Hoytsman snorted drug after drug in celebration, the annoying fly who'd ruined his life was dead or close to death.
The man's high instantly increases at the loud knock on his window, he had a customer! Quickly jumping to his feet, Geoffrey decides to make one last jibe at the trapped cop.
"Keep quiet, Peralta, I really need this sale." Hoytsman happily skirts his way over to the window, sliding the glass "Well, hello!"
The man is grabbed by his shirt and pulled out said window, Hoytsman landing painfully on the ground "Careful, I'm someone's little boy!"
"Geoffrey Hoytsman, you're under arrest" declared Amy Santiago, her partner Rosa Diaz nodding before heading inside the truck "Jake?"
Amy reads his rights and cuffs Hoytsman just as more squad cars pull up, Terry Jeffords, Raymond Holt and Charles Boyle now on the scene.
Charles wastes no time heading into the truck, Rosa hunched over a lone chair " Where's Jake?"
"Don't know, but he was here" Answers the Latina, Jake's phone now in hand "Hoytsman must have moved him"
Charles frantically looks around, he and Jake were best friends, due to this connection he knew Jake was still in this truck "No, he's here"
Rosa stares, but even she couldn't challenge the for sure look on Boyle's face "Fine, where?"
Charles moves in front of the chair, imagining his friend tied to it, he had to play the role of Geoffrey to find Jake. "I've been sabotaging Jake for days, tracking his every move."
"Finally get my opportunity to kidnap him and I jump on it, I use the only thing I've got." Fills in Rosa
Charles nods "The ice cream truck ... We're missing something!"
Rosa catches sight of the red flashing camera light "I bet this can tell us everything we need."
Charles moves in close as Rosa re-winds the tape, what they saw made their blood run cold "Oh my god!"
Boyle rushes towards the padlocked freezer "Jake! We're here buddy, Charles is here to save you!"
"Out of the way, Boyle!" Screams Terry, the large man tearing the lock in two, flipping open the lid.
Jake's skin was grey, lips purplish blue, fists frozen in the air and eyes closed, they're friend and comrade looked to be a frozen pop cycle
"We need a medic, now!" Terry's fingers roam Jake's neck, wincing due to the cold "He's not breathing, but there's a pulse"
"The medics are taking too long, let me" expresses Boyle "I took a class on resuscitation"
Terry tentatively lifts Jake out of the freezer, laying the small headed man down "I don't know, Boyle. Better to let a professional handle this."
Boyle steps forward "Jake isn't going to last that long in his condition, I won't stand around while my best friend dies, I will save Jake."
A few precious seconds pass as Terry contemplates, finally the man gently and carefully pried Jake's jaw open "Just tell me when to give him air."
"On three, one. Two. Three!" At once Charles is giving chest compressions and Terry giving what little bits of air he could into Jake's system while watching his pulse.
Amy, Rosa and Holt watch as the pair fight to bring Jake back, Amy couldn't help but blame herself.
"This is all my fault, if I had just believed Jake, then-" The last thing anyone ever expected to happen, ceased Amy's cries.
Rosa held the young detective tightly in her arms, she felt just as bad "The only one to blame is Hoytsman and he's going to get what's coming to him."
Amy shakes her head "Geoffrey never would have taken Jake had I not kicked him out of the car, I should have drove him home, I should have believed he was telling the truth!"
Rosa clutches the brunette, tears building up in her eyes, the strong facade she'd perfected over the years was breaking, no words would come to her on consoling Amy.
Raymond took in the scene, two detectives grasping desperately onto each other, while two others continued to fight a seemingly losing battle.
This was his squad, his team and part of his and Kevin's family ... And he'd failed them.
As Captain, it's his job to stand up for his agents, he knew Jake wasn't doing drugs, yet he'd suspended Peralta regardless, unknowingly leading the young man directly into Hoytsman's clutches.
Santiago and Diaz blamed themselves for his blunder, Jeffords and Boyle doing everything in their power to keep Jake alive, but what was he doing? Standing around, that's what.
Holt hunkers down next to Boyle and Terry, lifting Peralta's head into his lap "Try it now"
Boyle never stops his compressions, wary enough to not break Jake's ribs, Terry gave Jake breath while Holt held his head, fingers lightly massaging his throat.
"Please come back, Jake!" Cries Amy "I'm sorry we doubted you! You were right! Is that what you want to hear? You, Jacob Peralta was right! I, Amy Santiago was wrong!"
Suddenly, Jake's body racks with painful coughs, the man turning on his side in an effort to breath better, Boyle patting at his back.
"That's it, Jake! Keep breathing for me, ok? You're doing great." Praised a beyond relieved Boyle
Terry rubbing soothing circles down Jake's arms, warming up the appendages in the process "Thank god, thank you god!"
"He's in a moderate stage of hypothermia" states Holt "We're lucky there's no freezer burns, Peralta wasn't in there long enough to sustain such an injury."
"So, Jake's ok?" Questions Boyle in unknown fear "He's going to live!"
Holt nods "With proper treatment of rewarming yes, Peralta needs to get his clothes changed and moved to a warmer environment"
"Rewarming? Got it!" Jumps Amy, the brunette running back towards the car, two water bottles in hand "These have been inside the car all day, the warmest items we've got."
