Howdy there, my dears!
Well, this story is slowly coming to a close. After this chapter, there are about three more chapters, then it's finished. It's kind of weird to think about that, but it will be GREAT!
As of this moment, the poll as to whether or not North and Tooth are redeemed is 50/50. Therefore, I think I'll be doing a form of both. You'll just have to keep reading to see what happens!
Well, I hope you enjoy this chapter!
Disclaimer: I only own Em, Maxine, and Jasper
Chapter 30
Emily brought them to a smaller outdoor garden, with flowers and trees growing all around them. The father and daughter sat together on a tree trunk that had been grown to form a bench.
"What do you want to talk about, Father? I've forgiven you." Emily said, looking at Pitch.
"You deserve to know about happened, Emily." He replied. Emily looked down, and Pitch took out the locket she had given him. "You gave this to me the last time I was truly Kozmotis Pitchiner. You were just a child. I should have never left you, Emily." Pitch reached out slowly, taking his daughter's hand. "That was the biggest mistake of my life, little flower. I may not have known it as Pitch Black, but I've regretted that moment ever since. It is one of the main reasons I helped Jack and Elsa." Emily turned, looking up at him.
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"I saw within Jack the man I once was, and who I wanted to be once again. Before I encountered the Nightmares, I was a man who had the world. Even without your mother, I had you, and you were the brightest part of my life. Jack has Elsa and he has Emma, and I couldn't help but see our family in them. They were so similar. I didn't want what happened to me to happen to Jack. If the Guardians had taken Emma away, and if something had happened to her, I was fearful for Jack and Elsa, and what they would do. They couldn't lose their daughter like I lost mine." Emily's grip on her father's hand suddenly tightened, and she used her free hand to place it on Pitch's arm.
"But you never lost me, Father. I've been waiting for you to come home since you left. I knew that you would always come back to me, because you promised. And you have never broken your promises." She said in a firm voice, tears in her eyes.
"How can I make it up to you, Emily? I missed so much, I've done so many things. How can you be so quick to forgive me?" Pitch asked, looking at his daughter, who smiled warmly.
"Because, I see who you were in Jack as well. I always have. Seeing you with them, seeing you smile and laugh, I know that you've come back, Father. Jack and Elsa, Emma, all of them saved you." Emily said, and Pitch began to smile as Emily leaned forward, hugging him tightly. Pitch hugged her back tightly, the father and daughter embracing for the first time in centuries. Pitch felt a warmth fill him that hadn't been there before, and he felt tears fill his eyes, spilling down his cheeks as Emily clung to him like she had so many years ago as a child. As they hugged, and as Pitch regained the mind and heart of Kozmotis Pitchiner, a golden star in the sky shone brightly as Anya rejoiced in her family's healing.
Tooth/North POV
"I don't know what to do, North." Tooth said, pacing around her room. North was seated on the bed, his hands clasped as he thought quietly. "They're the reason we're no longer Guardians, but seeing what they've both been through, I can't help but feel guilty for what we did to them. And we almost caused Jack to fade! That was never what we wanted." Tooth was floating in the air by the time she was finished, her wings fluttering nervously.
"I do not believe we will ever be Guardians again, Tooth." North said. "That is for the Man in the Moon to decide, and I believe what we have done is unredeemable. The best we can hope for is that we apologize to Jack, and that he forgives us." Tooth sighed, crossing her legs in the air.
"But it's not just him. We have to apologize to Elsa and Emma." She replied. "I don't think Elsa likes us, and Emma won't even look at us."
"They forgave Bunny." North said, standing.
"Yes, because he protected her when she was a child, and because he protected her from the appearance of her birth parents. We did nothing, North. All we did was kidnap her and cause Jack to almost fade. Do you even think they'll forgive us after this?" Tooth said, her voice firm. "Then there's Sandy, and Pitch, and Elsa's family. Sandy told us multiple times not to do anything, and we did. We never listened to Sandy and look where it got us."
"Then we cannot hope for forgiveness, but we must apologize." North said, and Tooth nodded in agreement.
Neutral POV (From this point on, Pitch is now Kozmotis)
The group joined together once again in the large room. The kids were all chatting happily, Em, her cousins, and Emma talking with them, and the adults were simply watching them. Jack noticed Kozmotis walking into the room, and he immediately noticed something different.
