I'm back~…but with a short chapter. Sorry, but school kind of got in the way with writing. I had a Stats test on Friday and then I had to go and visit a college on Saturday. I will take any comments and criticisms because I really believe I could have done better for this chapter, but just kind of got lazy. And…well…I'm kind of guilty for thinking about new stories that I should write. Anyways, I hope you somewhat enjoy this chapter…if you don't I won't mind. My writing is pretty mediocre to begin with. :P

Shout Outs to My Reviews from Last Chapter:
OmegaK: You're very welcome. I plan to have Kotarou appear some more in the future, so expect to see more NicoMaki moments with him.
Raine-chi: Well you'll just have to keep reading to find out who Genji really is. I don't really hate Biology; in fact I plan to major in it (I know…why is a Biology major into writing fanfics). O.o
Guest: Tempting…in what way?
lovemaki: I will apologize in advance it this chapter was not what you were expecting. As mentioned in chapter 1, this is my first story that requires me to write a lot of action scenes which I'm not really good at…yet.
Anon: Yep, slowly their they will keep interacting with each other and eventually develop feeling for each other…at least that's how I plan it to happen.
: Good to know that you like my story, and from your English it seems that you're not native to the language. It's pretty cool knowing other people from different countries are reading my story.
MiloMilkshake: Here is the next chapter. I hope to see another review from you for this one and the more that will come in the future.
Dash24zappshift: My friend, not sure if this satisfied you, but I was able to update.
GAT-X105VividPanzer: Yep, she is the only one left. I promise she will appear soon. I realized that when I wrote scenes for Kotori and Ushio there were more of a friendship relationship instead of a romantic one so I decided to give them a little push. Knowing Ushio he really needed it. ;)
anjeal: Yes, tsunderes being stubborn with their feeling and Eiichi being pretty dense for accepting the dance so easily…but a gentleman has to be a gentleman. As always, your reviews and comments are too kind. But that doesn't mean I don't appreciate them.
Ch. 6 Red or Blue
"What do we do?!"
"Let's get out of here!"
"I don't want to die yet!"
Party guests panicked after being told that there were bombs planted somewhere in the room. The tension in the room was beginning to rise. The three needed to do something with the situation, and quick.
"Ushio, call HQ for backup. Masaki, start searching for the bomb. Ushio will come and help you after the call. I'll take care of the guests. Let's go!" Eiichi threw out the orders to try and take control of the situation.
"Yes sir!" The two younger males nodded at the orders and quickly left to do their jobs.
Ushio ran to a corner of the room and started calling HQ. Masaki started pulling off tablecloths and looking under the tables or anywhere else where the bombs could be. Eiichi walked towards the mic and spoke to control the chaotic situation.
"Everyone, please try to calm down. Help will be on the way." The blonde grabbed the guests' attention and was able to calm some of them down. Eiichi stepped off the stage and was about to continue talking until a person cut him off.
"Why should we listen to a person like you?!" A familiar head of brown hair that looked like a dirty mop appeared from the crowd. The two young bodyguards stood across from each other and had a staring contest. "Like I said before, I don't trust any of you! For all we know this could be something-"
His words were cut off by an incoming force jerking his jacket. Everyone in the crowd gasped at what had just happened. Eiichi stared at the man in the eyes as he tried to hold back his anger.
"You really need to learn how to read the mood." The blonde's words came out in a low tone. "Hey you, what's your name, I seem to have forgotten it."
"Kubo Makoto." He clenched his jaws and stared into a pool of blue eyes.
"Alright then Kubo-san, if you don't mind, why don't you get your ass moving and escort the guests out to safety."
"Huh?! What makes you think-"
His sentence was cut off when Eiichi pulled him closer so only he could hear the blonde's words.
"I don't care what you think. If you want everyone here to make it out of here alive, I suggest it's best if you listen to what we say. Unless you have any better ideas, keep that hole of your's shut and do your job. Or would you rather I end it for you right here."
The older man paled at the blonde's words. He was more crazy than a certain bluenette. Ushio and Masaki had to pry Eiichi off of the other man and to calm him down.
"Eiichi, you're going to make things worse by doing this." Ushio whispered to his older brother.
"Right? So why don't you get everyone out while Ushio and I look for the bombs." Masaki looked at Eiichi. "We need someone to watch over those three in case something else happens."
Eiichi nodded silently. He wasn't completely trilled to be having to work along with the mop head, but since Ushio and Masaki had to handle the bombs he had no other choice.
"Fine." The blonde's blue eyes closed as he sighed. "Just promise me you'll both be careful. Don't know what I'll do to him if I lose the both of you."
The trio shared a quick nod with each other and returned to their work.