"They'll have to do" declares Terry, the man lifting Jake against his body "Come on, tiny head"
Jake deliriously lays his head on Terry's shoulder, everything around him was a blur, he could hear talking, but not quite understand what was being said.
The cop jumps at the sudden warmth now radiating from underneath his arms, he wasn't tied up anymore? Right ... He got free inside the freezer.
The tugging of his clothes barely registered, all Jake could focus on was the heat, it hurt but at the same time, felt like heaven.
"Here, use these." Speaks Holt, a pair of pajamas in hand from the car "Kevin and I keep extra pairs of pjs just in case of an emergency, this is a emergency."
Amy and Rosa look away as Charles and Terry re-dress Jake, the young man now sporting a pair of dark blue, dotted comforters.
"Looks like the medics aren't coming" speaks Terry "What do we do now? Jake needs help!"
"We help ourselves" all pairs of eyes roam to the captain, said man kneeling in front of the tired cop "I'm going to lift you into my arms and carry you to the car, Peralta."
He should find this funny, right? Something told Jake that had he not been so out of it, he'd bust up laughing. For lack of anything else, he nodded his consent.
Holt's hands gently lift Jake into a bridal carry, the younger males head leaning on his shoulder "Let's go"
The nine nine all huddle inside the hospital waiting room, each having the absolute worst running through their minds.
"Chill Boyle!" Expressed Terry to the erratically pacing man "Jake's gonna be fine, the doctor said so."
Boyle glares "How do we know? Anything could go wrong! We could lose Jake forever. I'm not ready to lose my best friend, Terry!"
"Boyle, relax" states Rosa "Pacing around like a crazy person and screaming won't help, Jake."
Holt sits next to Amy, the young girls hands covering her teary face "Are you alright, Santiago?"
Amy rises her head "Yeah, yep I'm fine! Perfectly perfect, in fact I couldn't be anymore perfect!"
One look from her captain breaks that resolve in an instant "I'm not perfect, far from it. Jake's dying and it's all my fault."
"How do you figure?" Questions Holt "You didn't kidnap and attempt to murder Peralta."
"But I didn't believe Jake! I thought his sabotage story was just him being an immature imbecile! If I had just listened-"
"No, if I had listened. This is not your fault, Santiago. As captain it's my job to look after and stand by my agents, I failed Peralta, it's my fault."
Amy stares in shock, Terry's eyes water, Boyle face palms with both hands remaining on his forehead, Rosa looks away as she sneakily wipes away any tears.
Minutes that seemed like hours pass before the doctor emerged, removing his white surgical mask "Family of Jake Paralta?"
The entire nine-nine team jumped at once, everyone eager as to the matters regarding their friend.
"I'm Raymond Holt, Paralta is my agent." Speaks Holt
The doctors eyes roam everyone in the waiting room, normally you couldn't divulge any information unless to an immediate family member, but the size and build of Terry changed his mind really quick.
"Jake's going to be just fine, luckily he wasn't frozen long enough to cause any lasting damages, no freezer burns or signs of anything being wrong inside the body. The only injuries your friends sustained are moderate abrasions on his wrists caused by the restraints that were used."
The squad all took in a deep sigh of relief "Can we see him?" Pipes in Amy
"Currently we are working on increasing Jake's core temperature, his body is starting to shiver and that's a good sign, the warm water bottles you guys used helped sustain your friend until he made it here. Jake will need to stay the night for observation purposes and will be given some medications to help fight off any sickness that may occur."
"Thank you, Doctor" Speaks Holt
"I'll keep you updated if there are any changes in Jake's condition." States the white coated man before making his exit.
"So what's the plan? Break into Jake's room?" Asks Rosa, hand crunching together into a fist.
"No, there will be no breaking and entering." Answers Terry, the male unclenching Rosa's hands "You heard the man, Jake's gonna be fine."
"As Terry has said, Paralta will be fine." Clarified Holt "We've still got a kidnapper, drug abuser and attempted murderer to charge."
Rosa's brown eyes light up at the thought of beating her friends tormentor senseless "I'll be in the car."
Amy's mouth now gaping open as Rosa pushes aside orderly nurses in her descent "Rosa! Rosa you can't just!" The brunette helping up fallen nurses "So sorry, she gets really excited at the thought of beating someone up."
Terry puffs up his chest, brown eyes bulging from his sockets, teeth ground and fists clenched "Alright, Jeffrey Hoytsman ... It's time to meet Scary Terry!"
Holt and Boyle look knowingly towards one another, Captain knowing full well his detective wasn't leaving Paralta's side "Call me if anything changes."
Boyle smiled and eagerly laughed, frantically hugging and hand holding his boss "Oh thank you, Sir! I promise to call you if anything changes, Jake sneezes, you'll get the call!"
"Yes, see that you do." The captain walks towards the automatic doors, before turning to once again face his subordinate Holt's face showed no sign of change as he spoke "I'm the happiest I've ever been."
I'm so sorry for the wait everyone! I was having major problems with Terry and Captain Holt for some reason, but here it is, the finale to Sabotage :)