"Is everything okay?" he asked the Guardian of Dreams, who smiled at him.
"I don't think I've ever felt better in my entire life, Jack." he replied, and Jack grinned slightly. Sandy looked at his partner with a smile.
"I am happy to see you back, Kozmotis." he said, and Kozmotis nodded to Sandy, his eyes twinkling.
"Jack, do you notice Toothiana and North looking different?" Elsa asked her husband quietly as they all began to sit down. Jack looked towards the two in question, and noticed that Tooth's wings seemed to droop, and that North seemed as if he had aged ten years.
"I wonder if they're finally realizing that what they did was wrong." he remarked, and Elsa nodded. Once again, Elsa and Anna sat on either side of their parents, with their husbands beside them. Maxine and Jasper sat on their parents' laps, and Em sat at Elsa's feet, leaning back against her. Bunny sat in a chair beside Jack, with Kozmotis and Sandy beside him, and the Burgess kids sitting around them as well. Jackson sat on the floor with Emma in his lap as the movie resumed.
INT. ELSA'S PALACE — DAY
Elsa paces, distraught. She talks to herself.
ELSA
(mantra-style)
Get it together. Control it. Don't
feel. Don't feel. Don't FEEL!
She hears ice cracking. Stops. Looks around. She's left a sharp wake of ice spikes behind her on the floor. They grow up the wall, taking over the castle.
"Is that what it was like before we met?" Jack asked, looking at his wife, who nodded.
"You remember how terrified I was to touch you. Like Grand Pabbie said, fear is my enemy when it comes to controlling my powers." Elsa replied, and Iduna looked at her eldest child.
"But it isn't any longer, is it?" She asked with a small smile, and Elsa smiled back.
EXT. BLACK MOUNTAINS — NIGHT
The Northern Lights are bright. Olaf stares at them in awe as he rides on Sven's back.
OLAF
Look, Sven. The sky's awake.
Behind Olaf and Sven, Anna walks with Kristoff. She shivers.
KRISTOFF
Are you cold?
ANNA
...A little.
He reaches like he might put an arm around her, but decides against it. He looks around as if he doesn't know what to do, then gets a thought.
KRISTOFF
Wait. Come here.
He takes her hand and pulls her around a bend into a rock-lined pass. Steam vents, powered by the volcanic activity, dot the path. He holds her hands over one of them.
"Those look like fun!" Caleb and Claude exclaimed.
"They're very hot. It's fun when you're bundled up, but without gloves or anything, you could really burn yourself." Kristoff said, wincing slightly.
"I take it that's happened to you?" Bunny asked with a smirk, and Kristoff said nothing, making his family laugh.
ANNA
Oooh... That's nice.
They continue on the path, walking from vent to vent.
KRISTOFF
(taking a deep breath)
So, about my friends...well, I say
friends, they're more like
family... Anyway, when I was a
kid, it was just me and
Sven...until they took me in.
ANNA
(moved)
They did?
KRISTOFF
(nervous ramble)
Yeah. I don't want to scare you,
they can be a little bit
inappropriate...and loud...very
loud...they're also stubborn at
times, and a little overbearing.
And heavy. Really, really heavy.
But they're fine. You'll get it.
They mean well.
Anna touches Kristoff's arm, reassuringly.
ANNA
Kristoff, they sound wonderful.
Kristoff smiles, appreciating her sincerity.
"Oh! This is when I thought he was crazy and that he was going to kill me in the middle of the forest." Anna said casually, and Kristoff looked at her with wide eyes, his jaw hanging open.
"You actually thought that?" he asked indignantly.
"Maybe not the killing in the woods part, but the crazy part, yeah." she replied with a laugh.
KRISTOFF
Okay then...
Mustering the courage, Kristoff steps forward and with a wave of the arms announces-
KRISTOFF (CONT'D)
Meet my family.
REVEAL: he's surrounded by rocks.
KRISTOFF (CONT'D)
(to the rocks)
Hey, guys!
As Kristoff and Sven move through the rocks, waving and greeting, Olaf and Anna stand frozen, dumbfounded.
ANNA
(to herself)
...They're rocks.
OLAF
(realizing)
He's crazy.
The kids all laughed, and Kristoff frowned.
"To be honest, to those who don't know about trolls, it does look very strange that you're talking to a bunch of rocks." Agnarr said with a chuckle.
