noir, Rena Rouge and Carapace would be the perfect way to take down the mechanical Dinosaur.

"I've got an idea, but I'll need to let Carapace recharge his Miraculous." Ladybug said, only to be stopped by Rena Rouge who gained her attention. "Let me handle this Ladybug, I'll get him recharged and then we'll carry out the plan. But first...MIRAGE!" The fox spoke before she used her power to conjure an illusion of Ladybug and Cat Noir that gained the attention of MechaRex. "We'll recharge, you two do your stuff, the mirages will do the rest." Rena Rouge said before bringing Carapace into a nearby alleyway to recharge.

So Ladybug and Cat Noir got to work, tying the boomerang to Ladybug's yo-yo as MechaRex chased the mirages in cricles. Ladybug then threw the boomerang which tied around the two lampposts while Cat Noir told people to get away from the area. Rena Rouge and Carapace meanwhile had recharged their miraculouses and were prepared to face MechaRex. As the mirages disintegrated, MechaRex discovered this and roared in anger before charging at the four heroes down the street. "That's it MechaRex, charge at them, and take their Miraculouses!" Hawkmoth ordered, making the mechanical dinosaur charge and to crash through several buildings in fury.

Suddenly, a few pieces of debris flew from the buildings he smashed through, which Ladybug and Cat Noir avoided, however the debris also knocked off Carapace's shield and pinned Rena Rouge to the ground, causing her to yelp in pain. Carapace took notice to this despite MechaRex closing in dangerously. "Just Go Carapace! I'll be fine!" Rena insisted, lying to herself than to Carapace. But out of his better judgement, the turtle hero went back to help his fox ally without his shield and tried lifting the debris, but couldn't free Rena from it.

"Rena, Carapace what are you doing?! Get out of there!" Cat Noir yelled in shock, but it was too late, MechaRex tripped over the yoyo's and fell to the ground, shattering the pavement as he crashed through the damage path and nearing the two heroes in front. In a panicked attempt, Cat Noir threw Carapace's shield as the turtle, who then got beside his ally and prepared to endure the pain. MechaRex then smashed through the two buildings either side of him, causing a lot of debris to fall on top of the duo. "Oh no!" Ladybug screamed in horror as she saw the whole thing happen. Cat Noir was horrified like her, and mainly worried about the safety of their two allies.

"Carapace! Rena! Are you guys ok?!" Ladybug asked with a fright, there was no answer at first, causing her to think that they were down for the count...but the next moment however when she began to tear up...she heard a voice that emerged from the debris. "Relax Ladybug, we're a-ok." Carapace said as he came into view from the top of the debris as he helped Rena Rouge onto the top of the debris, thus showing Ladybug that they were ok. "Oh thank goodness, I thought you guys were done for." Ladybug said with relief as she swung down and hugged Rena Rouge. "Woah, take it easy. I'm not hurt, I'm fine Ladybug." Rena said, comforting her ally in the process.

"Thanks Chat, I owe you one man." Carapace said gratefully as he fist bumped Cat Noir for throwing him his shield. "No problem. But try to be a bit more careful next time, it could get way more worse than this in the future." The cat spoke with a smile. "Worse? How worse?" Rena Rouge asked after being released from the hug. At that moment, MechaRex rose from the debris and boy did he look pretty angry. "Grr! That tears it! If I fall, then you fall with me!" He roared, preparing to destroy the four heroes with his giant claws. "That worse, perhaps?" Ladybug then pointed out sheepishly. "Oh no you don't!" Cat Noir spoke.

MechaRex was about to attack until Cat Noir jumped in front of the mechanical dinosaur. "CATACLYSM!" He yelled before summoning his power and using it on the robotic dinosaur. Having Jumped and aiming for the head, Cat Noir quickly destroyed the MechaRex's head, thus disintegrating him instantaniously and releasing the people who were trapped inside, including Queen Bee. Upon seeing the light again, Bee did a little victory dance for herself. "YES! I have single handedly destroyed the akuma!" Bee said happily, caliming she had done it, but not impressing anyone else. Even the rest of her team were annoyed. "Ok, I didn't think this through." Bee then sheepishly admitted.

