_Chapter 12_

A man in a pristine black suit waited impatiently, pacing back and forth. Finally, a red portal appeared and out stepped Klarion, Teekl in hand.

"You're late," The man snapped.

"A Lord of Chaos is never late, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to," Klarion smirked, petting Teekl.

"Well, did the tactic work?" The man asked, rolling his eyes.

"No, she didn't accept my proposal," Klarion whined with a frown, "We could have ruled the universe together, her and I."

"Klarion, now's not the time to joke,"

"Alright, you people are no fun," Klarion said, "Yes it stalled them, the 'tactic,'"

"Good," The man chuckled, "Very good."

"—The part we took from Klarion belonged to Star Labs, it was stolen about a month ago. It's called the Void. They had been working on making it travel through dimensions. So far, only small objects such as tennis balls and cockroaches have been able to travel through and back. They agreed to allow us to borrow it for Zoey's and Elle's trans-dimensional trip back home," Nightwing rambled on, having talked half an hour already. Most of the members were drifting to sleep, save for Batgirl, Robin and Ember, who were paying close attention to the debrief.

"Zoey, wake up!" Elle grumbled, elbowing her best friend.

"Argh, this is taking forever, can't we go to asleep already?" Zoey sleepily moaned, "Bart and Gar are already sleeping."

"Well, there should be no sleeping on the job!" Elle loudly whispered. Someone coughed from behind the two.

"Are you two finished now?" Nightwing grinned in amusement.

Zoey raised her hand, "No, I'm declaring a vote here. Who wants to use the sleep now?"

Over half the team raised their hands, even some of the senior members.

"I know I want to use the sleep now, ese." Blue Beetle muttered, looking pleadingly at Nightwing.

"Then it's law. Everyone can go use the sleep now!" Zoey proclaimed.

"I-it's not a democracy!" Nightwing sputtered, his voice getting slightly higher pitched.

"It is now," Zoey stood up, "And I'm the president of nocturnal matters."

Nightwing glared at the speedster and said in a dark voice, "You don't know nocturnal."
Zoey's face paled while a few members, noticeably Batgirl, giggled off to the side.

"I, uh, you're right," she quickly admitted, "Um, TO THE SLEEP!" She gave a war cry, pumping her fist in the air before running off.

Nightwing sighs, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Go to sleep everyone."

-Page Break-

The warm sun peeked over the horizon, shining through the crack in the curtains.

"Hey Elle! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, I smell bacon sizzling—OH! BACON!" The speedster ran off, leaving her still sleeping friend on the bed.

As she turned around the corner, she could see that all of the mountain's residents were gathered in the kitchen for breakfast.

"Hey Zoey!" Gar waved an empty plate towards her, "You hungry?"

"When am I not ever?" Zoey replied, drooling at the sight of bacon and scrambled eggs.

It was in the middle of breakfast when Nightwing walked in, carrying a stack of papers. He dropped the papers in the middle of the table with resounding THUD!

"Here, you need to read all these by this afternoon. I sent copies of the documents to the rest of the members not at the mountain," Nightwing dismissively said.

"What is this?" Gar poked the stack of papers cautiously, as if it would come alive and eat him.

"It's the plan and all the details that pertain to it."

"What plan?" Connor asked, raising an eyebrow.

"The plan, Batgirl, Robin, Ember and I devised last night," Nightwing stated, the corners of his lips twitching upward.

"You made a plan without us?" Zoey exclaimed.

"Yes, 'Madam President.' You all decided to go to sleep, and since we couldn't continue the debrief without you, we decided to make ourselves useful."

"This has been fun and all but—gotta run!" Zoey ran, to no prevail. Nightwing had grabbed the back of her shirt, preventing her from going any farther.

"How'd you do that?!" Zoey yelled indignantly, crossing her arms.

"Practice," Nightwing simply said, glaring at her, "Are you going to read the documents now?"

"Fine," Zoey huffed.

"I'll leave you to it then," Nightwing walked off. His signature smirk was on his face.

They started pouring over the boring document, mostly skimming over the details of the plan. It was not until they got towards the very end that things began to get more interesting.

"Hey, I got the snacks!" Zoey proclaimed, dashing into the living room with a big bowl full of chips, pretzels and popcorn.

She found that the others were not reading the document, rather they were laughing at it, and even Connor managed a smirk.

"What's so funny?" she asked, placing the snack bowl on the table.

"L-look!" Gar exclaimed, holding up a sheet of paper.

The paper was a diagram of the trans-dimensional machine they planned on building, but that wasn't what they were laughing about. In the margin of the paper there was a small doodle. A chibi Nightwing seemed to dance on the edge of the page, shouting orders and waving wing-dings. "Come back here! I'm the leader, I'll say when we go! Drop me give 50 push-ups on the double!" said the tiny version of their leader.

After they all calmed down and continued on reading, they found that the chibi Nightwing wasn't the only doodle in the plan. Various other doodles of team members lined the pages, though none as humiliating as Nightwing's.

Nightwing – B01

The Zeta beams spurred to life as Nightwing entered the mountain once again.

"The others will be here soon, are you guys prepared?"

"Mhm," Connor nodded, his lips twitching a slight smirk as he avoided eye contact.

The rest of team came soon after Nightwing had arrived, most looking none too happy about the long document that they read over. Zoey wasn't sure if any of the others had read it all the way through, although she saw Cassie hiding a laugh.

Zoey ran over to Cassie, "Hey, did you see what I saw?"

"That depends what you saw," Cassie said with a gleam in her eyes.

"Nightwing?"

"Yup." The two shared a laugh.

"Okay, everyone listen up! It's time to start the mission briefing," Nightwing said, scanning over his audience. "Wait, where did Elle go?"