(covertly, to Anna)
I'll distract them while you run.
(Loud and slow to a rock)
Hi, Sven's family! It's nice to
meet you!
(quietly to Anna)
Anna, because I love you, I insist
you run.
(to the rock)
I understand you're love experts!
(to Anna)
Why aren't you running?
Anna snaps out of her shock and starts backing away.
ANNA
Okay. Um...I'm gonna go-
Just then the rocks around her start rolling.
ANNA (CONT'D)
(panicking)
Kristoff!
Olaf lights up and chases the rocks, who surround Kristoff and unfold as trolls.
BULDA
KRISTOFF'S HOME!
"Granny Bulda!" Maxine and Jasper squealed excitedly at seeing the troll on the screen.
"Bulda and Cliff raised me, so they're really the closest thing I have to a mother and father." Kristoff said with a shrug, and Anna smiled at him.
"I still think it's cute." she replied, making her husband blush slightly.
TROLLS (VARIOUS)
Kristoff! Kristoff's home! It's
been too long! Kristoff's home!
Olaf jumps around all excitedly.
OLAF
(excitedly)
Kristoff's home.
He then stops, confused, and looks to one of the trolls.
OLAF (CONT'D)
Wait? Kristoff?
"I swear, he calls me Sven sometimes just to annoy me." Kristoff said.
"I really think he just gets confused." Elsa said, laughing behind her hand.
"I just can't believe it took him this long to realize that your name wasn't Sven, since Auntie Anna kept calling you 'Kristoff'." Em said with a giggle, and Kristoff shot her a playful glare.
Anna watches, shocked and confused. The trolls all want Kristoff's attention. One troll yanks him down with a boulder's strength.
TROLL ONE
Oh, lemme look at you!
Another troll tries to pull off his clothes.
TROLL TWO
Oh, take off your clothes,
Kristoff; I wash them.
KRISTOFF
(holding up his pants)
Ah! No. I'm gonna keep my clothes
on, thank you.
KRISTOFF (CONT'D)
Great to see you all. Where's
Grand Pabbie?
MUSHROOM KID TROLL
He's napping. But look, I grew a
mushroom.
TROLL SCOUT KID
And I earned my fire crystal.
KIDNEY STONE TROLL
I passed a kidney stone.
PICK ME UP TROLL
Pick me up.
The kid troll jumps up on Kristoff's arm. Kristoff sinks under the weight of him Anna still stares, confused, then realizes...
ANNA
Trolls? They're trolls.
"I think I was remembering my dreams of the trolls. I always thought that they were a myth." Anna explained.
"That makes sense, since the trolls like to keep to themselves, and very few know where they truly are." Iduna replied.
Silence. All troll eyes turn to Anna. Blink. Blink.
BULDA
...He's brought a girl!
TROLLS (TOGETHER)
He's brought a girl!
Suddenly Anna is surrounded by trolls. They body-surf/roll Anna over to Kristoff. She falls into his arms.
ANNA
What's going on?
KRISTOFF
I've learned to just roll with it.
Bulda climbs on top of her husband, Cliff, to get a good look at Anna. She studies her like she's a piece of cattle.
"Absolutely no boundaries." Kristoff said, shaking his head in exasperation.
"Yeah. Our wedding was fun." Anna said, and Elsa and Em both laughed, remembering.
BULDA
Let me see. Bright eyes. Working
nose. Strong teeth. Yes, yes, yes.
She'll do nicely for our Kristoff.
ANNA
Wait. Oh. Um. No.
KRISTOFF
You've got the wrong idea. That's
not why I brought her here.
ANNA
Right. We're not. I'm not-
Anna laughs, uncomfortable, not knowing what to say.
BULDA
(to Anna)
What's the issue, dear? Why are you
holding back from such a man?
TROLLS (VARIOUS)
IS IT THE CLUMPY WAY HE WALKS?
OR THE GRUMPY WAY HE TALKS?
OR THE PEAR-SHAPED, SQUARE-SHAPED
WEIRDNESS OF HIS FEET?
"Also no filer." Kristoff groaned, hiding his face in his hands.
"I always thought it was funny that they didn't hold back." Jack said with a grin. "They keep you on your toes." Kristoff groaned again as Em and Emma giggled.