It was also lucky that MechaRex's pilot wasn't hurt by the cataclysm and was safely lifted out by Rena Rouge and Ladybug once he was reversed of his corruption. "Ow...what the heck happened? One minute I was furious for not bein' able to demolish that school...and the next...well, I ended up here." He said, revealing to be a digger from the construction sight. "Don't worry sir. Everything's under control now." Rena Rouge said reassuringly before helping him and the students out of the debris. "MIRACULOUS LADYBUG!" Ladybug then yelled, throwing the boomerang into the air and triggering her other main power, thus using the pink energy to restore the damage, especially to the builder's digger.

"Don't do that again, Bee. We're supposed to work as a team, and what you did wasn't an example of how a team should work." Ladybug said firmly to Queen Bee, who looked away in both annoyance but sheepishness as well. Before Queen Bee was able to say anything however, the akuma appeared from the digger's shovel and began flying away. Ladybug noticed this before getting out her yoyo and opening it. "Well, no more evildoing or you little Akuma. Time to De-Evilize!" Ladybug said before throwing her yo-yo at the akuma to capture it. But suddenly, something sliced through Ladybug's tool, causing it to miss and fall to the ground much to Ladybug's shock.

"What?! But...this is impossible. My Yo-yo should have been able to catch the akuma without any problems!" Ladybug said in disbelief as the Akuma flew away. Not one to let the same mistake happen twice from her first time, Ladybug then grabbed her broken yo-yo and ran off to get the Akuma along with the others. "C'mon, we've gotta get the akuma before it multiplies." She said firmly. "How come this is bad?" Rena Rouge then asked in concern. "The akuma multiplies. The last time I didn't catch it, multiple versions of Stoneheart were all around paris." Ladybug explained, shocking her ally. "Come on this way!" Cat Noir said, giving Carapace a boost with his staff.

Whilst following her allies, Queen Bee suddenly spotted a shadow figure in the distance. This figure looked like some kind of martial arts warrior with a pair of kunai knives on strings. The figure also wore what looked to be a bracelet with a scorpion on it. The figure also had a few scorpion-like warriors at their command too, even a giant scorpion-like beast. "Hey, you guys...? There's..." She began, trying to gain the group's attention only to turn back and see that the figure and their minions had vanished from the rooftops. "See what, Bee?" Cat Noir asked in confusion, looking to where Queen Bee was looking.

"I could have sworn that I saw someone who had knives and some kind of scorpion bracelet, there were also scorpion kind of warriors and I'd say more about them...but nevermind, they're gone anyway." Queen Bee explained sheepishly. Cat Noir seemed surprised upon hearing what Queen Bee saw, sure her alter ego was a bully, but something told him this was different. "Hmm...Were there other Miraculous holders besides Hawkmoth?" Queen Bee asked in confusion, but never got the answer when Ladybug called her. "Excuse me. Catch the Akuma now, get distracted later perhaps?!" She asked in annoyance, having revealed to have been looking at them.

Without hesitation, the five heroes rushed after the akuma, trying to make sure it didn't multiply on them without any warning. In fact, Ladybug wasn't about to make that same mistake twice herself. But while they had their problems, back at the museum after it's restoration, the seccurity guards had immediately discovered that one of the relics from the past was missing from it's display case. One of the guards immediately got the curator and showed him what had happened, thus making him shocked and knew it had to be found immediately.

Back at Hawk Moth's lair

"Another day, another failure for my akumas. But no matter, because at least the Scorpion Miraculous has found it's rightful owner. All has gone exactly according to plan at last." Hawkmoth spoke, gloating over the success of the item being stolen from the museum as his window closed.

A couple of hours later

Outside Master Fu's Massage Shop

Cat Noir and the rest of the team waited outside, having had their Miraculouses taken after the job was done, much to Queen Bee's annoyance for the third time. All the while inside the shop, Ladybug, or rather her true identity, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, had gone inside to return the three Miraculouses she had gotten from the miracle box and to also get her yo-yo fixed by Master Fu, the original holder of the Turtle Miraculous. "I still don't understand how this could have happened. Your yo-yo should have been able to catch any akuma without any problems." He said, finishing up on fixing the yoyo and returning it to Tikki.

"I'm just as confused myself. It took us ages to catch the akuma with the string cut, even though we did catch it in the end. I've used it for a while now and not once did that ever happen to me." Marinette admitted, both shocked about this happening and relieved that the yo-yo was fixed. "Hmm...this is very strange indeed. Well, the string should be stronger this time, so the rope won't get sliced through again, but be sure nothing else like this happens to you either." Master Fu said as he explained the modifications that were done to the yo-yo.

