Shelter Block Jagh, Southwest Refugee Corner, Trost. Sean, with his skills as a titan-hunter, managed to earn some money retrieving food and supplies from nearby destroyed villages just outside of wall Rose. Eventually, he earned enough money to get himself, Eren and Mikasa a private room, separate from the others who simply had to share living space in the small designated area the government called a Shelter. The room itself isn't very big, mind you. It was only 10m by 5m and was designed for only 1 person in mind. It wasn't even meant to be a living quarter, just an office.
The living arrangement costs 6 pieces of Gold per month and that was a lot, considering most people only really earned 60 – 80 pieces of silver per month. However, as supplies, such as food and medicine were rare, it allowed for Sean to earn upwards of 20 Gold per Barrel of food that he brings to the Office. Once, he even found 3 hens, that and the subtle implication that eggs could be easily be obtained from the hens, which earned him exactly 45 Gold pieces and 33 Silver pieces per Chicken. Knowing that, he deposited the money to Mikasa, as she was clearly the best choice for safe keeping the money.
A week after having improved living conditions, Sean had finally decided on something. He was going outside the walls again, but this time, to train. He had told his idea to the other two of his adoptive family and was, as expected, bombarded with the pleading cries to not leave them. Granted, it was Eren who was most Vocal about it, whereas Mikasa was more of a subtle death grip. After some convincing and somewhat bribery of a more comfortable life, they agreed to part ways peacefully, and after taking just 10 Gold pieces for himself, Sean set out once more to train amongst the titans.
Line Break
2 years after the fall of Wall Maria, Training Corps Compound, Trost. Instructor Shadis Keith, former Leader of the Survey Corps stared at his flask, 1 year ago, he snuck in the survey corps ranks, to get a chance to see the world outside again. He met a boy outside the walls. He wore a uniform akin to that of the Garrison members wore, yet he had a patch very much different to that. His clothes appeared rough, as though he hadn't had it washed or repaired in a long time.
Flashback
"Forward Team pull left! Vanguard, on me!" Commander Erwin Smith yelled as he watched a Medium-sized titan chase the group. Merely 5 minutes earlier, the rear team sent out a red flare, signalling the approach of a titan. That rear team was quickly decimated by the aforementioned titan. "That must be an abnormal type, they don't normally chase us, not when we're going this fast."
The designated Vanguard team pulled into a tight diamond formation around Erwin. They were travelling at approximately 50km/h, which is fast for a horse. Yet that titan still seems rather fixated at its target. They were nearing a forested area, thankfully, and could use the trees as cover as well as hook oints for their ODMG.
Just as they passed the second tree, they looked up as a large shadow was casted over the group. The Abnormal had jumped, leaping over the vanguard and looked dangerously close to Erwin. Erwin then noticed that one of the new recruits had jumped off his horse, hooked into one of the trees and rushed at full tilt at the titan. A sickening yet satisfying sound was heard as the nape of the titan was sliced off by the man. The titan fell with a crash and almost instantly started evaporating. The recruit landed on the titan and jumped just in time to remount on his horse.
Erwin stared a little before nooding his thanks towards the reruit. Just as they were about to leave the forest and revert to their original direction, another titan came down, this time headed for the recruit. The recruit, in shock, simply sat on his horse awaiting certain death, hoping it would be quick.
Yet again, the sound of the titan's nape being sliced was heard. However, this time, it wasn't one of the survey corps. No, it was actually a boy, more specifically a boy in what appeared to be in a Garrison Uniform. The boy, wearing the Uniform also had a set of ODMG, as well as multiple extraneous gas tanks. What was peculiar, however, was that the boy had a set of old Asian blades incorrectly labled as a Katana. They were in-fact an even older type of blade known as the Tachi. It seemed like the boy was using these blades instead of the standard razor blades that was used for the regular ODMG. He also appeared have somehow connected these blades to the ODMG itself.
The boy, having killed the titan, landed on a low hanging branch above the soldiers of the survey corps. He looked at Erwin, as if anticipating something.
"Thank you for the help, boy, but I must ask, who are you and what are you doing so far away from the walls?" Erwin questioned
The boy raised one of his eyebrows and replied. "I believe it is considered polite to introduce yourself first before asking questions, is it not?"
Clearly taken aback that the boy would actually say something, he quickly rubbed his hands in nervousness. "I'm sorry, I am Commander Erwin Smith, of the Survey Corps."
Nodding, the boy introduces himself. "I am Sean, Sean Jeager, former resident of Shiganshina, and a Member of the Garrison Militia. As to why I'm here, I am training."
"Pardon? Training? Out here in the middle of titan infested territory?" Someone round the back asks.
"Yes, training. What? How do you expect me to train otherwise? Training dummies just doesn't work out for me you know? They get really dull after a while, and they need someone to operate."
"Well, that's true, but still…"
"Ah don't worry your blond head about it Commander, I know what I'm doing." Sean says as he laughs. He then proceeds to wipe the blood off the blades of his weapons.
"Anywho, it was nice talking to someone after a year out here, good luck with your journey, Survey Corps!" Sean yelled as he hooked to other trees and whisked away.
The soldiers of the Survey Corps looked at each other, then at Erwin. He sighed and motioned for them to continue their journey.
End Flashback
He had been hoping the boy would show up, he seemed like someone who would've been a great asset for the Scouting Corps. Instead, he got someone else with a similar name. Eren Jeager, and his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman. Only the girl showed any promise, although the boy did show extreme determination. He sighed, only time will tell how well this will go.
