Exams and classes are over for the semester! So hopefully I can update more often?

The three of them sat in silence, brooding in the dim light of the hotel room. Sanada stood suddenly and pulled back the curtains of the window. He gazed out at the city and watched as the lights began flickering on.

Yanagi pulled out a large, flat, metallic object from his pocket and spun it like a coin on the table. A ringing echo filled the room as the spinning began subsiding and it started rattling against the tabletop. KANTOU TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP FIRST PLACE showed on the medallion.

Sanada rolled back his left shirtsleeve to the elbow and fished in his pocket until he produced a calligraphy pen. He uncapped the pen and began slowly, methodically tracing out the character for yume on his forearm. Yanagi spun his medal again while Sanada stared at the drying ink with an unreadable expression.

Yagyuu was tilting Renji's hardcover notebook back and forth, focused intently on the golf ball that was wobbling around on the surface. Niou had cut it open and hollowed out half of it for him when they first started taking jobs. Sanada dropped the pen back into his pocket and ran a finger over the now-dry ink. Yanagi picked up his medal and spun it again.

Jackal knocked on the door of the suite tentatively. The door opened just enough for him to see a flash of Yagyuu's glasses, "The chopper's here."

He noted at his friends' tense, fatigued faces in silence. This was why he had not, would never agree to going under. If he could do a job on the sidelines, it was good enough for him. Jackal knew he didn't have the mental willpower to do what they did. Sanada was already badly affected; who knew what it would do to him?

"What about the data?"

"Forget it," Sanada said gruffly as he exited the room.

Yagyuu adjusted his glasses, "It should have been delivered hours ago. They'll know we failed."

"Time to get out, then, is it?" Jackal muttered under his breath as he followed the others down the long hallway.

..

The wind from the helicopter's blades whipped through their hair. He sighed a little. On the move again. Sanada wanted to hit something… where was his katana anyway? Back home in Japan. The thought ran through his mind. He shook his head and ran a hand through his hair before stepping into the waiting chopper. He froze.

..

Renji ran into his friend's back and pinched the bridge of his nose, "Genichirou, what—" he stopped and blinked his watering eyes furiously.

"Ore-sama thinks these people have very familiar faces, ne?"

..

Guess who?

I know this was a short chapter but I thought it'd be a good ending point before I formally introduce the next character. Also, it's a good time for me to refresh on the movie since it deviates a bit from the actual script.