Hearing the words from Master Fu, Tikki, the Kwami of Creation, then appeared before Marinette spoke. "We promise. It's only happened the one time, so we'll be more prepared for the next time." She said with optimism. "Hmm...speaking of which, I wonder how this did happen? It couldn't happen unless someone sliced through the strings with a sword or a knife." Master Fu then wondered, even making Marinette thin about that too. "Hmm, come to think of it, Chloe did mention about seeing someone with knives with their own miraculous. Maybe that could've been it?" She then said, mentioning what Chloe claimed she had seen before.

"Oh? What kind of Miraculous did Chloe claim she saw?" Master Fu then asked, feeling like this was something he'd need to know after seeing all of the other Miraculouses that he had. "Chloe described that miraculous as a bracelet baring a scorpion on it. But that's the only thing I heard about it." Marinette explained trying her best to describe what the miraculous looked like. Hearing the word scorpion, Master Fu's eyes widened with shock, almost like he had known what she was talking about. "The scorpion...no, it can't be..." He muttered to himself in horror.

"Anyway, I should also give back the three Miraculouses, especially since-" Marinette began as she got out the three miraculouses from her bag, only to be stopped by Master Fu immediately. "Wait!" He immediately said, holding up his hand and stopping Marinette from continuing. "Huh? What's wrong?" She asked in concern before she was given the reason. "You may need to keep those three Miraculouses for a while longer. You many need all the help you can get if something bad happens." Master Fu explained with concern, feeling like the two miraculouses wouldn't be safe in his shop for a while. "Oh, ok. In that case I'll tell he others. Thank you." She spoke before exiting the store.

All the while, Master Fu was relieved that Marinette had made the right decision in keeping the three Miraculouses for a little while longer. "Good...because with the Miraculous of Greed involved, who knows what will happen?" He said to himself, glancing at the Miracle box, not noticing the figure outside the window looking in at him and where the miracle box was.

Outside the shop

Cat Noir and the others saw Ladybug exiting the shop, looking confused when they saw that she still had the Fox, Bee and Turtle Miraculouses still in her hand. "What happened in there? Was they guy not in?" Cat Noir asked, feeling a little confused. "He said I could hold onto these for a little while longer, so...I suppose that means you guys can hold onto them for now." Ladybug explained with a shrug, unsure if this was right, but decided that she might need more help in the future. "Wait, are you actually being serious right now?" Alya then asked with surprise after hearing that she was able to keep her Miraculous for a while longer.

"Yes...I am. Anyway, keep these hidden at all times, and don't tell anyone who you are." Ladybug then said, explaining to the trio to keep their Miraculouses safe from everyone for their safety. "Understood, Ladybug." Nino then said with a nod as he was given back the Turtle Miraculous and Alya given back the Fox Miraculous. "Trixx, Let's Pounce!" Alya then said before transforming into Rena Rouge. "Wayzz, Shell On!" Nino then said, transforming into Carapace immediately. "C'mon Carapace, I'll give you a ride back to school." Rena said, walking over to her sidekick before rushing off with him.

Before Chloe had the chance to transform into Queen Bee however, Ladybug got her attention. "I know that I said that I might never let you become Queen Bee again because of Hawk Moth knows your identity...but I suppose fate has other plans for you and you did work so hard. So please, for the sake of Paris and your family...use it wisely, for me?" The heroine said, wanting Chloe to use her Miraculous wisely. "Ok, I promise. Anyway, Pollen, Buzz on!" Chloe said, promising Ladybug as she transformed into Queen Bee and rushed off. "I'll forever be in your debt, Ladybug!" She called back after swinging off.

"Alone at last, m'lady." Cat Noir the said, flirting as usual with his lady, only to be turned down by her yet again as usual. "And alone is correct. There are things that I need to sort out, bye." Ladybug said before she too left. Cat Noir tried to say something quickly, but never got the chance before Ladybug left. "Bye then..." He said before rushing off himself, knowing that he too had things to do. "I wonder if I'll ever find out who you are, Ladybug?" He thought in his head as he rushed along the rooftops of Paris.