AND THOUGH WE KNOW HE WASHES WELL
HE ALWAYS ENDS UP SORTA SMELLY.
BUT YOU'LL NEVER MEET A FELLA WHO'S
AS SENSITIVE AND SWEET.
TROLLS (CHORUS) (CONT'D)
SO HE'S A BIT OF A FIXER UPPER,
SO HE'S GOT A FEW FLAWSHIS
PECULIAR BRAIN, DEAR.
HIS THING FOR THE REINDEER
THAT OUTSIDE A FEW OF NATURE'S
LAWS.
SO HE'S A BIT OF A FIXER UPPER,
BUT THIS WE'RE CERTAIN OFYOU
CAN FIX THIS FIXER UPPER UP
WITH A LITTLE BIT OF LOVE.
"I think they were also just desperate to get you with somebody. I mean, you were living with them for how long and you never had a girlfriend?" Anna asked, and Kristoff blushed again.
"It's not my fault I spent most of my time in the mountains and harvesting ice. Not many girls like that." he replied, and Anna raised an eyebrow. "Except for you, of course."
KRISTOFF
Can we just stop talking about
this?! We've got a real, actual
problem here.
BULDA
I'll say-
(To Anna)
IS IT THE WAY THAT HE RUNS SCARED?
TROLLS (VARIOUS)
OR THAT HE'S SOCIALLY IMPAIRED?
KID TROLL
OR THAT HE ONLY LIKES TO TINKLE IN
THE WOODS?
Anna
I did not need to know that.
"That was probably the worst thing they've said." Anna said, wincing at the memory. Kristoff shook his head, pressing his forehead against the top of Maxine's head, making the little girl laugh.
TROLLS (VARIOUS)
ARE YOU HOLDING BACK YOUR FONDNESS
DUE TO HIS UNMANLY BLONDENESS?
OR THE WAY HE COVERS UP THAT HE'S
THE HONEST GOODS?
TROLLS (CHORUS) (CONT'D)
HE'S JUST A BIT OF A FIXER UPPERHE'S
GOT A COUPLE A' BUGS.
KRISTOFF
No, I don't.
TROLLS
HIS ISOLATION
IS CONFIRMATION
OF HIS DESPERATION FOR HEALING
HUGS.
SO HE'S A BIT OF A FIXER UPPER,
BUT WE KNOW WHAT TO DO.
THE WAY TO FIX UP THIS FIXER UPPER
IS TO FIX HIM UP WITH YOU.
The girl trolls sweep Anna away. The boys take Kristoff.
KRISTOFF
(to the male trolls)
Enough! She's engaged to someone
else. Okay?!
"Yeah, shouldn't have said that." Kristoff muttered, and Anna leaned against him.
"Well, I'm glad you did. I think that's when I realized that maybe Hans wasn't right for me." she replied softly, and Kristoff looked at her with a smile.
TROLLS beat. Blink. Blink. The boy trolls turn, huddle...
TROLLS (VARIOUS)
SO SHE'S A BIT OF A FIXER UPPER,
THAT'S A MINOR THING.
THIS QUOTE "ENGAGEMENT"
IS A FLEX ARRANGEMENT.
KID TROLL
AND BY THE WAY, I DON'T SEE NO
RING.
TROLLS (VARIOUS)
SO SHE'S A BIT OF A FIXER UPPER,
HER BRAIN'S A BIT BETWIXT.
GET THE FIANCE
OUT OF THE WAY
AND THE WHOLE THING WILL BE FIXED!
BULDA
WE AREN'T SAYING YOU CAN CHANGE HIM
'CAUSE PEOPLE DON'T REALLY CHANGE.
WE'RE ONLY SAYING THAT LOVE'S A
FORCE
THAT'S POWERFUL AND STRANGE.
PEOPLE MAKE BAD CHOICES
IF THEY'RE MAD OR SCARED OR
STRESSED.
"I swear, Bulda can read minds or something, because that kind of freaked me out when she said that." Anna remarked, and Elsa smiled slightly.
"I think it's just intuition." she told her sister, and Iduna nodded in agreement.
TROLLS (VARIOUS)
BUT THROW A LITTLE LOVE THEIR WAY
(THROW A LITTLE LOVE THEIR WAY)
AND YOU'LL BRING OUT THEIR BEST!
TRUE LOVE BRINGS OUT THE BEST!
