Twilight Academy
CHAPTER SEVEN
The sound of the clock ticking echoed in the living room as I stared out at nothing, a can of soda in my hands as rolled it back and forth. I kept replaying the scene in my head from the principal's office over and over again. Expelled?! I couldn't believe it. I was shocked and angry about it. The jerk had the nerve to bang the blue haired bitch (probably why she didn't get expelled) and expel me instead! I squeezed the can hard and it exploded everywhere. "Dammit!" I swore loudly, feeling the cold and sticky liquid on my face as it landed everywhere. My mood damped heavily as I went to get wet wipes to clean up the mess I had made. My mind is in turmoil as I kept thinking about the events. My friends didn't know what happened as I was sent back to the class to gather my things and empty out my locker. The principle was loud and clear, I wouldn't be going back to the academy for a while.
Wiping the coffee table down and the floor, I felt angry tears running down my cheeks as I cleaned. I hadn't been this angry or embarrassed for a long time. I wanted to punch something or someone to let out my frustration. The knock on the door broke me out of my thoughts. Rubbing the back of my arm against my eyes, I stood up and headed towards the door. "Hello?" I grumbled, not in the mood for company as I opened the door and stopped, blinking when I saw Prince Seifer at my door.
I stared for a few minutes, mouth slightly agape before closing it and stiffening my back. "What can I help you with your majesty?" I asked formally.
Seifer had his usual smirk on his face but it didn't reach his eyes. "I wanted to see how you were doing," he said as if visiting people from school is an everyday thing. "I heard what happened."
"Who else knows?" I asked, keeping my tone calm though I wasn't calm at all.
"The whole academy knows." Go figure….
Sighing heavily, "Shit…" I muttered, not caring if there was a prince in front of me. "Thanks for the update."
"Rose…"
"What?"
"Come with me," Seifer said. "You need to relax." He leaned forwards and took my hand, pulling me forward and towards him.
"Hey!" I protested. "I never agreed to go anywhere with you." Seifer grinned down at me, his blue eyes sparkling. "Come on Rose. I don't bite." Scrambling, I grabbed my keys off the bookshelf before Seifer yanked me out the door. Damn…he was strong. The man didn't give me any choice so I followed after him and tugged my hand out of his grip.
"What? Don't want to be seen holding hands with me?" Seifer teased me as he walked. I stared up at him. "And have a hoard of girls of all classes coming after me? Not really," I said honestly.
Seifer just laughed, stuffing his hands into his pockets. "Aw come on, your stronger than that," he said. "I've seen you fight."
I snorted as followed him. "Yeah and look what happened," I grumble. 'Me expelled and the blue haired bitch fucked the principle."
"So the rumors are true than," Seifer said bored tone. "Old man Jenkins is getting sex from the females."
"You knew about it?" I was stunned.
"The whole school knows it Rose. Ask your friends and they'd tell you the same. Why do you think that skimpy dressed girls get away with a lot of things?" He had me there.
"Why are you telling me this? What are getting out of it?" I asked warily. Seifer turned to look at me, the smirk gone.
"Can't I offer advice without wanting something in return?" He asked.
I nodded slowly. "Yeah."
Seifer nodded and resumed back to his regular arrogant self. 'Good," he said. 'So how does a late lunch sound?"
Before I could speak my stomach answered for me. "Sounds good," I said, feeling hungry. I hadn't ate since breakfast. "But…I'm broke."
"I'll be paying Rose," Seifer laughed. "And I'm taking you to a Commoner's café." I was relieved at that. It be weird that if he took me to a pricy place and uncomfortable. We continued walking down the brick road. The streets were pretty quiet, considering that the kids were still in classes. There is a light breeze that afternoon and it felt great as it played with a few strands of my hair. Pushing it back with my fingers, I caught Seifer looking at me with an unreadable look. Our gazes locked on, neither of us being the first to break it. My heart sped up slightly and it felt like my stomach had butterflies in it.
I finally averted my gaze, feeling uncomfortable all of the sudden as my stomach tightened a bit. What was wrong with me? It could never happen anyway. Sighing, I resumed walking and heard Seifer's heavy steps follow after me.
A few minutes later, we stepped into the café. It was cute and decorated nicely with the hanging plants from the walls, light pink walls and green floor tiles that tied in with the theme of the place. People looked up as soon as we walked in and started to whisper to each other. Seifer led me to a table and sat down. I took the chair across from him and sat down slowly. The whispers didn't seem to mind Seifer so I decided to ignore them as well.
A young looking blond walked towards the table and smiled. "What can I get you two this afternoon?" she asked pleasantly.
"Go ahead Rose," Seifer said.
I looked at the menu. "Um…I'll have the Apple Cider tea and the chicken Panini." The waitress wrote it down and looked at Seifer.
"Mint tea and burger," He said without looking at the menu. I figured he's been here before, shocking somewhat. The waitress nodded and left, leaving us alone. I didn't know what to say at the moment, nor did I know how to start up a conversation with him either.
"How's your leg feeling?" Seifer asked, breaking the awkward silence as he rested his arm on the back of his chair, staring at me with those piercing eyes of his.
"Sore but fine," I said, feeling the sharp pain in the wound and rubbed it gently. "Thank you for asking."
Silence again. Seifer looked around the area and excused himself to use the rest room down the hall. I took the chance and looked around the café, admiring the paintings on the walls and recognized some of them. Ten minutes have passed and Seifer still hadn't returned yet. "Did he fall in?" I mutter as I got up and headed towards the hallway that led to the bathrooms. I heard something near the men's bathroom. Moaning? I walked towards the sound and stopped. In front of me was none other than Seifer and Namine locked in a passionate kiss. I stared opened mouth as my heart sunk into my stomach, breaking into pieces of hurt and betrayal. Angry tears filled my eyes as I watched them kiss.
"You don't waste any time do you?" I growled out, breaking their attention away from each other. Namine looked up and flushed from embarrassment and…triumph? There was malice in her eyes that wasn't like her and it worried and unsettled me.
"Rose…" Seifer said, looking slightly embarrassed. His cheeks were flushed from the make out session with the blond.
"I don't want to hear it and plus it's none of my business," I snapped, trying to control my emotions. "Have fun with fucking each other." I spun on my heel and marched out of the café, lunch totally forgotten. I walked down the side walk, swearing under my breath. "Jerk, jackass…back stabber…" I thought Namine was my friend. "Some friend…" I kicked a can, hard and sent it flying into a wall. The angry tears kept building up as I fought them down, not wanting to cry in public. Today was not my day.