Back at Hawk Moth's hideout

After a while, Hawk Moth heard footsteps approaching him. "I take it our guest got what they were after…?" Hawk Moth spoke as he turned to face Mayura, who was currently approaching her superior along with another figure in the shadows. "Indeed, it wasn't easy, but the job was done all the same. In fact, you could say she was eager to meet you in person herself." Mayura pointed out with a nod before revealing the figure. This figure wore a dark brown martial arts outfit with fingerless gauntlets, a bronze mask to conceal her face, bronze metallic boots, a pair of kauai knives on her belt, and a black and bronze bracelet resembling a scorpion resting upon it.

"So…it's true. And I take it that you're the descendent of Scorpius?" Hawkmoth spoke, impressed to see the villainess as she bowed in front of him. "Indeed. You may call me, Scorpina. The warrior of Greed." The warrior spoke, sounding very dark and creepy as she rose to Hawk Moth's height. "So I see. You'll be a key role in helping us take the Miraculouses of Ladybug and Cat Noir. Your powers shall be their downfall." Hawkmoth spoke, filled with pride on his newfound plan. "And of course, you'll also be needing an ally too." Mayura then said, plucking a feather from her fan and blowing it towards Mayura.

The feather touched one of her kauai knives before Mayura spoke to the new ally. "Scorpina, I am Mayura. Hearing this from Mayura's mask, Scorpina smirked devilishly. "Pleasure doing business with you, Mayura." She spoke before a huge flying scorpion-like monster emerged, shrieking fiercely.

"Now then, with everything sorted out, I take it you know your task?" Hawkmoth asked Scorpina rhetorically. "Indeed. These so-called heroes put aside their desires to protect Paris from you, well by the time the Scorpio Constellation passes, and once I'm through with them…their desires will be their undoing." Scorpina claimed with pride before hopping on her sentimonster and flying away. "Excellent, this should destroy those five heroes, and finally I will claim the ladybug and cat miraculouses!" Hawk Moth spoke, grinning evilly before his window closed shut all together.

That night...

Scorpina met a lone figure within an alleyway before making sure nobody was around and spoke to them. "Did you manage to find the place?" She asked, looking at the person in the shadow. "Wasn't easy, but I found it in the end. I took one of those things from the box you mentioned and I didn't have any problems with the old man you told me about." He said to Scorpina, holding out a collar necklace with two dog heads on both ends. "Heh...I figured Fu would've fell asleep sooner or later." Scorpina said with a smirk.

"True, but...is there any reason why you wanted me to steal this necklace? Why didn't you want me to take the whole box?" Upon hearing her ally speak, Scorpina turned towards him. "He would've immediately noticed something would be wrong, so one Miraculous from that box should suffice for now." She said in a calm manner. "Well either way, I've done my end of the bargain, can you fulfil your end please?" The person then asked, almost sounding like he was pleading. "Ah, but of course it's my turn, just as I promised you. So tell me, my boy...what is the one thing you wish for the most." Scorpina then asked, interested to hear her ally's desire.

The boy whispered his desire into Scorpina's ear and upon hearing it, the scorpion themed villainess then snapped her fingers, thus inducing a glow around the boy's body and even lighting up the alleyway in the process too.

Back home that night

Ladybug swung onto her home roof before landing on her railing and getting down. She had a hard day of trying to search for that miraculous wielder that Chloe was talking about, but had no luck so far and decided to call it a day. "Hmm...Scorpion Miraculous? What could Chloe have meant by that?" Ladybug Thought to herself. It was all confusing, but she had more important things to think about than some newfound miraculous for now.

She then walked over to her room hatch where she snuck in, hoping not to alert her parents as she quietly closed the hatch again. "Spots off." Ladybug whispered to herself before de-transforming into Marinette. Sighing with relief, Marinette then got down from her bed and quietly began to walk over to her computer to do some work with Tikki slowly following her...or at least she would have. However, the moment she turned around towards her computer, she saw Alya looking at both Marinette and her Kwami in both shock and amazement.

In the process, Alya dropped her phone which didn't take damage, Tikki squeaked in shock, and Marinette...boy she was freaking out, especially when her eye twitched rapidly, thus she couldn't speak after the truth was revealed to her friend who stood up. "Marinette, are you ok? What's going on up there?" Marinette's mother called up to her before her daughter spoke up frantically. "Uh...nothing! Nothing at all mom! Everythingisjustfineandnothingbadishappeninguphere!" Marinette called down to her mother before turning back to Alya, just as Trixx appeared. "No way...you're...you're Ladybug!" Alya spoke with amazement, and boy was it shocking.