Kristoff looks over at Anna. She actually looks shockingly beautiful dressed in moss, lit by shimmering crystals.
ALL TROLLS
EVERYONE'S A BIT OF A FIXER UPPER,
THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT
FATHER, SISTER, BROTHER
WE NEED EACH OTHER
TO RAISE US UP AND ROUND US OUT
By this time Kristoff and Anna are being ushered into a pit by the sheer force of numbers.
TROLLS
EVERYONE'S A BIT OF A FIXER UPPER,
BUT WHEN PUSH COMES TO SHOVE
OLAF
THE ONLY FIXER UPPER FIXER THAT CAN
FIX A FIXER UPPER IS
TROLLS
TRUE
TRUE
TRUE
TRUE
LOVE
During this last bit Anna and Kristoff are looking at each other differently. Hmmm. Maybe those trolls are right? Sparks! Chemistry!
TROLL PRIEST
Do you, Anna, take Kristoff to be
your trollfully wedded-
ANNA
Wait, what?!
TROLL PRIEST
You're getting married.
"Is that what your wedding actually looked like?" Pippa asked curiously, and Anna smiled.
"A little. It was kind of a mix, just like how Jack and Elsa's wedding was a mix of the Guardian traditions and our traditions. We were married in the castle, but Grand Pabbie married us in both of our traditions." the woman replied.
"It was a fun wedding." Jack said with a laugh.
TROLLS
LOVE!
Just then, Anna collapses. Kristoff catches her. She's shivering something fierce.
KRISTOFF
Anna?
He pulls off her cape and hat.
KRISTOFF (CONT'D)
She's as cold as ice.
Just then Grand Pabbie pushes his way through the crowd. Trolls clear the way for Pabbie. He stops at the edge of the pit.
GRAND PABBIE
There's strange magic here!
KRISTOFF
Grand Pabbie!
GRAND PABBIE
Bring her to me, Kristoff.
Kristoff helps Anna over. Pabbie looks into her weak eyes.
GRAND PABBIE (CONT'D)
Anna, your life is in danger. There
is ice in your heart, put there by
your sister. If not removed, to
solid ice will you freeze, forever.
ANNA
What...? No.
KRISTOFF
So remove it, Grand Pabbie.
GRAND PABBIE
I can't. If it was her head, that
would be easy. But only an act of
true love can thaw a frozen heart.
Anna turned her head to beam at her sister, who smiled back.
"I can't believe we made that mistake." Kristoff said, shaking his head.
"What mistake?" Bunny asked.
"You'll see." Anna said.
ANNA
An act of true love?
BULDA
(googley, to her hubby)
A true love's kiss, perhaps?
A bunch of trolls give each other kisses.
Anna shivers again, collapsing into Kristoff's arms. More of
her hair turns white.
KRISTOFF
Anna, we've got to get you back to
Hans.
ANNA
(still weak)
...Hans.
KRISTOFF
Help us out, Sven.
Kristoff grabs Sven's antlers. Sven pulls them out.
Kristoff helps Anna onto Sven and hops up behind her.
KRISTOFF (CONT'D)
Come on, Olaf!
Sven takes off. Olaf grabs Sven's tail, rides with them.
OLAF
I'm coming! Let's go kiss Hans! Who
is this Hans?!
Laughter filled the room at Olaf's words.
"Jack, what was your wedding like?" Sophie asked the winter spirit, who looked at his wife, both smiling at one another.
"It was small. Manny was the one who married us, and after our vows of marriage, we said our Guardian vows. When Em turned ten, we talked to her about becoming a Guardian, and she trained for three years under Sandy and Kozmotis. On her thirteenth birthday, she took her vows and became the Guardian of Innocence." Jack said, and Em smiled proudly.
"That's so cool. So are you immortal?" Jamie asked, and Em shook her head.
"That was something Manny discussed with Mama and Papa. When I turn seventeen, I'll stop aging, just like Mama and Papa did." she replied.
"That's awesome." Monty said with wide eyes.
Please review!
I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. I loved writing the scene between Emily and Pitch, and I thought that after all this time, it's about time for him to start going by his true name. And honestly, I didn't expect to have so many parallels between Pitch's family and Jack's family, it just happened like that.
Well, I'll see you soon, Guardians, kings, and queens!
Love,
Enchantress