"Alright everyone, please leave the room without pushing. We want to avoid any casualties as much as possible." Eiichi regained his composure and returned to controlling the guests. They hesitated at his words at first, but soon began to file out of the room as fast as they could (luckily there weren't a lot of people present since it was a party for the wealthy).
Nozomi and the others hadn't moved since the sudden announcement. Eiichi made his way towards them and informed them of the current situation.
"For now, I need all of you to get out of here too. It's not safe here." Eiichi looked at them with all seriousness.
"But what about Ushio-kun and Nishikino-san?" Kotori being the person she was didn't want to leave anyone behind.
"Help will be coming soon; we'll just have to believe in them for now." The look on Eiichi's face gave away his emotions. In truth, he didn't want to leave the two behind, he wanted to stay and help, but someone needed to be with the three ladies so nothing else big will happen.
"Kotori, I think we should get moving. If you stay, Ushio-kun will get worried." Before she could say anything back to the older girl a group of men dressed in black came running in.
"Ayase-san, we were sent here as your back up by Captain Izumi. There is another group outside with the other guests." The man saluted the blonde along with his squad. The squad consisted of eight men. Eiichi nodded at them in acknowledgement.
"Alright. I need four men to come with me as escorts and four to stay here for Ushio and Masaki."
"Yes sir!"
Masaki wanted to pull his hair out in frustration. Where the hell are those bombs hidden? They've check every possible place in the room. They have about half an hour left to deactivate the explosives.
"Masaki!" The redhead's attention turned towards the bluenette. "I found one; it was hidden under a floor tile!"
"Stay there; the other one should be close by!" Masaki bit the inside of his cheek. But where?! We don't have time to destroy the whole floor too search for the other one. Unless...
Masaki searched to see if there were any air vents on the floor and up high. A red light could be seen blinking in one of the vents located from above their heads.
"Ushio, I found it!" They nodded in agreement. Masaki had two squad member bring him a ladder from a nearby storage room. Less than twenty-five minutes was left on the timer. Ushio and Masaki each got out a wire cutter and began cutting the colored wires. One wrong move and they're all goners. Sweat beaded down their faces as they cautiously made each cut.
Guests began to evacuate away from the building once they got out. Their rides arrived one by one as time passed them by. Eiichi stood outside and stared at the tall building as reporters and people passed by around him. He wanted to disregard the promise he made with his younger brothers and run straight into the building, but he knows if he does that he'll never hear end of it.
The squad helping him protect the heiresses was split into smaller groups and placed in areas where others could not see them. The four from earlier were on standby as order by the blonde.
His stoic face didn't give out his emotions, but his shaking hands were noticed by a particular person. He was pulled out of an internal battle with himself when a hand grabbed his right. Emerald colored eyes made contact with his azure orbs and washed away his worries. Nozomi's hand was shaking just like his, but she wanted to let the man know that he wasn't alone.
"They'll be fine." Eiichi reassured her and himself by squeezing her hand back. "We made a promise."
He gave her a tried smile that made her heart clench. She wasn't entirely sure whether it was because it looked like beautiful smile or because it looked like a sad smile. All she knew was that she didn't want to let his hand go.
Kotori's eyes were tightly shut as she brought her clasped hands near her face.
Please let Nishikino-san and Ushio-kun get out of there safely.
She hoped her prayer was heard. She didn't want to feel such despair again. The people she cared for were always taken away from her. Kotori doesn't want to feel that feeling again.
Sweat trickled down their faces as they made another cut. Ushio and Masaki had an earpiece in their ear to consult each other for each wire they cut. They had to make sure each cut was done at the same time like the announcer had stated or something could go wrong.
Less than ten minutes left was left on the timer. The two men had their jackets off and sleeves rolled up. Their clothes were drenched from the large amount of sweat and the warmth of the room. Ushio's Adam's apple bobbed up and down as he swallowed his saliva to clear his dried throat.
"Hey Ushio." Masaki quietly spoke loud enough for the earpiece to pick up his voice.
"Hmm."
"I just wanted-"
"Save your words for later when we're done. It's not like you to be so openly honest. We're going to do what we do best, and that's making it out alive in difficult situations, remember?" Masaki's words were cut off by Ushio's short speech, earning a small chuckle from the redhead.
"'As calm as ever' is what Eiichi would say in this situation. We need to cut the pink wire next."
Ushio smirked at the mention of Eiichi as he made the cut. It's true, ever since that they had their big fight, the blonde would always bring up the fact of how he could be so calm in the most difficult situations as a joke. But...in truth, Ushio was just as scared. He was scared of losing his loved one and seeing them get hurt. Scared of having to see a repeated t-
Ushio felt his heart feel as if it stopped beating. He could hear Masaki grumble a curse through the earpiece. They were so close to deactivating the bomb...but their problem now lied with the last two wires. Red or blue?
"How cliché, huh?" Masaki bitterly stated at their current situation.
Ushio looked at the timer and closed his eyes to clear all other thoughts in his mind. Only seven minutes left...there's no more time to hesitate.
"Squad 01 Spade, what was your order when you were given your mission?" Ushio opened his eyes and stared intensely at the two wires.
"To come as back up and listen to any orders given by you sir!" The squad leader gave the bluenette a salute to his superior. The funny thing was that Ushio and Masaki were younger than the men in the squad, but they were respected as seniors when it came to rank and experience.
"Alright then...this is an order that must be obeyed no matter what you think, am I clear?" Masaki heard Ushio's voice through the earpiece and could imagine the face he was making. As selfless as always, Ushio.
"Yes sir!"
"I want you to take your squad and leave the building." The bluenette's tone was low and completely serious.
"But-"
"That is an order!" Ushio felt more sweat trickle down his face. There isn't much time left.
"U-understood!" The man gave one final salute to Ushio and Masaki before collecting his squad members.
"Hajime-san...thank you." The blue haired man thanked the squad leader before they had completely left the room. It caught him off guard knowing that the boy knew his name. Others who were high ranked didn't even know his squad existed. Their squad was low ranked after all. But Sonoda Ushio knew everyone's name regardless of who they were.
"I should be the one thanking you, Sonoda-kun." With those last words Hajime-san left with his squads as ordered.
"Always trying to act cool in front of others." The redhead's words brought him back to reality and made him chuckle.
"I don't know-"
As soon as the timer had hit five minutes the timer began to rapidly drop, catching both men off guard. They weren't expecting this to happen.
"What's going on?!" Masaki frantically yelled out.
Ushio tried to process the situation. Why was the time of the bombs dropping so fast? Then everything clicked in his mind.
"Damn it! Whoever that man was he didn't intend for us to make it out of here alive!"
"Well, which one do we cut?!"
Less than three minutes left on the timer.
"We don't have time to decide! Masaki cut one on three, I don't care which one! We're dead either way if we don't do it now!"
"But-"
"ONE!"
Masaki clenched his teeth. There's no going back now.
"TWO!"
One minute left.
"THREE!"
Eiichi fanatically paced back and forth as he kept looking at his phone for the time. There were seven minutes left before and hour has passed. His hands were sweating and his hair was a mess, but he didn't care about his appearance at the moment.
He was relieved to see the four squad members exiting the building, but soon became confused when he saw no sign of his younger brothers. The faces of the solemn squad leader answered all of his questions, but he asked anyway.
"Where are Ushio and Masaki?" His heart was beating out of his chest.
"Under strict orders from Sonoda-kun...we were to leave the building..."
Eiichi froze at his words. Why? They should be able to deactivate a bomb with-
Suddenly Hajime-san's radio went off. Ushio and Masaki could be heard with a little bit of static in the background.
"Damn it! Whoever that man was he didn't intend for us to make it out of here alive!"
"Well, which one do we cut?!"
"We don't have time to decide! Masaki cut one on three, I don't care which one! We're dead either way if we don't do it now!"
"But-"
"ONE!"
"TWO!"
"THREE!"
Two weeks had passed since that incident. Every guest was able to make it out safely. Nozomi, Nico, and Kotori were not hurt or targeted during that time either.
"So...in the end which wire did you two cut?" Hotaka curiously asked the redhead and bluenette. The two were currently engrossed in their textbooks ignoring the chatter around them.
"Hotaka-kun! There's no need to ask such a question when the issue is over!"
"Ehh~ but doesn't make you sort of curious knowing they were able to make it in such a short amount of time."
"Me too, me too! I really want to know too nya~!" Rin energetically waved her hand in the air to support Hotaka's question.
"Why don't you two tell us so those two will be quiet? Beside, I'm pretty curious in what you have to say too." Eiichi nudged his blue haired younger brother and gave him a teasing smile.
The two sighed. Their reading was going to go nowhere if they didn't give their friends a satisfying answer.
"Red." Ushio bluntly stated.
"Blue." Masaki deadpanned.
Both answers came out of their mouths simultaneously. Masaki and Ushio got up to go to the library and left to let the group process their answers.
"...EHHH~"
I plan to have Tsubasa appear in the next chapter, but then again, maybe not. We'll just have to see. Reviews please, I was a bit disappointed to see I didn't get as much as usual. But hey, it's not like I can force you to do it.
Until Next Time…
